The Walk

After the graduation ceremony and Jackson's unexpected question, I started college. It's been rough, but I was pushing through. The hours of studying and amount of homework was insane. It's been a while since Jackson and I hung out so we decided that it was time for us to have a date. We decided to go on a walk one evening during the final summer days.

We went to one of the most beautiful spot in the city, Rover Lake Park. It was right by the river stretching throughout the entire town. Rover Lake Park had a beautiful flower garden full of rose bushes, a small pound with water lilies and Koi fishes, small waterfalls, a mini maze, and a beautiful walking path of sidewalk that leads right to the downtown area of our town. On top of all, there were many benches right along the sidewalk path and lots of open areas perfect for picnics, volleyball, and many other.

Jackson and I drove down to the beautiful spot where many people gathered. There were lots of families with their young and lots of teenagers playing volleyball. As Jackson and I got out of the car, he reached for my hand and our walks started.

While we engaged in conversations with our hands interlocked with one another, I couldn't help but still sneak a side peak at him. His hair spiked up a little bit, his jawline, his eyes and the way they sparkle, and his smile all stood out to me even from just an angle. Seeing all this while peaking at him, still getting butterflies in my tummy (Although we've been together for about 7-8 months), really made me wonder how lucky am I? To have someone like him by my side. Was this all real or fake? I questioned in my head...Holding his hands and feeling the warmth of them really touched my heart and for sure made me realize that indeed, this was real and not a dream.

Gazing out while walking, Jackson noticed.

Jackson: Ori?..

I was silent but smiling...

J:....Baby???

....

J: Baby? Are you stuck into my handsomeness?

I finally snapped out.

Me: What?

J: Haha, you dork. Are you ok? Are you thinking about something?

Me: No, nothing.. I'm okay. It's just seems like I haven't seen you in forever.... School and everything has been a lot. I just miss your present.

J: Me too babe. It seems like it's been a long time.. but I'm glad we're finally together again! I've missed you so much!

Me: I've missed you too!

Jackson gently squeezed my hand as we continued down the path. The sun was setting and the cool breeze from the river swift onto shore making me shiver a bit.

J: Are you cold sweetie?

Me: I'm ok, that breeze was just a little much, haha

Jackson smiled.

J: You silly girl. I have a question actually...

Me: Yea?

J: I know the breeze just came in.. but I kind of feel a little warm...

Me: Oh why? Cause I'm always in your heart right? Lol

J: Hahah! Yes dork, but actually I was wondering if... well I remember that here there's an ice cream shop. :D Sooooooooo, my darling. How about some ice cream? :)

Me: Are you just saying that NOW because you wanted some?

J: Yeah Kind of. Hahha you already know me. :D

Me: Well then, since my baby wants it. Why not? :)

J: Great!!! Let's go!

Squeezing my hand, Jackson and I walked into the shop.

J: What would you like?

Me: Hmmmm Strawberry in a waffle cone!

J: YUM! Strawberry is my favorite... well one of them ahah.

Me: How about you?

J: Hmm I'm feeling cookie and cream :)

Me: that sounds good!

J: Oh & I'm treating! Because I love you.

I smiled.

We got our ice cream and we continued on our walks sharing the ice cream and joking with each other.

The sun was finally setting. Jackson and I sat down on one of the benches by the river looking out to the sunset. Jackson placed his arms around me and patted his shoulder - motioning me to place my head on his shoulder. I then lean my head onto his shoulder. Jackson then kissed me. My heart fluttered and I wished for nothing more then for this moment to just freeze.

A few moments later, Jackson pulled away and held my hands..

I looked up at him. He seemed as if he wanted to say something, but didn't know how to start...

Me: Baby?

Jackson was quiet, still holding onto my hand.

Me: What is it? Is something wrong?

J: Well.... I have another question...

Me: Yeah? *A little concerned*

J: Soo...I was wondering...

**My heart stopped beating for a second..**
