11 Chapter Ten

♦Cyril's POV♦

I couldn't go home so I went to the only place I could get peace and quiet, now I'm in an abandoned park.

"What have I done?" I think aloud.

Lunch was supposed to be good, other than the scene Selena caused by ripping out that girl's heart, our first day of school was meant to be just fine.

Ember wasn't supposed to burn anyone, Ciaran should have kept his foul manners in the trash where it belonged for fuck's sake.

My phone's continuous beeping finally brings me out of my thoughts, I check and see missed calls and voice mails from Selena and September.

I listen to Selena's first and ball my fist, her words from school thrummed a steady beat in my head. Then I touched the screen to listen to September's.

"Cyril are you okay? You didn't come home after school, just wanted to check up on you."

She sounded normal, though there was a hint of sadness.

I'm trying to call to tell her I'm fine and on my way back home but she's not picking up and neither is Selena.

'Ember? Elena?' I call mentally when I get home.

"They're out Sir." Madeline informs me when I asks her where they are.

"You know where to?" I ask halfheartedly, I already know her answer.

"Not a clue Sir." She replies, bowing before dematerializing.

I trace their phones - they kill me if they find out though, but that's a worry for another day.

I trace them to Club 202 and wonder what they would be doing there, it's pretty much a ghost town at this time of the day.

♦Selena's POV♦

"... and I don't get it..." Was the last thing I hear Ciaran say before my mind wanders off.

"Selena?" Ciaran calls, waving a hand in my face.

"What" I snap, slapping his hand in annoyance.

"Whoa! Hold your horses, just wanted to ask who invited Cyril?" He asks, his hands up in surrender.

His tall figure reached our table.

"What's 'he' doing here." I ask, not looking at him.

"What's he doing here?" Cyril mimics me with a glare at Ciaran. His slender fingers massaging his temples.

"Just what I was asking." I say blatantly.

Cyril glares at me for a second but my expressionless face doesn't waver.

"I'm talking about him." He says pointing at Ciaran.

"I invited him." I deadpan.

"Yeah man, I think I'm starting to get under her skin." Ivor says, a hideous smirk plastered on his face.

"You wish." I mutter under my breath.

"You think?" Cyril voices out.

"What's your problem if I invited him anyway, he's your friend, isn't he?" I taunt.

"Get your hands off her." Cyril orders coldly.

I look over to see Ciaran throw a hand over Ember's shoulders.

"Why?" Ciaran shrugged nonplussed, tucking an unreactive September closer. "She's not complaining.

That sure sounded reasonable to the dimwit, I muse, waiting for Cyril's reaction.

Dane's presence tickles my consciousness and I look up to see him come in with Cameron.

He sees me immediately too but Cameron doesn't, and he's about to inform him when he takes a good look at what's cooking at our table.

"Shit!" I hear him mutter under his breath. He's across the room, alright - but I'm a fucking vampire, remember?

I watch as he tries to distract Cameron.

♦Cameron's POV♦

"Why don't we go over there?" Dane suddenly suggests, pointing at the bar.

"Huh?" I pause as he starts to steer me towards the bar - something niggles at my mind - "You said we're going to sit at our usual table." I remind him, trying to turn my head in that direction.

"Well I changed my mind." He says with a strain in his voice.

"What are you trying to hide?" I burst out, taking a look at our usual table.

My blood runs cold at what I see, the hair on my neck rising, I feel the tips of my fangs poking at the side of my mouth or maybe it's all in my head.

Ignoring Dane's futile attempts to restrain me, I storm over to the table with full intents of ripping Ciaran head and all away from September.

I'm on the verge of carrying out my plan when September's blank tone stops me right me my track.

"I don't remember asking for your help."

I know she's just trying to push me away but it still hurts.

I freeze immediately and turn to study her, something was off - way off. Her usual bright eyes were dead, her hair which I knew she liked to leave down - but that's mostly because it was too much of hassle - was in a messy knot atop her head. That position always gave her migraines.

She downs the remnants of her drink and I panic. September did not drink!

She picks up Ciaran's hand like it was a dead animal and put it in his lap.

"What sort of Supe are you?" She asks curiously, tilting her head, one sandal tipped leg crossing over the other.

"Fallen Angel." Ciaran announces smugly, leaning into her.

That did it.

I pick up Ciaran with one hand and toss him over one shoulder.

"Hey! I was talking to that." She accuses angrily, pushing past me to help him up.

"I don't even know why I came here." I say with clenched teeth, I could feel the blood boiling under my skin as I watch September get seated again with Ciaran.

"So you're just going to leave like a scared puppy?" Selena taunts from her perch on Dane's lap.

"Sel." Dane warns, looking hopeless at the entire fucked up matter.

"What? He came here to make peace and just because September's uncooperative, he's just going to get all huffy and leave." She continues. "How heroic."

"I'm sitting right here you know." September says tiredly and I'm just sad.

"Look Septe, I'm really sorry about everything, you know I don't mean any harm." I finally say, giving in to Selena's words.

"I don't." September shrugs.

I'm struck stupid. She didn't even trust me, hell! She doesn't even know me.

"Yeah, I guess you have every right to say that." I murmur, scrubbing my face. "I mean, I'm no one to you in the first place."

"I'm not even sure anymore." September says in frustration.

"Oh boy!" Selena pipes up, taking a sip of her drink.

"I think you guys could use some space." Ari says gravely, although I think that's the last thing she wants to do right then.

She surprises me by shooing everyone to the dance floor.

"We all have to be home early, remember? School tomorrow?" Cyril reminds even as Arianna propels him towards the dance floor.

"Yeah let's go," Dane agrees, supporting his best friend.

"We could use the music." Dane adds, already on his feet and all over Selena.

"Get a room." I hear Arianna mumble.

"Not on my watch." Cyril threatens already in between them.

I just want them all to go already.

"So, I have to go too." Ciaran whines.

"Umm... Yeah!" I yell impulsively.

As they get lost in the crowd, I turn to settle this matter once and for all with September.

"You know what?" She starts to say.

I really don't like the sound of that.

"I think I'm going to go, Good night Cameron." She gets up, yanking her silver tank top down and smoothening over her denim shorts. She walks away.

I down Ciaran's beer in a gulp, I make a move to signal the waiter intending on getting wasted.

I hear the call of my pack's Alpha through the mental link and I look around to find her, at her signal I get up to trudge to her. Whining lowly in my throat at my thwarted plans.
