36 Chapter 33: Future Plans

Before ending the call, Ryan didn't forget to get the number of Alan (Marcus's friend), who owned a small-time firm for movie distribution in international markets.

Although he doubted he would ever use Alan, making more connections was always good.

He could take this as an opportunity to understand how a movie distribution firm worked. Maybe even have his distribution firm in the future.

Ryan couldn't help but get excited by his thoughts of owning a movie studio. That had its own movie distribution company.

If he could successfully implement this plan, maybe one day, the only person he has to distribute his box office with would be the movie theaters.

Not to mention, he always had a way out. That was buying into Netflix or creating his own streaming company.

Ryan decided to make this decision depending on how big Netflix was in this world. After all, the only real reason Netflix blew up in 2010 was breaking bad season four's release.

Ryan - "Get me an analytic report on Netflix."

(PS: Not even close to accurate figures. If I went accurate, I would never be able to afford Netflix)

Ryan - "Wow that's crazy so either in this universe streaming industry hasn't developed properly or Netflix is not a big deal. Let's check how Hulu is doing to understand which is the case."

Ryan - "Damn, Hulu is even worse off right now."

"Now comes the hard decision I can buy a part of Netflix or the whole of Hulu. If I go with Netflix, I get a higher subscriber base."

"Then again, Netflix and Reed Hasting implementing an ad-based module would be a major hassle while Hulu won't have such issues."

"I will try to buy out Hulu first, and if they don't want to be purchased. I will then head for Netflix."

"Plus, as Marcus said, I am practically a legend, so my name would add credibility to Netflix. So they should be willing to give up enough shares to satisfy me."

"Either way, it's a win-win. All I have to do is lie down as a strategic director."

"Where I would work to make strategies in name, but in reality just buy Netflix strategies and feed them into the company."

[Netflix and Hulu owner contact info being generated]

Ryan's phone suddenly started to ring again.

Ryan - "Hi, this is Ryan, may I know who I am speaking with?"

Mark - "Hi Ryan this is Mark Clarkson your editor."

Ryan - "Oh no wonder the number felt similar and I assume you got my number from my dad?"

Mark - "Yes."

Ryan - "Alright so what are you phoning about?"

Mark - "I wanted to ask if you would be available on December 26. It's a Saturday."

Ryan - "If it's a weekend then probably but why?"

Mark - "Alright then I will set that as the release date for your book."

Ryan - "Ah the book release date."

Mark - "Yes, now would you be free that day to do a local signing event?"

Ryan - "Yeah sure."

Mark - "Alright I will look into it and contact you with specific details later on."

Ryan - "Got it."

Mark –" Alright that's it then bye."

Ryan – " Bye have a good day."

Mark - "You too."

Ryan quickly texted and shared the good news with Alex. Who congratulated him by showing up at his house in person. Ryan then spend some time with her and returned to his desk.

Sitting there Ryan decided to make a list of the release dates to help keep track of everything. He quickly opened an excel sheet and started writing the dates down in order of their release. Here is how it looked in the end –

Release Dates For Works

Dec 26 - A Study In Scarlet (Book)

Jan 9 - Southland season (Show)

Jan 23 - Friday the 13th (Movie)

March - Haunting of the hill house (show)

May or June – Mission Impossible 1 (movie)

Seeing this list Ryan couldn't help but be impressed at his current lineup. The audience was sure in for a blast.

Counting the works again to make sure he didn't miss one. Ryan soon came to a tough decision to give himself a week's break and not sell Mr. Bean until he had finished writing both seasons down. He didn't wanna seem more conspicuous than he already was.

As for buying Netflix or Hulu he needed time, cause this wasn't a share that he could convince his father into allowing him to buy. This was a full-on company that he wanted to acquire.

Plus he would practically end up using almost all his money. Cause even Hulu alone would cost more than 3 million if he tried to head there to acquire it.

So Ryan decided to take it slow and slowly unravel his thoughts, plans, and future outlook on his dad. That way Nathan would have more time to digest everything Ryan was saying.

Ryan predicted it would take anywhere from three weeks to a month for him to convince Nathan. After all in this era although the internet is widespread its application in entertainment is uncharted territory.

Ryan continued to do his normal schedule except for there was a new time allocated to Alex in it. Plus they would chat in person or by text from time to time.

Time soon transformed into Usain bolt and broke the world record in running. Making days pass away quickly binging Ryan to you guessed it plot day.

Author Note: I would just like to address and remind everyone that this is a fictional world created for a fanfic. I am not a perfect/professional writer I write for fun. I don't get paid and write in my spare time cause I like my story.

You want to come here and say oh this is not good, cringe, you shouldn't do that or complain. I don't care cause I can't be bothered.

If it is a grammatical mistake I try my best to correct it. Plus suggestions are always welcomed cause they help enrich me and my story.

At times I do wonder if I should have kept to myself and never published this but then I say what's the point of wondering about things that can't be changed?

At this point, I write not for new readers but for a reader who will and wants to accompany me. If you don't then stop complaining and drop this book.
