Prologue

"We Messed Up"

"They tricked us, and like little puppets on a string, we did everything they wanted us to do," muttered a blue-eyed man as he stared at the sword that was plunged inside his chest.

Blood trickled down his lips, and his left arm was gone, with the 'ground' under him dyed red as he fell to his knees.

He could feel it; his end was approaching, and despite feeling scared at the prospect of dying like one would expect, the man smiled.

This wasn't because he was insane or that he didn't fear death.

No, he was afraid of death, just like everyone else, but more than that, he was ashamed of the mistake he and his party had made.

As the man looked around him, all he saw was a black void.

There was nothing around him.

After all, Earth had already been destroyed, and he was the last of his people alive.

And soon even he would fall like the rest of his people.

Meaning humanity was soon going to go extinct just like all the other races in the universe, which would spell the end for their beloved universe once and for all.

And the worst part was that all of this happened because of one single mistake that they had made.

Knowing all of this, one might wonder why the man was still smiling mere moments before his death, despite having doomed everyone.

The answer to that question was simple: because he could feel it.

He could feel the gaze of the one who was watching his final moments.

The gaze of the one who was going to inherit his will and hopefully right his wrongs.

"I know you can see me," said the blue-eyed man to seemingly no one, perfectly resembling a man who had gone insane moments before his death, which maybe wasn't that far off the truth.

Despite his words, nothing happened, but the man paid it no mind as he continued speaking what he needed to say before he disappeared forever.

"I know none of this makes sense to you right now."

"But still, in my final moments, please let me be selfish one more time and ask you to save our world."

"Please fix our mistakes and save this planet."

The previously calm and composed voice of the man was now nowhere to be found, and what replaced it was the voice of a man who was being crushed by guilt and regret for what he had done.

It was the voice of a desperate man seeking salvation.

Right after he finished his words, space started cracking as the voice trembled in fear of the being who was entering.

Seeing this man smiled one last time, having already accepted his fate, as he said,.

"To the one who has inherited my will, I wish you the very best for the journey, which I'm sure will be filled with hardships."

"But if you try hard enough, you just might be able to laugh and smile even in our fucked-up world, just like I learned to do."

"Ahhhh!!!" a bald boy exclaimed in terror as he jumped from his bed and fell to the ground.

~BAMM!!~

"Alexx, Oh God, what happened?" asked a pretty brown-haired girl with hazel eyes as she barged inside the hospital room and rushed to assist her brother.

The girl was clearly alarmed by the noise, which caused her panicked expression, and her expression only got worse once she saw the condition of the boy on the ground.

She rushed to help her brother, and after a bit of effort, she managed to place him on the hospital bed.

But to her complete horror, her brother's already pale skin had lost even more colour, and he was completely covered in sweat and had even passed out.

As if that wasn't bad enough, just touching him made her feel like her hand was on fire; she couldn't even imagine what Alex was going through.

Unsure of what to do and scared for the safety of her brother, she panicked and rushed outside to call the nearby doctors and nurses.

Thankfully, she managed to find one rather quickly and got him to look after Alex's condition.

After a few minutes, the doctor came out of the room, as he said.

"Don't worry, Mrs. White, the kid was just having a nightmare."

For some reason, Rose had a hard time believing this, so she tried to protest.

"But that can't be. I remember his body temperature skyrocketing; are you sure you properly checked?" she tried to argue.

Hearing this, the doctor was slightly annoyed at being doubted, but he didn't let it show, as he knew that she was just worried about her little brother.

"If you don't believe me, how about going inside to check up on him yourself?" he suggested.

"Fine, I'll do that, but stay close by. If I notice anything wrong with him, I'll have to trouble you again," Rose said as she opened the door and went inside.

Immediately after stepping inside, she was greeted by a young, bald teenage boy with beautiful hazel eyes similar to her own.

The boy was wearing a traditional hospital patient gown and looked to be in deep thought, as he didn't even notice his sister entering his room.

The boy looked weak and had dark circles under his eyes despite being given all the nutrition and sleep that his body needed.

However, perhaps the most noticeable thing about him was the plaster wrapped around both of his legs.

These plasters were the result of an accident he had suffered from at the age of 12, which killed both of his parents and even ended up crippling him.

But this didn't bother Rose; to her, he was the most precious thing in the world.

After all, he was the only family she had left.

She expressed her excitement at seeing him awake again.

"Hi Alex, what happened to you earlier?"

Her voice seemed to work, as it finally helped Alex snap back to reality and notice her.

"Hi sis"

"Don't worry about it; I was just having a nightmare," he said as he brushed his hand, trying to tell her that it was nothing.

"I see." Even after hearing his reassurance, Rose seemed unconvinced, but she decided not to press the issue further.

After a few seconds of silence, she was surprised to once again find Alex out of it and instead stuck in deep thought, like when she first entered the room.

This time, instead of disturbing him, she decided to take her leave and give him room to think.

However, just when she was about to leave, she was stopped as a familiar voice called out to her.

"Wait, sis, we need to talk."
