POV Aella

After Syrin came to my classroom and talked to me, I feel like I made a very big mistake. It made so much sense before now. Father can't have children anymore, as he has been trying and failing for the past six years. The doctors said that he won't be having any more children ever. Then I find out that my father is planning on making whoever marries me the next king of the Bestia Kingdom. Why can't I be Queen without a king? I may be royalty, but even a royal woman can't be the heir of her own country. When I finally came to that conclusion, I felt so small and useless.

My own father didn't see me as a good candidate to rule the country after him. That is what truly made me feel sad. Well, I think that I would make a fine ruler of this country. Ever since Syrin saved me from the dungeons, I've been studying and training like a madwoman. I didn't want to feel that helpless again, so I put all of my energy into gaining power. Whether that be power of the mind or power of the body. I've been pushing myself to be better, yet my father hasn't seemed to have noticed my blood, sweat, and tears.

Then something odd happened. When Syrin moved to the capital to attend Sitworth, he started getting all flirty and trying to act as if we are already lovers or something. Before he moved here, he was giving me my space to choose if I would marry him or not. We would visit each other and talk about our lives and our futures. He never acted like this before and it caught me off guard almost immediately. Why was he acting differently? We were friends before and now he's acting weird.

Then after my first day of school, I was mad at Syrin for not taking our positions seriously. He teased me all throughout my first lesson and I was livid with him. That night my maid Meghan told me that she overheard a conversation between Syrin and one of his servants about taking over my kingdom through marriage. I didn't believe her at first, but my mind kept racing with doubt and worry. After connecting the dots between his new odd behavior and my maid's testimony, I truly started to believe that Syrin is trying to take over the kingdom. The fact that I was livid with him for ruining my first lesson as a teacher also played a factor in my decision making.

When I confronted him about it, he looked truly surprised. That is when I started sensing that something was wrong. Either he was lying to me or Meghan was lying to me. The question was which one is doing the lying. After school came to an end, Syrin followed me to my classroom and we talked again. This time I knew that it was Meghan that lied to me. I could feel it in my bones. Why would Meghan lie to me though? She's been my personal maid for a long time. Even before that imposter took my place Meghan was in training under my previous personal maid. The idea that she is lying to me is hard to swallow.

After shedding a few tears from the words Syrin left me with, I stormed out of the school with determination to find out why Meghan would lie to me like this. When I arrived at the palace, everyone that saw my mood made way and didn't say a word to me. The ones that couldn't read the mood and tried to strike up conversations were swiftly ignored. Arriving at my family's wing of the palace which is the east wing, I look for Meghan everywhere and couldn't find her. As I was tearing the place apart looking for Meghan, my sister Ruby sees me and looks at me with confusion and worry.

"What's wrong, Aella?" Ruby asks.

"Have you seen Meghan?" I ignore her question and ask.

"Yeah, she was in the kitchen a minute ago. I went to get a snack after school and..." she says and I ignore the rest of what she said.

"Thanks, Sis. See you later." I say and run to the kitchen as fast as possible.

When I arrived near the kitchen, I saw Meghan leaving the kitchen and headed in the opposite direction. She hasn't seemed to have noticed me, so I follow her through the halls of the palace. After following her for a short time, she stops and turns in my direction.

"What gave me away?" She asks with a cold detachment in her voice.

I've never heard her speak like that before. I Look at her in shock for a moment before opening my mouth.

"Syrin is very convincing when he needs to be. Why did you lie to me about Syrin wanting to take over the kingdom? Better yet, who are you working for?" I ask as I stare her down like the backstabbing b*tch she is.

"As if I would tell you. You really are a dumb princess, aren't you? Following a deadly assassin such as myself into a low traffic area of the palace." She says with an evil smile gracing her lips.

After hearing what she said, I look around the general area and see that she's right. I'm such an idiot. I should have gone to the guards and had them take her into custody before questioning her. Now, I'm in a perfect place for her to kill me without anyone knowing. I was too hot-headed and now I'll have to fight for my life if I want to get out of this situation.

"I'm not going down without a fight! You ruined my relationship with Syrin and you'll pay for it." I say and enter a fighting stance as battle energy courses through my body.

"You're just a measly rank 40 fighter, yet you think you have a chance against me? Let me show you how truly f*cked you are." Meghan says as she takes off a necklace she has always worn.

Suddenly, I can sense her power and my chances of survival start to look bleak. She's a rank 65 fighter. The difference in our strength is too big. I could try and run but she's definitely faster than me with that rank. I guess I'm truly f*cked as she said.

"I'm sorry, Syrin. I let you down and ruined our relationship." I say out loud as I won't have a chance to make things right.

"Yes, you're going to die soon, so you should..."

"Your apology is accepted, but you haven't ruined our relationship. You just need some punishment after this situation is done and over with."
