28 Sergio vs Liu Kai

The morning preparation felt like ages for the three of them. They were sprinting while constantly scanning for an opponent in an area full of monsters. Assuming they would need to battle the S-Rated Bug in the situation they're in right now is ridiculous.

"Ah… I'm so tired already." Jin Chow complained, holding his knees with his hands, trying to catch his breath.

"It's still early. Let's continue." Liu Kai suggested, wiping the sweat on his forehead.

"No, let's go back. It's not safe if we encounter an S-Rated Bug in your states." Sergio interjected, standing in front of them without a sweat.

They sheltered in an empty apartment for a bit, then searched for lunch. They were close to their building yesterday, maybe only a few blocks away, so they're just turning around the building and not going too far away to escape threats.

Before eating, Liu Kai said, "Eat as much as you can. We need a lot of nutrients for our bodies." The two agreed and tried to consume more than what they usually intake. 'Well, it's better to say it that way. They don't have a system to know their stats after all.' Liu Kai said to himself, sitting on a bed, holding his full stomach.

After they have completed their meal, they head back to their original position near the entrance to Fang Shi.

"Finally, we're back here. I'm so tired." Jin Chow sighed and sat on the ground.

"The day is not yet over." Liu Kai responded to Jin Chow's whining.

Jin Chow looked at Liu Kai and saw his eyes not satisfied with their training. "Man, you gotta give me a break." Jin Chow said. 'Is this guy serious? I'm sure he's more tired than I am.' Jin Chow thought to himself.

'All we did is to run around. This is not what I'm looking for.' Liu Kai thought to himself.

'I acknowledge your heart.' Sergio thought to himself. "Let's spar then." Sergio Von Croy cut the two of them and prompted Liu Kai to fight him.

"Sure." Liu Kai agreed to Sergio Von Croy's challenge.

"No use of skill, just bare hand to hand combat. The first one to go down loses the match." Sergio Von Croy said.

"I agree, but let's stop the match if my skill activates. I can't control it yet. It will activate at a certain point depending on the damage inflicted on me." Liu Kai explained.

"I see, that would make sense since you just woke up from your powerful nap." Sergio Von Croy replied, thinking that he can't correctly control without knowing it's passive.

The eyes of Liu Kai stayed sharp and concentrated. Of course, Sergio wouldn't understand Liu Kai, because all the people he encountered so far would trigger their skills at will. They didn't know about individuals with passive abilities that will enable after fulfilling unique specifications.

"Let's sta—" Liu Kai forced Sergio to dodge his punch and didn't give him a chance to finish his sentence.

"Don't fool around. I hate it when someone's not taking me seriously." Liu Kai demanded, already have his guard up.

Sergio Von Croy laughed at Liu Kai and said, "Alright, alright, let's test your combat skills." Sergio Von Croy cracked his neck and kicked Liu Kai's left side.

Liu Kai blocked the kick using his arms, but Sergio grabbed him in his defensive posture and tossed him to the ground.

"I think that's it for today, kid." Sergio mocks Liu Kai.

"What are you saying? The match is just getting started. I'm not down yet." Liu Kai kept his balance by rolling his body in the air and landing with his feet. Liu Kai wiped the sweat on his forehead and raised his arms once again.

"Hahahaha, interesting." Sergio laughed as he found it amusing.

"To think you'll be this happy to have a losing record on me, are you a moron?" Liu Kai smiled back at Sergio to provoke him.

"Losing?" Sergio didn't expect those answers from Liu Kai and suddenly remembered how Liu Kai humiliated him on their first meet up in the same building.

The joy on his face is gone. He clenched his fist and glared at Liu Kai, face to face with his battle face on.

'Oh, boy. I got him. But now what?' Liu Kai thought to himself, seeing Sergio's angry face.

Sergio Von Croy dashed in, punching and kicking Liu Kai at the same time, leaving him little opportunity to counter.

'These blows are heavy.' Liu Kai gritted his teeth, trying his best to stay on his feet while deflecting the attacks.

Liu Kai keeps deflecting the attacks and at the same time, waiting for a chance to strike back, but Sergio didn't give him time to fight back.

'I won't let you win again this time.' Sergio showed his thoughts in his actions, not removing his eyes to Liu Kai.

"What happened to your cockiness earlier? Are you just going to block this entire battle?" Sergio mocked Liu Kai while still bombarding him with punches and kicks.

Liu Kai didn't respond and remained focused on blocking to lessen the damages he's receiving, so his skill 'Berserk' won't activate.

After a bit, Sergio's attacks were slower and easier to anticipate for Liu Kai.

'Now's the time.' Liu Kai grabbed Sergio's right wrist and punched him in the face. Sergio took a step back as the blood from his nose squirted.

'I'm not done.' Liu Kai grabbed his left hand and pulled him closer, then kneed his chin.

Sergio had flown up before he came down from the strike.

Liu Kai walked closer to him and said, "I think that's it for today." He stared at him, lying on the ground before he walked away.

At the beginning of the match, Liu Kai purposefully ridiculed Sergio Von Croy but did not expect him to be taken over by his emotions. They just stopped running around and just got back, as they're all exhausted. Liu Kai knew that, and he used it to his advantage.

Sergio Von Croy has lost his limits inside Fang Shi. He's undoubtedly superior to Liu Kai, both in physical and fighting ability, but Liu Kai outsmarted him.

Though Sergio Von Croy loves his assaults, Liu Kai reduces the damage with his defense. After a bit, Sergio Von Croy gets slower because his body doesn't get enough air to sustain his fast movements. Liu Kai, on the other hand, regulates his breathing while suppressing it.

Since Sergio Von Croy was out of oxygen in his body, Liu Kai took the opportunity to strike back. Sergio Von Croy did not see this coming and was totally unguarded as Liu Kai kneed his chin.

Jin Chow is so surprised that Liu Kai has won. In any case, he's weaker if they don't use their skills, but he somehow managed to find a way to defeat Sergio Von Croy.

There's something about Liu Kai that's really going to impress you. Even his thought doesn't make sense like a brainless man who throws his life away when he battled a giant wasp.

Sergio Von Croy stood up and remained quiet about his defeat. Jin Chow did not approach him as he looked angry at himself.

The defeat is painful for Sergio, but at the same time, content with the task inwardly. He didn't expect them to be that fascinating. At first, he thought he had met a poor knight with a strange, defenseless guy.

But now he can see their ability to become greater, and he doesn't want to fall behind.

'Next time, I will turn our battle records the other way around.' Sergio Von Croy thought to himself.

The three of them hunt for their food and prepare it afterward.

Liu Kai cut his wrist to inflict damage on himself and to activate his skill 'Berserk.'

"What are you doing?" Jin Chow and Sergio felt the sudden change in Liu Kai and asked him.

"Don't bother me. I'm trying something." Liu Kai looked at them and answered.

Jin Chow and Sergio disregarded him and prepared to sleep.

Liu Kai is trying to control himself even with 'Berserk' activated. He will also trigger 'Berserk' every day to get used to its power and gain aftereffect to raise his stats.

'There shouldn't be any problem since the lousy effect of 'Berserk' can be changed by his other skill named Alter.' Liu Kai spoke to himself after he cut his wrist.
