New Beginning

Ray could hear the footsteps coming closer to his door, the armor making a clunking sound as it became louder and louder. 

"Open the door and put your hands in the air!" One of the men outside the bunker screamed. 

Ray was deep within his personal bunker that normally would never be infiltrated, as he was a top scientist of the entire world! His mind started racing as he thought of different possibilities of how he came into this situation. 'Could it be a foreign country that somehow snuck into our country?' he thought. 'No that doesn't make sense… there's no way I wouldn't have been alerted to this.' No matter what possibility he thought of, it didn't make sense. He was that heavily protected! 'Maybe it could be my funder who did this, but that doesn't make sense either! Why the hell would he ruin all the work he did after so long!" 

"Open the door on the count of three or we will use force!" The man outside was still shouting. 

Ray immediately realized that he recognized the voice, wasn't that the voice of his funder's headguard, Will? He started laughing to himself as he realized his situation. 

"Never would I have expected myself to be betrayed by my closest ally." He whispered. "I was a fool, too focused on the external conflicts and not the internal!"

"THREE!"

"TWO!"

I've come so far, but is this where my 50 year journey ends? Being betrayed by my own allies? What a shame… A slightly crazy look appeared on his face, 'I imagine if they found out I just recently made a breakthrough on the way to biological immortality they wouldn't have resorted to this. I was even planning to follow the contracts and hand over the results, but I think I've changed my mind.' Ray ran over the opposite side of the door and kicked off a loose plank on the ground. Underneath was a bright red button sticking out. "If I can't enjoy the fruits of my labor, nobody can!'

"ONE!'

Just as the men were about to barge into the room Ray smashed the red button with all his might. A giant explosion completely incinerated his entire room and took all living beings near his bunker with it. Ray, of course, died immediately after pressing the button and the world went blank.

Everything was blank.

After pressing the button to detonate his room he thought he would move onto the after life, or just cease to exist. But everything was blank! It isn't like when it's dark and you can't see anything but black, but it felt like he had no eyes to see black in the first place. There was also no sound, or smell. He couldn't move around or feel anything. He tried everything he could, but nothing happened. It felt like he was completely free from worldly matters, having no interaction with anything, but at the same time being suffocated in a dark prison that is his mind, not being able to do anything but think. 

A few hours later, a blaring light fell on his eyes. 'Wait what, I have eyes?' Ray thought. 'I have eyes!' Even though only a day at max had gone by, it felt like months had passed. But he quickly recovered from the shock and tried to see where he was. The light was still blinding but he could slowly see a woman crying Infront of him.

'Why is she crying? She seems to be very happy…' He tried to move his mouth but only gibberish came out. The reality of him becoming a baby quickly dawned upon him. 'Could it be that I got reincarnated?' He tried moving around but he was much too weak to do anything. He could only helplessly lie down in his mother's hands and pray for the best. His mother caressed him until he slowly couldn't keep his eyes closed anymore and fell asleep. As he slept for the first time in so long he had a long dream about fighting other beings and fighting along the steps to becoming immortal. Right before he was about to become an immortal, he woke up feeling a poke on his cheek.

Ray looked around and saw that he was still in his mother's lap, although in a different location. The room was quite fancy, with a bed sporting a canopy, a very spacious room, and a large double door. A man with pitch black hair and eyes was staring at him while Ray looked around the room. When Ray made eye contact with the man, he could feel the gaze becoming more intense. After a few seconds of staring at each other in silence the man broke eye contact with him holding a satisfied look on his face. He started saying something to his mother, whose expression went from that of worry to relief. 

He hadn't been in this strange world for long so he couldn't understand the language, but something good must have happened. Soon after a giant man, approximately 6'5 opened the door to the room. He had long golden hair and dark black eyes. He was also quite good looking, although he had an emotionless expression on his face. He didn't even take a glance at Ray and talked with the dark haired man. After hearing what the dark haired man had to say he finally looked at Ray with his piercing faze. Ray could feel a strange power coming off of this man, as if he could kill him without him even knowing what happened. He instinctively went to look away, but he forced himself to keep contact with the man. Luckily the man quickly turned away with a slightly interested look on his face after saying a couple words to Ray's mother. After that interaction a wave of sleepiness hit Ray. He closed his eyes and kept dreaming…
