Secrets of the Wicked

A plan that was supposed to involve saving her friends turned into a full-blown mess that plagues Anberine wherever she goes. The worst part is that it's not just any boy, it was the King's Son! How will she cope with her bully who now behaves like a puppy on not just any leash- her leash! Short Except- "What could you possibly want with her?" Marcus asked coldly only to pause as he saw Prince Skye show Anberine a withered purple flower which had yellow on the bottom petal that he had in his right jacket pocket. Anberine's mouth parted while her eyes as she narrowed them showed she was in disbelief, what was he up to? "Seriously...? A dead flower?" Anberine asked dryly not at all impressed by what he was up to. "Well it matches your eyes" Skye commented as he saw her newly changed violet eyes which were still not amused, clearing his throat he kept the flower visible "Violets that sparkle, flowers despite withering never suit you anymore than they do now" Skye said mentally blinking at what he was saying. 'Wait what? What did I just say?!' Prince Skye screamed mentally not believing what he had just said. 'Why did I said something so dumb?' he berated himself for the stupid comment. "What?" Marcus was left baffled while Anberine was even more confused, to prove she was confused she tilted her head and her expression showed she was completely lost. "What has he been drinking?" Anberine asked still in shock as she tried to observe any features that would have been off. "Did you sneak a sip from your father's wine cellar? Or did you hit your head when no one was looking?" Anberine asked bluntly now looking at Marcus who shrugged. "I did drink something" Prince Skye admitted causing the pair to stare at him quickly, that was odd why was he admitting anything and to them no less? "I've been drinking in your beauty and for a rat-faced girl, you look cute" he added with a sly smile. -Author's notes- Please let me know what you think, feedback and comments are truly appreciated. Don’t make me pass an order

The Trio walked towards the Restricted Section; on route they spotted the doors large doors in the distance.

A haunting feeling entered their bones, curiosity of what it could provide for them continued to leave them with more ideas.

Some not nearly as noteworthy nor substantial enough to leave them wanting to look into the matter.

Whatever waited for them, they tried to remain prepared even if it was an impossible task to begin with.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Anberine asked as she kept holding Merlia's semi shaking hand, something Anberine was aware of the whole time and wondered if Skye could hear the trembling.

That or was he in his own world to notice.

"I can't say I will be, but I'll do my best" Merlia said as she gave a forced smile to Anberine who frowned at how Merlia was most likely upset about this.

However instead of trying to say anything that would increase the worry, Anberine nodded before she released her hand on Merlia's in order to open the door.

As expected, the door was locked causing Anberine to use her magic to open the door.

To her worry librarian was not in which left them on edge.

"Do you think he's in his quarters?" Merlia asked as they looked round for any traps or security charms.

Anberine eyed the Librarian's desk and approached it to see a quill beside a feathered pen.

"We should sign in just in case. We don't want to get into bigger trouble" Anberine said startling Skye while she grabbed the pen and signed her name, once done she grabbed the key and placed it in her right pocket.

"Are you insane? He will-!" Skye pursed his lips as she frowned at him while holding the pen.

"Alright fine" Skye muttered quietly as he approached the desk and began to write his name.

Once the trio signed their names they walked straight towards the restricted section.

Using the key from the desk she opened the door earning them a low-pitched groan from the doors, this left them shivering at how uncomfortable the noise was to their ears.

"I guess he forgot to oil the doors" Merlia said with a sheepish smile as Anberine shook her head faintly at her friend who was trying to lighten up the mood.

"So what do we need to look for?" she asked while staring at the section in awe, it wasn't every day she entered such what she felt was a sacred room.

Skye as he looked around the area, had his hands in his pockets.

"I need you two to sit at that desk" Skye explained as Anberine shrugged and walked towards the desk without complaint.

Confused at what Skye was up to she walked after Anberine and sat down to her right.

"Anything?" Merlia asked softly as she stared at Skye who's face scrunched up from not seeing anything.

"Nothing" Skye shook his head before sitting at the desk.

"There has to be something, I saw Merlin with someone but I can't figure out who it was" Skye slumped into the chair opposite the pair after he pulled it out for him to sit.

Placing a hand to his face a withered sigh left his lips.

"Now what? Was it just my imagination? Did we really come here for nothing?" Skye mentally slapped himself for taking what he saw too seriously.

Now they really had no lead to go on.

Looking at the pair who were looking back at him with a frown.

Merlia soon placed a few books that had been littered on the table to one side while Anberine assisted quietly.

Both had curious expressions as they were left perplexed on what to do now.

Was there nothing that could be considered a clue?

Even just a hint?

'Feeling the heat old friend?' Skye froze. Slowly looking up once more, sweat-filled his brow as he dared to hope that he actually hearing things.

A chill ran down his spine as he saw the man in blue standing where Merlia once stood.

Beside him the man was more noticeable and it took all of Skye not to scream in shock as he recognised the man.

He watched the pair carefully for any clues they might give him, the man soon turned to look at who had spoken to him.

A soft chuckle left the man's tired lips as he recognised who was speaking to him.

'I'm surprised you even come here wearing those peasant clothes' The man had commented before gesturing to a chair beside his left.

Taking it with a nod of thanks the male sat down, smiling weakly his electric blue eyes dimmed from seeing the torment his friend no doubt was enduring thanks to what was going on.

'The war is getting worse Arthur, nothing is going to stop them from wanting to overturn the ruling' the male replied with a weak sigh.

Skye swallowed thickly as he saw both males with defeated looks on their faces.

'So this… this was back to when the civil war happened?' Skye swallowed thickly as he watched them. Unaware of the looks he was receiving with the girls, nor did he allow himself to shake off the scene.

This must be a clue, it had to be.

Otherwise why was he seeing these images?

'To think, you wanted peace so badly and yet the moment you removed the restriction on magic things took a turn for the worst' the male felt guilt and sadness for Arthur, it truly was a tough decision and it resulted in backlash.

Arthur gave his friend a brittle smile.

'Prejudice is everywhere Merlin, do not think it's your fault. You all deserved to be free, unbridled by such laws my father initiated. I should be apologising again and again for what my father put you all through' the man now known as Merlin gave Arthur a wry smile.

'Who would have thought the proud, arrogant prince who became king would end up apologising to a common peasant like me' Merlin teased to Arthur's annoyance.

'Don't make me pass an order to have you killed' Arthur said darkly even though his eyes glinted from the jest.

Merlin as he heard this made a shocked face as he placed a hand to his heart.

Will Skye find what he's looking for?

Find out in the next chapter.
