Chapter 2: Choice

"I—."

Fine I guess I will participate in this little project since I have nothing to lose.

"Excellent choice Vincent," Defoe commended Vincent on his choice.

'Fucking Defoe watch how I win and wipe that foolish stamp off my soul.

Tch!

No wonder you have that stupid face, it matches your black heart pretty well,'Vincent thought whilst displaying a solemn look on his face.

"You know I can hear your thoughts right," Defoe was exasperated whilst communicating with Vincent.

The otherworlders didn't give me much trouble except crying and other embarrassing stuff. It was pretty much a smooth process. But this guy just had to waste my time.

"All right off you go. Oh, wait. Let me restore your body to normal," Defoe said, proceeding to snap his fingers.

*Snap*

"I can't get used to this… Hold up, why aren't I in my human body? Why am I a stupid wall Gecko's body?

You son of a-,"Vincent didn't finish his sentence before he was sucked into a portal that appeared under him and transported him.

"Till we meet again mortal," Defoe said to the disappearing Vincent who didn't catch what he said.

After he disappeared a man with a suit and braises holding his trouser appeared and got on his knees. His yellow hair was long reaching his shoulders and tired neatly in a ponytail. His face unblemished, thin sharp eyebrows and small mouth with an oval nose. His eyes were blue.

"Godking preparations for the new project have been made. All we require is your signal before everything begins."

After saying his piece the man had his head bowed while waiting for God King D.

But in the place of Defoe wasn't a nasty-looking face but one worthy of a Godking. A man. No a God with golden loose hair in a yellow robe. His eyes were golden with yellow pupils with the occasional flash of lightning. His eyebrows were sharp and his long hair covered the right part of his eyes. His nose was as pointed as an arrow with thin lips. His previous bile was nowhere to be seen nor sunken eyes.

If Vincent were to be present he would have started swearing and talking about how unfair the world is. How Defoe has a lot of Rizz.

"Ok Lucius before we start this project you should make sure to give the humans in the modern world a new vision. The reincarnation wish wishes project has been scrapped.

If you die you no longer get wishes but you participate in an event to get perks. Spread the word to the prominent authors so they incorporate it into their new works."

"Yes, Godking your will is my command."

"Of you go then Lucius," Defoe sent Lucius off.

Even after Defoe told Lucius to go he stood there without moving an inch. As if thinking about something

"What is it, Lucius? My time is precious," Defoe said unhappily.

"Sir, if I may ask why didn't you erase the mortal after his mockery?"

"Tsk! That's why you are still not a Godking and inherited this position.

You still lack certain qualities. I won't answer this question. Go and think about the answer to your question and tell me your thoughts," Defoe said while disappointed at his son's lack of empathy.

"Father but...

What did you just call me boy?

What have I told you to call me during meetings", Defoe interrupted Lucius before he could continue his aura almost loose.

"Enough now go and spread the word to the authors," Defoe said, his tone carrying finality.

Lucius gritted his teeth while looking visibly upset, a second later Lucius left in a portal.

"Ha!! I want to relinquish my position and relax so much," D complained in a mock tone while resting on a cloud.

"Time to supervise this new project and see which of these souls have potential."

*Clap! Clap!*

Defoe disappeared after and reappeared in a plain field while supervising the souls that chose to participate in the new project. There was a black sun hanging in the sky with a blue moon right beside it. The strangest thing was that both the sun and the moon were shining at the same time.

"Isn't that the geezer who said if I participate in this project I would be able to get the chance to be a hero", #4573 hollered while forgetting to keep his voice down. His soul was grey with red dots.

"What ambitious dreams you have brother. You have my admiration," a boy as thin as a matchstick said in admiration.

"Well said brother, they say aim for the sun so in case you don't reach it you will at least get to the skies," another sagely said.

The soul flickering brightly as if motivated by the encouragement of his soon-to-be competitors.

"All right for this test, you can't perform it in your soul form. Let's see."

*Snap!! Snap!!*

Defoe snapped his fingers and immediately the souls were given a suitable body.

After receiving their bodies they looked to see the boy who had dreams of being a hero and what they saw left them stunned.

He sported messy black hair, his eyes a deep green. His stomach was chubby which was not in line with his goal at all. Weighing approximately 95 kg with his belly alone being almost 50 kg.

He became the object of ridicule after seeing his body.

"Tch with a form like that you want to be a hero. There's no grace befitting a hero."

"And here I thought I had found a rival. Yeah, why don't you try being a chef instead?"

"You want to be a hero, you oversized pig. Better dream of being a bandit rather. If I'm competing with the likes of you then the first place is as good as mine."

Before they could continue mocking him another person was feeling frustrated and he was about to make that known.

"Hey, why am I not in a suitable body too? You expect me to participate whilst in the body of a wall Gecko. Please release me from this form. His mouth was polite but his thought… not so much.

"Hey, look, that gecko is talking."

"Is it the final boss in the test or something."

"I think we should kill it and prevent any variable,"another added.

'Tch! Defoe you bastard because of you people are looking at me weirdly, No wonder you are that ugly, your face and your heart is very nasty.

"Young man, unfortunately, I can't do anything about that. It's a bit out of my scope of authority.

Hold up," Defoe in disguise said whilst putting his hand on his ears as if communicating with someone telepathically.

"You're in luck. I've been informed that you can participate in your human body for just this event. You'll lose it after this event."

"Thank you, Sir."

"All right, that's enough distraction, gather around everyone.

These 2 rules for this event.

Rule 1 anything goes, the second rule is to not forget the 1st rule.

The 1st event is for everyone to do push-ups, the one with the most reps wins. Is that clear?"

"YES!!"

"Hmm, so anything goes eh? But aren't push-ups a little easy, there must surely be a catch."

"Good sir, what is this thing you call a push-up? I believe such a filth is not popular if a man as magnificent as myself hasn't heard of such an unsavoury word in my lifetime."

"Is this guy from a different planet or something. And what is with that dumb accent? How is he not aware of something as common as a push-up?"Vincent asked himself as he eyed the boy with a buzz cut.
