Friends

I woke up a lot earlier than expected but I just couldn't fall back asleep so I decided to just make the bed and get up. I then walked into the bathroom and took care of my needs before taking a shower to wash away yesterday's sleep. After washing up I decided to wear a bath robe and simply sit with a cup of tea while looking at the rising sun until I had to start getting ready for work.

So yesterday, I had been told that the department mostly dressed casually instead of formally so I decided to wear something appropriate. I decided to wear a pair of light blue jeans, a black blouse and a pair of biker boots before letting my blond hair down. I then took my black bag and left the hotel room so I could go to work.

I got out of the building and decided to walk for a bit since getting a cab to work was taking too long. I soon found a cab and then made my way to work, I spent the rest of the day working on my remaining tasks which I completed before double checking everything to make sure I didn't miss anything. After confirming that the work was OK I sent it to my supervisor who was Mr Wilson so he could check it before it was added to the main code.

Mr Wilson approved of my code and it was on the main code before I returned to work on the next assignment.

"This is pretty good work Anastasia. Keep it up." Mr Wilson had encouraged me as I left his office.

I soon went to sit on my desk and found a new set of tasks for the next week even though it was Tuesday. How the company worked was at the beginning of the month everyone would get their tasks scheduled by weekly and they would receive them via Notion. I looked through the tasks I had for the next week and they were that I had to finish the design of a new system my part being to code the rest of the design in Wicket and Jsf since those two were some of my specialities.

"Hey Anastasia?" Samantha one of the girls who worked in the department called out from her cubicle which was opposite mine.

I looked up from my screen and looked towards the non existent door immediately facing her gentle looking innocent brown eyes.

"What's up Samantha?" I asked her with a smile.

"Oh, uhm me and the girls were wondering if you needed help with finding an apartment. We all live in the same building since it's perfect for us and close to the office and some malls." Samantha answered cheerfully.

I smiled brightly as I heard her say that.

"Yes definitely, I haven't started house hunting yet but I hoped to do so soon." I replied to her as I stood up to go to her cubicle.

"Awesome, we live 20 minutes from here if you walk and there is an apartment on Martha's floor that just got put up on the market. It's a pretty cool apartment and it's well secured." Samantha explained as she smiled towards me.

"Oh Sam, you've already told her about the apartment?" Priyanka the other girl in the department said as she walked towards the cubicle.

"Yeah I figured Martha might forget about it." Samantha laughed and Priyanka joined in.

"Anyway, do you want to go out for lunch?" Priyanka asked me as she sat down near her cubicle.

"Yeah sure, I'm really hungry and I need more information about this apartment. Do you guys have a gym nearby?" I replied to Priyanka.

"Yes, we have a gym. But why would you need the gym?" Priyanka asked as she looked towards me.

I just sighed as I answered.

"I need to strengthen my back because these fat bags are killing me." I replied which made both girls laugh.

"Oh girl I'm glad I don't have them as big as you do because my sister is just a bit smaller than yours but she complained about the back pains until she got them reduced." Samantha said while Priyanka laughed.

"I have thought about it but I just can't go through with it so I am going to have to go to the gym." I said to her.

We soon stood up and walked out of the office so we could go get lunch after getting Martha to come along. We sat inside a restaurant to order some food, the waiter came to get our order and he was smiling flirtatiously towards Martha.

"Good afternoon ladies. What will you ladies be having?" He asked.

The girls placed their orders and so did I which made the waiter leave the table to go get our orders ready. We started talking and laughing as I got to know the three girls more. Samantha was 27 and was from New York but had moved here with her boyfriend before she got this job.

She was an average looking girl who had a decent face but the most attractive thing about her was her character, she was always smiling and had a very positive attitude towards life. She lived in the apartment building that the girls were telling me about with her boyfriend and their cats. Her boyfriend worked in the department as well but I hadn't seen him yet or maybe I had and just didn't know it yet.

Priyanka was a 25 year old girl from India who had graduated from University in the USA and got a job at the company soon after. She was married with a two year old who currently was at home with her mother who had come to visit. She lived with her son Rajesh and her husband who worked as a real estate agent here in Los Angeles.

Martha was a 30 year old girl living with her fiance of seven months. She was from Los Angeles and had gotten the job at the company soon after she quit her last one for reasons she won't say. She also liked eating spicy food more than Priyanka it seems.

We ate our food before returning to the office and I had already told the girls I would go with them today to look at the apartment so Priyanka had contacted her husband who was the agent for the listing to let him know that someone was coming to look at the apartment. Apparently her husband got a 5% commission if I took the apartment which is why she was helping. The rest of the day went by in relative ease as I completed my first task on the second list of objectives and got half way through the second.

We then left the office and walked to the apartment so I could see it, the rental was $1 700 which was a steal for the location, the amenities and also the size of the apartment. It was a two bedroom apartment with a view of Los Angeles, a balcony and utilities were included. I told Pranav I would take the apartment and being someone from Los Angeles he had all the paperwork ready for me to sign.

I had an international bank so I was able to pay the deposit and the first month's rent before leaving to go to the hotel. The girls had promised to help me with shopping for furniture during the weekend and I would be able to move in on Friday if not Saturday after the paperwork was processed. I said goodbye to everyone and got into a cab before heading to the hotel, when I got to the hotel I took a shower after removing my makeup and brushing my teeth before getting into bed to get some shut eye.
