Thanks for the Power Stones. In return I give you a riddle. There was a man who was born before his father, killed his mother, and married his sister. Yet, there was nothing wrong with what he had done. Why? Enjoy the chapter!)

"Introducing her royal highness, princess Aella Bestia and her fiancé his highness, prince Syrin Fortis."

Hmm, I wasn't expecting that. What is the beast king up to?

When we were announced in such a way, the etiquette lessons kicked in. I held out my arm for Princess Aella to grasp. Once she grasped my arm, we walked down the red carpet together. The Nobles that have gathered here had mixed reactions, but all of them were surprised. I guess the beast king hasn't announced the marriage contract yet. Which means he was saving it for a big moment. He must be using it for some kind of political move. The question is which Noble or country is he using it against.

I'm sure that he's also using this little stunt as a nudge for us to accept the marriage contract. This is probably his way of publicly accepting the marriage as well. Many Nobles on each side of the red carpet wore disappointed expressions. They must have been trying to wed their sons to the princess. Some young Nobles were looking at me as if I stole their wife. They must have been trying to marry Aella as well. A good portion of the nobles wore happy smiles and nodded in approval, but who know if that's an act or not. It must be an act for a couple of them at least.

As we make our way down the red carpet, on either side of us the nobles bowed formally. When we reached the end of the carpet and the throne was in front of us, we both kneeled towards the beast king and greeted him formally.

"Your Majesty." I say as I kneel down.

"Royal father." Aella says from beside me as she kneels as well.

That's the bad thing about gatherings like this. Even the children have to act so formally in front of their own parents. I'm so glad that neither of my parents ever cared about this. The nobles of our kingdom are already growing used to the way we act, but if we were to act like that in some other country's they would be very surprised.

The king looked us over for a moment and stood from his throne.

"It's good to have my future son in law staying in Lacum to attend Sitworth Academy." The king announces to the room filled with Nobles. "He will be enrolling in the same class as my youngest daughter Ruby. Some of your children will no doubt be in the same class. As you can all guess, this is my way of announcing an engagement between our kingdom and the Fortis kingdom. There will be an event celebrating young prince Syrins arrival tomorrow night."

"Thank you for making me feel so welcomed, your Majesty." I say with a bit of healthy sarcasm.

"Your welcome, prince Syrin." He responds with a sh*t eating grin.

This annoying old man is really asking for it. The first day here and I'm in front of a bunch of Nobles announcing a marriage that very well may not happen. This scheming old man is definitely up to something. Not to mention the party tomorrow. Even though I couldn't care any less about tomorrow's party, I have to go, or else it would be disrespectful to the king. It's in my honor, after all. God, I hate noble get-togethers, but I've been trained in how to act so it won't be so bad. Plus it's a whole new group of Nobles that will be doing the a** kissing I usually get, so maybe a change of scenery will make it interesting.

The Nobles in the room didn't seem to pick up on what just transpired, and if they did, they are hiding it very well.

"Well, I'm sure you need time to get used to your new surroundings. You and my daughter are excused. The maids waiting outside will escort you and your servants to their quarters." The beast king says as we stand from our kneeled positions.

"Have a good day, Your Majesty." I say as Aella takes my arm again and we exit the room.

Aella gives her father a wave as we leave, and on the other side of the doors is a small group of maids. They lead us to our rooms which is the entire west wing of the palace. I guess the beast king really wants me to marry his daughter, huh. As the maids leave us alone, Rem and Nova leave to explore our new living space. Souei stays in my shadow, and I'm left alone with princess Aella.

"So, any idea what your father is scheming?" I say nonchalantly as I take a seat on the couch in the living area. "Other than our eventual marriage, of course."

"Eventual? I don't remember agreeing to wed you?" She says with a raised eyebrow and sits across from me.

"No, not yet you haven't." I say with a knowing smirk.

"Whatever you say, kid." She says with a teasing smile.

"Hey, we talked about this. I'm not a..."

"You're not a kid." She finishes my sentence in the most annoying way possible.

"Yes, I'm glad we seem to be on the same page." I say and decide to change the subject. "Will my dear fiancé be accompanying me to tomorrow's festivities?" I ask in my pompous noble voice.

That voice is actually what my etiquette teacher sounds like. Whenever I imitate him, I have the erg to drink a cup of tea with my pinky finger pointed.

"I would be willing to accompany you, but I'm not sure if I'll be attending." She tries to weasel her way out of coming.

"Oh, what will the other Nobles and the public think. Syrin Fortis attends the party in his honor alone. His fiancé refuses to accompany him, and it all happens the day after her father announces their engagement. Maybe I will find a Nobles daughter to take my mind off of this betrayal. Ew, the scandal. Princess Aella doesn't attend her future husband's welcome party, and instead, a young noble girl steals his heart. No, the young noble girl steals his heart from his unloving fiancé's hands. Yeah, that sounds better. What do you think? Is it a bit much?" I ask casually.

The look on her face is getting sourer by the second. I know she doesn't want to go to the party because she feels the same way about them as I do, but if I have to go then so does she.

"Fine, I'll go." She grounds out as she looks at me with annoyance.

"That's good to hear. What a devoted fiancé you are." I say teasingly as I stand up and give her a peck on the cheek. "I think I'll explore the grounds and get used to my new surroundings, as your father said. See you later, Princess."
