‘Sh*t’

I looked back and saw a lady in a silly smile beneath her palms. I felt extremely shy and awkward, and also, may be perplexed to some extent, 'cause without knowing the reason I headed straight towards the car.

'What's the reason of my anger? I don't know whether Nadia had already known about Jensen, or even if she had come to know, this shouldn't be my expression at least.'

I opened the back-seat door and climbed in and, as expected I noticed, Jensen and Nadia with an exchange of smile between themselves.

"What's so funny about it Nadia?"- I put the question ahead in a tone mixed with slight false anger. They didn't answer and the car started rolling. Jensen was driving in left hand, while his cracked right hand is balancing the steering. Nadia was watching him with an admiring look. She noticed that I was watching and she looked outside the window, and me? Of course I had a fix glance on Jensen, a rear view mirror look.

'He still looks same, even since I fell in love with him.''

"Can I put the radio on, uncle? Mom loves music"

An abrupt hostility of Nadia embarrassed me,

"He's driving, Nadia. And he has a crack on his hand as well. So don't disturb your young uncle'."- I handled my situation someway but before I say further Jensen smiled at her and said, "Don't you want to know my name or will I be only a young uncle?"

"Oh! I know that. I know your name J,E,N,S,E,N…" Nadia spelt it one by one.

"Yup. But how could you come to know that?" Amazed he looked at Nadia and further added, "but you can call me Jen."

'I used to call him in the name.'

"Okay Jen! So are you going to be disturbed if I turn the radio on?"- Nadia asked him, and he shook his head, 'Nope', and without further delay Nadia turned the radio on which tuned a drum beat with a distinct bass.

"WOO! I LIKE THE SONG."- Jen said enchanted.

"I like it too."- Nadia added.

The car as if was just jumping, in joy of a togetherness, or may be, it's a mere feeling of mine.

"MOTHER-FATHER GENTLEMEN."- Jensen, Nadia together started singing the song loud enough while Jen had a careful gaze at the road signals. My task was to notice them in joy although I had a couple of look exchanges with Jen and I found a profound peace without any anxiety or agony in his look.

'I don't know what mental state one should have to attain that particular look.'

We reached home in half n' hour. Meanwhile, Nadia had directed the driver about the place where she lives; apartment name, flat number, street number, by-lane, alley and every detail. Jen had been a competent patient listener all through and repeating certain mistakes intentionally he intervened Nadia and finally reached the destination. I got off first and opened the door for Nadia. She came down and I closed the door behind.

"Thank you Mr.….

J. Freemen, Jensen Freemen.

It's just reminded me, I hadn't had a single exchange of words since we met, and I was so kind of, perplexed by the incident that, I absolutely got stuck by some dumbness and ignored the fact that, it's Jen, father of my daughter, and my daughter got saved by the same man accidentally because of a minor accident.

"…in short, friends call me Jen."

"Wow, I am …"

"Mrs. Hannah Masefield. It shows in your brooch, ma'am."

"Thank you again Mr. Jen for good help in deed. I will never forget…"

"Jen! You should come with us." Nadia paved the way from the imminent stalemate situation between two of us. But…

'What the hell she is doing?'

But Jensen can't come now, he had to cancel her invitation, he had a prior fixed meeting. But, no, Nadia won't let it happen, she went closer to him and started pulling his hand to get him down from the car.

"Please come for once, Mr. Jen, if you like to have a cappuccino in the mid-afternoon." Both Nadia and Mr. Freeman stared at me with different distinguished expressions of them.

"Of course if it doesn't create any problem in your schedule."- I further added. I saw he had pulled off his seat belt and got down from the car.

'Shit.'
