9 The Serpents Hand

Its the day of spooking so why not realease another days of chapters early.

There were few things that went through my mind when I accepted the rewards first being the forwarding of the S.R.A. blueprints to R&D. The second being what MTF Unit I wanted to have. Originally I wanted to summon Tau-5 due to them being immortall soldiers able to fight reality defying demons. That was until I was informed I couldn't by the system because of balance or whatever.

Looking at everything I had I was severely understaffed for the size of site-19, but I also didn't have much in terms of SCP's to research so it balanced out. But with a Serpent's hand contact that I wanted to redeem sooner rather then later. I believed that it would be best to focus on defence in case of hostilitys. So I went for MTF-Epsillon 11 which being a unit used for internall security would be perfect. When redeemed I received a notification.

(Bonus:MTF Unit-Epsillon 11 designated Nine-Tailed Fox receives a 20% Boost toe performance when missions involve the users friendy Sites)

When summomed I noticed the symbol that was on their armour was no longer the SCP logo, but instead a circle with an ennegram overtop and 2 closed eyes. After situating the MTF unit in a defensive location that would allow them to pop up and defend me if things were to go wrong I redeemed the (Secure Contain Use) (Quest.)

Reality warped around me as I felt a connection to something beyond my reach. Before I had any time ponder further I felt something go through my connection. I instinctively knew I could send them back or block it. But I let them through imagining that it would be the contact.

A man formed infeont of me, and as he starred at me curiously and me aprehension he spoke.

"Why do you have a direct Way into the Library?" The robed figure asked mostly figuratively.

"Why would you need to know that?" I replied trying to draw him into giving information.

"In all the history of the library no one has managed to create a Way and bind it to a living person. What are you." The man asked with a scrupilous gaze.

"I am a person." I simply replied

"You will come with me the others wish to know of you." He authoritively spoke with a matter of factly tone.

"And why would I go with you when you could take me and try to experiment to create this connection yourself?" I questioned him.

"The librarys rules prevent those from causing violence to others. And the Serpent wishes to know why the library connected itself to you." He semi absently preached as he explained.

"Very well." I had agreed while signaling behind my back to not do anything to EP-11. I wasn't worried as at the first sign of danger I could use the connection I had to bring myself back. While blocking those chasing me through the connection I shared with the library.

The Serpent's hand member gestired for me to go through the Way I possesed and I did. Going through the Way felt like I was being compressed as I was shoved through a straw. Very uncomfortable but it ended before I could complain. When we arrived I was greeted by an insectoid creature with 6 arms and orange gelatenous facets. They presented to me a card that was green and lined with golden trim. There was a picture of myself infront of a bookshelf and in souroundings I didn't recognize. On it also in Golden letters was

"True Name:Murrey Bright"

and

"Watchword:I Can't Have Fun In My World If You Destroy It."

On the bottom of the card read "PATRON OF THE WANDERERS' LIBRARY" also in golden letters as was text on the rightmost that was written verticle from bottom to top. It read "ISUUED BY ARCHIVEST METZEN." And on the top right of the card is what I can only assume to be the logo of the Wanderers Library.

After inspecting the card of which I noticed my last name wasn't Drake the librarian began reciting the librarys rules.

1.Do not take what is not yours.

2.Keep your library card safe, but don't fret the Library will always recognize you without it.

3.Familiarize yourself with the ways, though you have already done more than most.

4.Limit your possesions, but I don't see you having that problem.

5.Stay clear of named places, as even on favoured by the Library cannot find themselves favoured by others.

6.Avoid library staff is what I would say if you weren't given the Librarys endorcement.

7.Know your enemy

8.Survive

After giving me these instructions the Insectoid procured me a panflet from… somwhere? On it said

WATCH OUT!

————————————————————

The WATCHWORD put on your library card is your pass to the rest of the library! Be watchfull of who you give it to - losing both your True Name and your Watchword can result in malicious wanderers impersonating you to the librarians…

OR WORSE!

After having all that dumped on me the Serpent's hand member materialized beside me. They looked at the librarian and then walked towards what I could only assume to be their base. While walking they said "you have a connection most of us strive for. We serve the Serpent and protect the library. Yet the Library favours you one who hasn't stepped inside its bounds, and most likely wouldn't have. For what reason it decided to connect with you I don't know."

After that we walked in silence as I looked around I noticed that the library looked aexactly like a library I'd see from the 2000s. Not the ones that I would see from the late 80s. The subpar computers and even the bookshelves looked from a library I frequented as a kid in my past life.

While walking some of the books titles intrigued me. There were sections based of time and relevency, one rather obscure subject on biomimicry and how to make a realistic human, as well as a book detailing the rise and subsequent fall of an advanced civilization from the early 1500s.

Noting the books down in a mental map of sorts I was drawn out of my musings when I came face to face with not a fortress. But a bunch of people hanging out reading books at a table. Now I was expecting a lot of things but a book club was not one of them. After a second everyone at the various tables looked in hour direction. With the members being more attentive when my escort spoke.

"I have brought the one connected through the Way." Gasps were drawn from this information. "I have brought them here so that the Serpent may come and question them, and also to introduce this Way walker to our Cell." Murmers were had at this information. With a minority disagreeing with bringing me here, and others calling me chosen by the library.

With my guide done talking he brought me to a table and said. "Read, and do not worry time works differently here you may rest and wait for the Serpent to come." He said anticipating my concern with responsibility.

"What exactly is the Serpent?" I asked.

"They are the Custodian of the Library. They care and protect it from those who may do it harm. They are one of the main reason the Library stands." He calmly explained

"Indeed I am." A booming voice spoke.
