2 [ Chapter - 2: Magic & The System ]

" Were closing In ten, so If anyone is still here, leave," Seth exclaimed sitting behind the front desk, reading a book about the magic of this world.

' Nothing new.' He confessed, reading it.

Magic In this world refers to the manipulation of mana stored in the body to generate supernatural effects known as Magic Spells. Magic requires an energy source in order to produce its effect in the corporeal world. Mana is the natural energy source for employing and invocation of magic.

All living beings existing in the world innately have mana in their body. Souls normally dissipate into mana after death and can get reincorporated into the environment. The only known exception to this is people from outside the world that have been summoned. Summoned people are incapable of holding mana inside their bodies, thus incapable of using magic...or so the books says.

Mana or magical power reserve of a person is generally believed to be inherited and the amount one has is determined at birth. Due to the existence of individuals with the Laplace Factor, having enormous amounts of aggregate mana that increased since their birth, they were considered to be the only exception. Though later, this is proved to be incorrect and not linked to the Laplace Factor. All people are capable of increasing their aggregate mana amount by stimulating their mana from a young age. The ability to learn silent spell-casting is also linked to young age.

' Laplace Factor? 'Mom' said I have that, with the ability to silent cast.' Seth recollected.

" See ya, Seth."

" Later Seth."

" Thanks for the nap, Seth."

" We'll talk Seth, later."

Hearing Seth, many people sighed and started leaving after putting their books back...well most did.

" Later." Waving nonchalantly, Seth wanted to get back to thinking.

" Ugh..." Pulling up a chair next to Seth, Lisa laid her head on the desk, halting Seth from thinking.

" Can I help you?" He asked, looking at the sleepy Lisa, nonchalantly as ever.

" I'm listening."

" Can I get my pay early?" She asked looking at Seth using one of the most feared skills In the world by men: Puppy dog eyes!

" No." And they didn't have any effect on Seth Scáthach O'Rourke...

" Why?" Rather than getting mad, she asked curiously.

" It's simple, really." Putting his face In front of hers, he smirked making her shiver," What do I get In return?"

" ...My friendship?" She quietly said, looking away from Seth with a visibly red blush on her face.

" Still a no from me." Getting up, Seth started walking to his room.

" I give you favor from me to you."

" Now that's Interesting~" Settling down ten gold coins In front of her, she heard his charming voice.

" Have a good night now, my dear Lisa."

'...Why do I feel like I made a deal with the devil?' Lisa asked herself, taking her pay.

Oh sweet summer child, because you made a deal with something much worse than the Devil, you made one with Seth.

Right as he made it Into his room, Seth suddenly heard a bell ring throughout his head.

' And there's my cheat... I was wondering If I was getting one...' Laying on his bed, Seth smiled as his eyes starts glowing.

' Hello, System.'

' Oh, I see, the normal setup.' Already knowing how these functions work, Seth grinned.

' Yes.' He ordered, wondering what he will get. He hopes for something he can build upon, or something related to Magic.

' Huh... An actual starter pack, unlike those God-Given-Powers starter packs In those fanfics I read about.' Scanning his rewards, Seth smiled slightly, especially after reading about the new Magic he got.

' *Yawn~* Well... I need a nap.' Without anything to do now, Seth closed his eyes and fell asleep In this new unknown world for the first time.
