Chapter Four

♦September's POV♦

Consciousness comes like a bad movie, my vision is blurry and everything hurts. Plus, my head feels like a rhinoceros stampede even breathing is pure agony.

"I'm surprised you didn't wake up with a Russian accent." Selena remarks from her seat beside my bed, not looking up from her book.

Finally, Selena looks up from her book and she looks at me with an amused face. "What the hell were you thinking September?" She asks smirk pulling at her lips.

"What happened?" I ask confused, not able to remember a thing.

"Some guy brought you back to our table." She replies, standing up and walking towards the door. "Madeline!" she yells down the long hallway before going back to her seat.

"Pretty eyes?" I ask hopefully.

"On second thoughts, I think you did wake up with a Russian accent." She furrows her brows at me.

Before my mushy brain can formulate a comeback, Madeline walks into the room.

"Yes Elena."

"Umm... September has a migraine, get something for it. Would you whip up some breakfast? Maybe oats and scrambled eggs?" After a thought, she adds "I'd love a tall glass of blood as well, I'm drained."

"Sure." Madeline replies cheerily, taking her leave.

"I think I need to shower." I finally announce, sitting up. I feel my head drop down my throat and I bite out a curse but I don't let it stop me, cradling my head in my hands I bravely stumble over to the shower. "This is the last time I'll do so much as look twice at an alcoholic drink." I mumble dazedly.

"Might I add that it was also your first?" Selena pipes up looking very pleased with herself.

"Screw you." I stick my tongue out at her, emerging later with a huge white towel wrapped around me. I look up to see Selena petting her glass of blood. "Geez, I feel alive." I tell myself, pulling out a pair of pants and a loose-fitting top.

"Trust me you look it." Selena comments, looking at herself into the floor to ceiling mirror. Her reaction couldn't give away her emotions on how she felt about her looks, even though she looked dashing.

Luckily enough, our mom may be a little below normal but she's one hot vampire mom. We got her looks, her body to be precise, every other thing fell from the sky.

Same platinum blonde hair with streaks of black, Selena wears a blank look and looks away from the mirror. She's in biker shorts and a denim jacket, her legs are covered in sandals and her long, wavy hair is in a messy ponytail.

It's creepy how we look so much like each other at times, everything is pretty much the same apart from the hair and eyes but even so the differences are very subtle. My head is covered with long, wild, platinum - blonde curls and my Bambi eyes are a darker shade of green while her platinum blonde hair is made up of perfect waves and her eyes are emerald green with a mischievous twinkle in it most times. Her slanted eyes made her look like a cat and earned her the name 'Kitty' wherever she went even though we're nowhere near cats.

"Dane didn't come." Selena says turning around to face me.

"Oh, how did you know I was about to ask?" I ask, sitting on the cream sofa by the window.

"I just did." She shrugs, "anyway, I'm tired of having to deal with his jerky attitude." Selena says, coming to join me on the sofa. "That doesn't matter now, I came to spend some time with you so what do you wanna do?"

Now while we were twins, we hadn't done the bonded, soul mate thing for ages and even though this is beyond weird, I decide to just go with it, besides I could gain a lot in return and a really good idea hits me.

"Simple," I say plainly without hesitation. "Teach me to stare down mother."
