Chapter 75
“Where’s Gideon? I have to say I’m a little let down. I was expecting him by now.” Marcus tossed a heavy paddle aside. Jesse glared at him through a swollen eye.
“I asked you a question. Where’s Gideon? Do you know it’s been almost four days? What do you think he’s doing?”
Marcus pulled a kerchief from his pocket and delicately blotted the blood from Jesse’s lips. Jesse shuddered with disgust at the light contact, but Marcus ignored it.
“You know what I think he’s doing? Fucking that girlfriend of yours. Just between you and me, that’s what I’d be doing in his shoes.”
Once the blood was gone from his mouth, Marcus tossed the soiled rag aside. But he didn’t step away from Jesse. He wasn’t a big man, but he was making it even more difficult to breathe.
