C16 Ranking up & Plots

It's been a couple of weeks, and Souei's trips to the dungeon are starting to pay off. He's been going through levels like crazy, and hasn't slowed down at all. I think he said that he's reached the 70th level of the dungeon already. That by the way is completely unexplored territory. At least to normal adventurers, as some of the old high ranked elders may be able to survive down there. In Souei's case though, he's so overpowered that every level has been a walk in the park. He comes home sometimes complaining about how easy it is. Well, I guess that's what happens when you start off overpowered at rank one.

We have learned something that I don't think anyone knows about. People with dual affinities like me and Souei need double the XP to rank up. Because the power we consume from our kills is split in half. A portion goes to magic and another portion to battle energy. I'm hoping that when it's my time to start ranking up, that I'll have some OP powers like Souei to speed things along, or I could just have souei injure them enough for me to finish them off. Talk about power leveling! Power ranking maybe? The name doesn't matter. I wonder if people do that in this world. If they don't then they're pretty dumb for not thinking of it.

Two weeks passed and I've still been working on my occlumency, and using magic sense as much as my magic allows. I say that because the larger my radius, the more magic it uses. When I hit level 3, I could barely do it for more than an hour. I was worried at first that if I kept leveling up my magic wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand, but I learned that I can lessen the radius. Although doing so will slow down the rate that the skill levels up. Which was alright with me because I'm still young, and have all the time in the world to level the skill up. I literally mean all the time in the world, because I was browsing Souei's side of the system shop and found this.

I don't think that I'll buy it anytime soon, but once I start hunting core beasts I'll prioritize this smart purchase. I wonder if I can gift it to others as well? It would be lonely and sad to see my loved ones get old while I stay the same.

'System, can I gift powers to other people?'

'So, if I buy Immortality for 10,000,000 SP, I can then gift it to others for 5,000,000 SP. right?'

{Yes, but understand that it isn't a one-time payment. You would have to pay that price for every person.}

That's pretty expensive, but hopefully, I can start raking in SP later on. My occlumency is taking longer than expected, but I'm working on it. I just have so many memory's to go through, hopefully, I get through it all soon. I've heard from Souei that the sour half of my family has arrived at there destination. They're staying in Queen Liviana's childhood home. Apparently, she used the excuse of recent events to take a vacation with her son. Of course, that's not the truth, but it's what the people in the palace think. Now that they've arrived, the drama should start. I think I know what's going to happen, but I'll wait and see.

POV King Henry

"Have they started calling their banners yet?" I ask, as I finish my paperwork.

"No, Your Majesty. Duke Freemont has first hired an assassin to kill you and the Crowned Prince. If that fails he will call his banners and any other noble houses that support the eldest prince." A man dressed in all black kneeling beside my desk said.

"Have you taken care of the assassin already?" I ask.

"Yes, he's already been disposed of." He says.

"Good, do you still have access to the body?" I ask.

"No, but I can have someone fetch it." He answers.

"Have it transported to the palace and put his severed head on a pike. That way Duke Freemont knows his assassin failed. In the meantime send a pigeon to our most loyal Noble houses. Tell them to quietly gather their banners, and wait for further orders. Also, contact general Buckmond with the orders to start mobilizing the Royal Army." I order.

"Yes, sir." He says and disappears.

"*sigh* This is going to get bloody, but at least this way I can get rid of the snakes in my kingdom." I sigh again. I wish that I can just assassinate everyone, but that would cause a lot of questions. What would you think if every supporter of the former crowned prince just died one night? Also, many noble houses have high ranked elders backing them. We have our own as well, but I'm not going to send them on an assassination mission. No, this is the best way to do it. High ranking elders usually don't get involved in wars, and only watch to make sure the other side's elders don't join in.

POV Duke Freemont

Finally, my plans are falling into place. If the king didn't pick that kid to be his heir this would've been easier, but I always have a plan B. Many nobles have a lot riding on the eldest prince. Years and years of ass-kissing that many don't want to think they've done for nothing. I've also promised some rewards should my grandson become King. Many won't move unless offered something, so I've been making promises here and there. I have about half the kingdoms forces on my side, so this could go 50/50. I just have to hope the king doesn't know, and we'll at least form our army before he can. That is if the assassination fails, and there's a slim chance that it will succeed, but you have to at least try, right?

POV former Crowned Prince Alexander

How could father pick that idiot over his eldest son? I was born first therefore I'm the crowned prince. That throne is my birthright, IT IS MINE! Father can't just change that as he sees fit. I'm THE KING not that fucking idiot. I swear that when I get my hands on father and that annoying kid I'm going to make their lives miserable. Grandfather says if father won't name me the next king that I'll have to take what's mine. Well, guess what? I'm coming for what's mine.

POV Astrid

Things are going to get chaotic soon. I can feel it in the air. I'll have to speak with my hubby and see what he's up to. I know that he has something to do with this. He usually does. Walking into his office, I see him behind his desk.

"Hubby, what are you plotting?"

POV Syrin

It has been two weeks and I finally know what's happening, and it's as I thought. There's going to be a civil war. Duke Freemont has already called his banners, and the palace is in a panic. Everyone is whispering about rebellion this, rebellion that. Most are scared because a lot of the mid to low-level nobles joined my brother's side. They probably see it as a way to move up for their house. Nothing bad should happen, hopefully. If it does though, I always have Souei clones guarding those close to me.
