He wasn’t entirely sure what he was going to do with what he learned, though. Gideon Keel was the last person he’d ever anticipated running into, especially after all these years. If his actions the night before were any indication, he was still butting his nose into business that wasn’t his concern. His nosiness could pose a serious problem. Marcus needed to find out exactly how long they were going to be in town, and then make sure Gideon stayed out of his way.

He was on his second cup of coffee when the doors of the café pushed open, and Emma and Jesse entered. Marcus smiled and waved them over, scooting his chair back to make room for them at the circular table.

“I see the print was a success,” he said, gesturing toward the tube tucked beneath Jesse’s arm.

“It was. Emma has an amazing eye for these sort of things,” Jesse said, and there was no mistaking the warmth in his voice. “I’m afraid I’m a complete blockhead when it comes to art.”
