Chapter 14: Optimal Mythical Skill
Hours after scrolling through the mythical skills section he finally found a skill he thought would take him far in his life.

'This is a bit underwhelming for a mythical skill. If the weapons were cut down to swords and spears for increased rarity I would be glad,' Vincent thought.
And as if waiting for him to say that, the description of the skill was updated including the rarity of the weapons.

'Oh but it seems like a duller version of Gates of Babylon. Doesn't it mean that this is like a store where I can get Excalibur or Gael Borg at a price? I'm getting excited just thinking about it. There's probably a catch because no one in their right mind would just give out Excalibur like that. That's too easy.' Vincent thought, doubting that a skill like that would come as a freebie. So he immediately turned to the most knowledgeable person he knew at this moment for an answer.
"Sir, Ahem* I was wondering what would I have to do to get something on the level of Excalibur,"Vincent asked apprehensively but failed to hide the excitement mixed in.
" It's simple really. You just have to pass a little test. For example, let's take Gae Bolg. All you have to do is dodge the spear and ownership is yours," Defoe said as matter of fact.
"Pretty easy don't you think".
Vincent was too horrified to take notice of the next sentence Defoe said. 'Dodge Gae Bolg nonsense. It's like telling me to outrun a nuke at the point of impact. Should I skip this skill and go back to take Killer Series,' as Vincent was having second thoughts on choosing the skill, Defoe decided to intervene.
" It's a pretty good skill in my opinion. You get an unlimited supply of weapons, mainly swords and spears, you just have to pass some tests here and there. And all those mythical babies will be yours and yours only," Defoe lured Vincent, tempting him like a devil in the night with sweet whispers, brushing off the difficult parts as if it's a walk in the park.
"Though you're shameless and biased you're right. It's either this or killer series and this is a no brain," Not missing the chance to take a jab he did it while imagining himself wielding Excalibur with a cool pose exuding chivalry and justice.
"For once I'll take your advice like a junior asking a senior for pointers and hopefully I won't regret my decision. Thank you for your help and those to come," Vincent while bowing with a straight back showing his sincerity.
"Brats are you finally warming up to me."
"You wish. I just appreciate your help since I couldn't force you. Also, you weren't obliged to help but still decided to help me when I asked, so I'm grateful that's all." Vincent said as he shifted his attention to the unique skills, deciding to use his two chances meaningfully.
'I'll look through on my own but even though time has been increased for me it's still mentally searching and reading the definition of skills. So I would like to use an expert's assistance for once.' Vincent thought unwilling to read, imprint and analyse the pros and cons of a skill.
"Defoe I could definitely use your help. Can you please recommend some unique skills that you think will help me in my next life.
" Brat, what do you take me for? Since I won't be seeing your annoying ass anymore I'll do this as a parting gift for you," Defoe said while waving his hand.
This gesture seemed to affect the hologram in front of Vincent since he got several skills listed in front of me.
'Let's see if this guy took it seriously or decided to recommend some half-assed skills. But I'll still look through the rest to see if there's any skill I missed out on.' Vincent thought as he looked through the description of the unique skills Defoe recommended to me.

'Wow, things are looking pretty good. A banger from the start, seems someone took this pretty seriously Noice,' Vincent thought as he was infatuated by just the first skill.
With renewed vigour, he continued looking through the remaining skills left.

[ Energizer : This skill reduces the presence of the user making it difficult for opponents to get a better read on the user. It allows the user to prey on the energy form of defeated foes. ]
'Shit just keeps getting better and better.' Vincent was getting excited at the same time depressed due to having choice overload. He had so many options but little to choose from. And this made him miserable. With a heavy sigh, he continued looking at the last 3 skills left from Defoe's selection.

[ Marginal Counter: A unique reflexive sensitivity that allows the user to change the point of attack within 0.005 seconds without a change in the power of the attack. ]
' Why? Why? I just had to get something even better than the other. This is so sad.' With imaginary tears running down his cheeks he continued his search with a more drooping shoulder.
Two more and I can escape this skill madness.

[ Energy Control : This skill allows the easier manipulation of various types of energy. ]
Simple and straight to the point. One last point then I make a decision.

[ Ink Summoning: Allows user to create soldiers to fight for them based on imagination, available ink and mana.]
'Fantastic. Just Fantastic. So this makes me what the ink monarch or something', Vincent said with mockery as he reached his breaking point.
All the skills were excellent and this was just a few excellent ones recommended by Defoe. If he were to go through the rest of the skills his blood pressure might just be over the roof.

After 2 hours of scouring through the available skills he had a few skills that met his needs and Defoe's skill made up 90% of it.
