Chapter 18

“Let’s hope he’s not parked right by the alley,” Amery murmured as he and Myles took the same route the man had to leave the patio. They got over the wall just in time to see his shadow as he walked toward the parkway.

While they followed him, Amery took out his phone. The man had made it past the front of the house by thetime they got to the street. He walked a few yards farther to a dark blue SUV. Amery began taking pictures, getting the license plate and a sideview of the man as he got into the car. Unfortunately, a streetlight reflecting off the windshield kept him from photographing the man’s face as he pulled out of the parking space. Amery did get one more shot as the man drove by them.

“He’ll be long gone by the time we get to the car,” Myles said. “But he did turn right onto Syracuse,for whatever that’s worth.”

“Not a hell of a lot. Let’s get home so I can run his license plate.”
