Chapter 34 UNUSUAL POSITION

Samantha’s POV

“I-It started when I was five...” I decided to tell Caleb about my experience when I was young. “I could hear mom’s stifled whimpers from across the room, because…because she was too afraid. Afraid of Dad.”

I could still remember when Dad went home drunk. He grabbed me by the collar and dragged me to the corridor and when he reached the kitchen, he shoved me inside the cupboard. He thought I couldn’t hear him beating mom. He thought I couldn’t hear mom’s cry and sobbed. But he was so wrong.

Mom was begging for him to go away. Begging him to stop. But dad was deaf in all of her begs. I could see them through the small ajar. He was hitting her, kicking her, punching my mom. I flinched in every hit as if it was me he was beating.

I sobbed silently because he should not hear me crying or he would hit her harder. In seconds, I was curled tight inside the cupboard, and my only movement was shaking my limbs and the tears flowing down my face.
