61 Memorial

Liu Kai came back to Chief Brashford's tiny house to discuss a few things with them. But once he saw their faces, he decided not to talk about it yet. They are in the living room, sitting, and doing nothing.

"Where's Chief?" asked Liu Kai.

Sergio pointed towards the direction of Chief Brashford's Smithy.

He's planning to tell them what they should do based on what he knew about the creatures after 'The monster' in his dream unlocked his memories about the book.

King Lee's eyes are swollen from crying a lot yesterday. Sergio and Jin Chow also wore a gloomy face. It looked like everyone needed time to get over what happened.

Liu Kai broke off the silence and said, "I heard that everyone had decided to follow the tradition of the dwarves to pay respect to those who didn't make it back here."

"I know this is painful and hard for everyone here since we were there when everything happened. But... we can't change things in the past. We need to stand tall and firm for those families."

"It will be this day before the sunset. Let's meet in the south of the village, on the seaside."

Liu Kai left them speechless and went directly to the Smithy.

While walking, he saw the stores in the market closed today. All the people inside the village are preparing for the memorial of the fallen dwarves and martial artists. Almost every establishment is closed aside from a few, like the hot spring.

Based on what Liu Kai had learned while he's on his way to Chief's house, they need to have a memorial service right away since they failed to retrieve bodies for burial.

Well, thinking about it, Liu Kai managed to retrieve all of it, thanks to his new skill. He even saw the vines complete the bodies despite it being inside the giant bug's stomach. But of course, he can't tell them that.

He saw some dwarves coming in and out from the smithy, carrying the equipment inside to a different place. He directly went inside, conscious about what's going on.

"Chief!"

Chief Brashford tilted his head, looking for who called him.

"Oya, Liu Kai."

Liu Kai walked closer, avoiding the dwarves walking in and out of the smithy.

"Chief, what's going on here?"

"Ahhh, I donated all the weapon supplies here to the newly formed dwarves' brigade."

"Since the Giant Cursed Tree is now gone, we need people to take care of the east of the village while we are looking for resources to build weapons to defend our land."

'As expected, for this village to survive in the middle of this place, they need to have a lot of precautions. They already thought about the defensive strategy, handling the east even though they are mourning. They are so fast when it comes to defending the village.'

Dwarves are intelligent creatures. But they are not fighters. For them to make up on the enormous difference between their race and the goblins, they need to build different powerful weapons and defensive mechanisms to fight toe to toe against those animals. With time and enough resources, they can take over lands from the goblins.

Dwarves and Goblins are in a constant war in the third realm. Even after ages, no one completely won the war.

Liu Kai remembered it all from the book. At volume three, it dealt with everything about the third realm. So Liu Kai knew a lot about the dwarves and goblins now after reclaiming his memories.

"Chief, can you repair my equipment?" asked Liu Kai, showing his worn-out tunic and chainmail.

"I lost the cloak in the forest. If still possible, can you make me a new one?" Liu Kai added.

"Of course, why are you asking?" asked Chief Brashford, grabbing the equipment out of his hands.

"Ah, I thought we are running out of resources already," answered Liu Kai.

"That's true. To be honest, I'm considering preparing for another raid. I know it's too early after what happened, but we are running low on resources. More people will suffer if I don't take action."

"I agree with that. Prevention is better than cure, after all. I won't let this village perish, Chief. I'll stay out of the house in the meantime. Can I get the equipment tomorrow morning?"

"I'll try my best. Give me some of your blood, this needs to be reforged."

Chief Brashford looked side to side and grabbed a kit with a syringe inside.

"Alright."

Chief Brashford took blood from Liu Kai's arms and put it inside a small glass bottle.

"Thanks, Chief, I'll see you later before the sunset." He waved his hand and went out to the smithy.

*****

Everyone gathered in the eastern part of the village.

Liu Kai came with Choi Nayeon, both wearing a suit and tie as everyone does. They joined Chief Brashford, standing in front of the three knights.

They are close to the ocean, and people are surrounding a big fire. They are holding various instruments for the event.

They contained the fire inside of woods shaped like a box.

The newly formed brigade team is on the lookout, walking in the distance to look for an enemy.

As the sun goes down, the relatives or acquaintances of those who died threw different things on the fire. They believed that they threw those things for it not to be used to pay respect to the dead.

King Lee walked closer to the fire and clenched his fist while holding some uniforms. After a moment, he threw it on the flame.

One after another did the same, and after everyone was done, they started to play the instrument and sang songs for the dead.

Liu Kai and Choi Nayeon are standing from a distance, with the two knights beside them, observing them, mourning, and singing their hearts out from their loss.
