Chapter Twenty

Clink.

What was that?

Clink. clink.

Someone was throwing pebbles at my window.

I push off my blanket getting off from bed. Opening my window I look down

"Gabriel?"

There he is, standing under my window, after ghosting me for days.

"What do you want?! And how do you even know where I stay?" I want to run down, I want to jump into his arms but I don't I stay rooted at a spot. I have to let go

"Come down we have to talk"

"I don't want to talk to you, go away"

"Please Crys"

"Go. Away, I dont ever want to see you again"

I'm about to close my window.

"I'd be going back to the states today" what?

"Good then" I shut my window.

This time I don't cry. I really let go of him.

I did the right thing.

"Morning family" I sat at the breakfast table.

"You seem happy this morning" Ikenna commented.

"You did the right thing" Mother say smiling.

I smile back.

Few months later.

"Did you put everything in the car?" Mother ask.

"For the last time yes" I groan

"My little sister would finally be in the university with her big bro" Ikenna ruffles my hair. I swat his hand away

"Do you know how long it took me to do this hair"

He laughs.

"Everyone in" Mother gets into the driver's side, and I'm sitting in front with her.

I look back at the house and smile.
