Prologue

"No matter how much time passes, no matter what takes place in the interim, there are some things we can never assign to oblivion, memories we can never rub away."

― Haruki Murakami

I can hear my heartbeat getting louder and louder. The piercing sound almost covered my thoughts.

This was it...I thought I was going to die. This was going to be my last moment. But the thought of dying didn't faze me.

But the thought of never having the chance to say good-bye, now that definitely scared me a hell of a lot. I tried to scream, just loud enough, enough for him to hear me. Wherever he was, he had to be close I can just feel it in my heart. My heart craves just to see him even if it is for one last time or even a small glimpse. I just want him to wrap himself around me for one last time. I wanted to die into his burning green eyes all over again. They glowed like the eyes of a predator that hunts at night.

Then my thoughts turned back to my father, the one I've misunderstood for almost my entire life. I was going to die without even getting the chance to apologize. The one who's been hurting all these years and I've been pushing him away not even giving him a chance. Life is such an ass I thought. All these last minute thoughts, wow death really wakes people up.

My heated tears slid through the cuts and bruises on my cheeks. I watched my blood drip from different wounds my body carried, hitting the cold dark ground as I felt the cool breeze inflame my open wounds. I was chained up in a small dark empty room. A room that even made the living feel dead, the void was the only company.

It was a room where people will soon find my corpse.

"Someone's coming...you...have to survive... you have to...save me...us...you're our only...hope..." The voice so faint started to slowly fade away. The sound of her voice resembled the voice of an innocent little girl. She was right. I have to survive no matter what hell breaks loose, I have to save those souls and bring them the justice they deserve. This is what my mother wanted me to do as well as all the others.

I'm the only one who could hear them.

It became quiet again until there were footsteps, they got louder and closer, and I knew the footsteps headed in my direction. It didn't take long for the door to swing open.

"Aww, well if it isn't the girl who talks to ghosts." He gritted his teeth causing a growl to burst out of me, only making the men grin viciously. He was half transformed, only his teeth resembled his animal form.

"Well if it isn't a useless dog." I said boldly, mimicking his exact tone. He let out a loud growl, which made my skin crawl and my heart drop to my toes. But, I couldn't let him know that I simply smirked in reply.

"Well aren't you a little b-" Before he could finish, I spit every ounce of saliva I had left in me, and onto his haunted face.

Not again, before I even saw his arm...
