17 Think Deep!!.

“What are you going to do now?” Luke asked.

”I honestly don’t know, Luke. But one thing I’m sure of is the fact that I love him. I’m still in love with Jason.” I said.

”McKenna, I get it. I totally do but you should understand what I’m saying too. Don’t let your love for Jason cloud your judgements. Your father had a reason for doing this, you know he never does anything without having a solid reason.” He said just as he parked the car at the underground parking of the hotel.

”I know that. You wanna come in?” I got out and slammed the door.

”Nahh, I’m gonna pass tonight. I have some work to turn in by Friday. Don’t want my boss giving me the ‘you ain’t doing the job I’m paying you for’ look.”

”I don’t have such look.” I said chuckling.

”Uhh, yeah, you do.” He said.

”Whatever.” I sticked my tongue out to him.

”Wow, so mature for a 24 year old woman.”

”Wow, so childish for a 26 year old man.” I retorted.

”Touché.” He said looking at me weirdly.

”Why are you looking at me like that?”

”You came to me for advice but you never got to hear my point of view on the matter.” I laughed.

”Ohh, wise man of our age, please feed us with your eye opening and knowledgeable words of wisdom.”I said.

”Yeah, you should pick a thing or two from me.”

”Yeah, yeah. Whatever.”

“But seriously, McKenna. You have a really big heart that trusts and loves easily. That’s one of the reasons why it’s easy to fall in love with you. Just for once, search deep within you and see things from a different perspective. I’ve got to go.” He said and tapped me on my shoulders.

”You’ve got to stop hitting women.” He turned around raising his eyebrows.

”I don’t hit women, I hit naughty girls.” He winked with a smirk playing on his lips.

”Oh God, you’re impossible. Bye now.” I said as I made my way to the hotel.

”You know you love me.” He shouted after me. I shook my head and smiled. He sure knows how to make a lady happy after a long day. Ewww, okay, that sounded really weird, right?

I made my way to the penthouse. As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I saw Adeline waiting for me.

”You’re gonna dig a hole in the floor if you keep the whole pacing thingy up.” I said as I approached her. She turned to look at me.

”There you are. What on earth kept you so long? I’ve been waiting forever for you.” She said. She looks different. Something is different. She’s not smiling like she usually does.

”Are you okay? Is everything okay?” I asked.

”Yeah, everything is fine. Where were you today? I came here straight from work but Victoria said you ain’t back yet. I called Luke and he told me you were with him.” She gushed out.

”Calm down, girl. I had some meeting with my dad’s lawyer, that’s all.” I said. “Are you sure you’re doing good, Ada?”

”Yeah, I’m fine. And please don’t call me that, I feel like you’re calling me by my twin’s name.”

“You got a twin? Like you were two when you were born? Like there was a you and another you born at the same time?” She looks at me like I’ve gone insane.

”Yeeeah. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works. Are you okay, McKenna? Cause you sound like they messed with your brain a little.” She said going into the house.

”It’s not my fault I didn’t know.I was shocked, alright. I’m pretty sure I say weird things when I’m surprised and hungry. Which means I’m hungry now. I need food.” I said as I flopped down on the couch.

“Wanna order takeout? I’ll kill for Chinese right now.”she said.

”I’m down for it, please. I think there’s one down the road.” I said as I remember passing by one a couple of times on my way to work.

“Yeah, I know. Best chow mein noddles ever.”She giggled as she stood up to call the restaurant.

”Of course you already tried it.” I rolled my eyes at her.

”Hey, a girl is allowed to love her chow mein. You okay with the fried rice or chow mein or Kang pao chicken? What do you want?”

”Hmm, you know your Chinese, don’t ya?”

”You bet your ass, I do.” I laughed and shakes my head.

”I’m good with anything as long as there’s no pickles or garlic in it.”

”You hate garlics?” She asked surprised.

”Allergic actually.” I said.

“Alright then. I’ve always known you were a pretty weird kid though.” I laughed.

”I didn’t pick what I’ll be allergic to, Sissy.” She rolled her eyes.

”Whatever.” She sang as she rang the restaurant.

“Where’s Liam?” I asked when I didn’t see any trace of him.

”Ohh, he asked to go to a sleepover. He claimed you agreed to it and Vicky said you knew about it so I just let him go.” She said still trying to get a hold of the restaurant.

”Ooh, yeah. He called. God, I’m so tired.I’m gonna go change, be right back.” I said and stood up to go to my room. I suddenly remembered something and I looked over my shoulder. “Hey, you sleeping over tonight? Could use the company.”

”I’ll love to.” She smiled.

”Good. Be right back then. Make yourself at home.” I got to my room and immediately stepped into the shower.

I got thinking. You know the shower is a good thinking spot. With the warm water running, I feel like my brain wants to process something but some part of me is forcing it out.

Why do I feel like I should listen to my father just this one time? Why do I feel like there’s more to the story than I know. Dad doesn’t just do things like this. He always handles his business in a more professional way than this. Some part of me felt like that letter was more of a help me note than a last wish. The way the letter was constructed, it was like he knew he was going to die. What on earth is going on?

”Girl, you okay in there? You’ve been in there for 20 minutes now. Food’s almost here. Get out.” I heard Adeline’s voice from way across the house. Damn, she’s loud.

I stepped out of the shower and took my towel from its rack.I quickly threw on one of a short and a tanker top. I allowed my hair to air dry so I put it in a rough bun and went downstairs. I don’t see Adeline in the living room but I hear whispers so I’m guessing food’s here.

I took the remote to hopefully look for a movie that we could possibly watch while eating. I wonder what’s taking her so long.

”What the hell! You don’t fucking get to do that.” I heard Adeline yell at someone.

”I have to talk to her. It’s urgent.I must see her now.”

It’s him. He’s here. God, what do I do? I haven’t decided yet. What will I tell him?
