Chapter eleven Admitted

"How is she?" I ask entering the area where dad was still examining the young lady. "Bad son, very bad. How is the baby?" "She has a lung infection and she's severely dehydrated." "We don't have a choice son both she and her daughter will have to be admitted. We need to get them to the ICU now." Dad said removing his gloves and taking out his phone he made a call.

"But what if the person she's running from finds her, she did say no hospital," I said worriedly. "This is a private hospital so trust me when I say that here is the last place that person would look for her."

I sat in one of the rooms with my mom and sister while dad and a team of doctors and nurses took care of the young lady and her baby, discreetly of course.

I had been so caught up in taking care of them that for a moment I had forgotten about my problems but now as we sat there waiting for an update from dad everything came rushing back and I suddenly felt sick all over again.

I was trying to suppress the nauseating sensation that was washing over me in waves when my brothers and cousins walked in. "Thank God, where the hell have you been, we've been calling you, we even went to your house but no one was there, we didn't know what else to do so we called dad and he told us that you were here. Is Kayla here? Is the baby alright?" Caleb asks breathing heavily as the questions flew from his lips.

The mention of her name made me feel worst, the dizziness came back, so did the pain in my chest and I could feel my lungs closing.

"My- mask…. I need my…..oxygen mask ….please." I said as the room began spinning again. "Where is his mask?" Fabian asks panicked. "All the way down in his car." My sister answers. "We need an oxygen mask in here now!" Caleb shouts running towards one of the doctors who quickly located one and handed it to him. Caleb ran back into the room and placed the mask over my face and I sucked in the air hungrily.

"What is going on?" Dad asks stepping into the room. "Ty had trouble breathing." Mom said rubbing my back. "How are they?" I ask. "Well the baby will have to remain here for a few days but her mother may be here longer," Dad said. "What happened to her?" Mom asks.

"Oh, man the question is what didn't? Dad said taking a seat in one of the chairs. "Looks to me like someone was trying to kill the poor girl. She was beaten very badly, she has three fractured ribs; there is also evidence to indicate that she was raped and to think she only gave birth two weeks ago and there are scars which tell me that she has suffered some very serious abuse in the past." Dad said and we all winced at the description of her injuries.

"Who are we talking about?" Fabian asks. "The young lady and her baby that Tyler helped tonight," Tatiana answered. "If you hadn't helped her she would have bled to death, neither she nor her child would have made it through the night," Dad adds. "You take your oath to save lives seriously don't you brother?" Caleb teased.

"She was the one that saved me actually," I said sadly as tears ran down my face. "What do you mean?' Fabian asks. "How could she have helped anyone in the state she is in?" Caleb asks. "I don't know; all I know is that I blacked out at the side of the road with a loaded weapon on me, and if it wasn't for the grace of God and that young lady, I would probably be dead right now." I sob and draw in a shuddered breath.

"Wait, I don't understand..what…." Dad began but I continue before he could begin asking questions. "I remember having the mask in my hands but I blacked out before I could get it over my face and as badly as she was hurt she somehow manages to get it on me," I said wiping my eyes.

"Whoa, back up, hang on a sec, the last time I spoke to you, you were on your way back home to get your wallet, so when, where and why did you blackout?" Fabian asks.

"Well seeing as though your blackouts are triggered by anger, the most pressing of those three questions is why did you blackout?" Dad asks. "And if Kayla isn't here with you and she's not at the house, then where the hell is she?" Kevin asks in concern.

I made a sound between a sob and a groan. "Maybe she went after her lover." I sneered in disgust. "Her what now!" Caleb shouts. "The man I caught her going down on in our bed tonight when I went back to get my wallet." I blurted out, my entire body shaking with rage. I wipe my face with my rag and took a sip of water from the bottle while taking deep breathes to steady my heartbeats.

"My fiancée; the woman I love with all my heart; the woman I gave my complete trust to, the woman I was planning on marrying in the next few weeks was in our bed; our bed, going down on another man, minutes after I leave my house, minutes after making love to me." I sob.

"Why, I don't understand why she would do this to me." They were all so shocked that no one spoke for about five minutes. "Please tell me that man is nursing a bullet wound right now," Caleb said angrily.

"As much as I would like to tell you that he's; I can't, because the one who really deserves the bullet is Kayla. The man didn't even know that she was engaged, but it was obvious that he had seen me before maybe more than once but he thought I was her overprotective brother."

"Her what?" Fabian asks in disbelief. "Why would he think that?" Tatiana asks when she finally recovers from her shock. "Because Kayla told him that I was her brother and because we're both Indians he believed her. He said the baby she lost two years ago was his, and the one she's carrying now is….is his….too." I said gasping for air before putting the mask back over my face.

"That's sick." Caleb sneered. My parents were red with anger, my mom I can understand because she has very light skin but my father has dark skin so for his face to be red he must be extremely furious at this point but who could blame him.

"I seriously don't believe this, I allowed my youngest son to moved in with that woman and this is what she did to you, that's it, you're moving back home effective immediately." Mom said through gritted teeth.

"You never should have moved in with her in the first place and don't even think of arguing with me, I don't want to see her lying face again." Mom gritted out. "That may be unavoidable sweetheart, I mean the child she is carrying could still be Ty's; I'm so sorry she betrayed you like this son, I knew how much you love her."

"Yeah, enough to defy all of us for her," Caleb grumbles. "Telling you not to move in with her was like telling you not to breathe and now you're right back where you were before you met her, sad, depressed, and angry," Fabian said running his hands over his face.

"Maybe I brought this on myself." I said as tears continues to run down my face' try as I may I don't seem to be able to stop them. "No you didn't, don't ever say that again." Dad orders, he then looked at his watch and sigh heavily. "Alright, it's now quarter to five; I'll stay here with the young lady and her child, you can all go home and get some rest." He said.

"I'm not leaving; I won't be able to sleep anyway," I said with a painful moan. "Okay, we'll sort all this out later," Dad said hugging me.

"I'm so sorry bro, I was really hoping you wouldn't have to go through this again, but we're here for you alright, just hang in there," Fabian said patting me on the back but Caleb and Tatiana both hugged me at the same time. "We love you brother." She whispers as she hugs me. "I …love you…guys too." I sob.
