1 Ch1 - Charles The Nomad

Sat in the lowly lit room of a hostel in Germany sits a man sitting hunched over in his bottom bunk. Lit only by his alibaba book reader light, few features like his sun-kissed skin, a small smattering of freckles and his Scrooge inspired pyjama hat can be made out.

It can be seen that he's writes furiously into this book before every so often looking away as if to recall something. Under his breath he mumbles, "Oh yeah then I met that nice lady who gave me good hiking tips", he seems to be writing a journal of sorts. On the front cover of the book, a white sticker with the words "A nomads travels in a modern world" can be seen scribbled onto it.

This is Charles, a young man who, conveniently for him, won a rollover lottery in the UK a few years ago. After ensuring his loved ones were in suitable living conditions, he set off to travel the world and write his auto biography, despite him knowing it probably won't get published. Just now he has finished his day in Germany, that he travelled to after hearing about all the great spots to see and hike, not to mention the bratwursts.

His sudden scribbling came to a halt before finally dating the page to '22nd April 2027'. Placing his book in the bag he chained to the side of his bed, he layed down and got some rest.

The following morning Charles' agenda wanted him to travel to the 'Jasmund National park' a perfect cliffside finisher to his beautiful excursions around Europe as a whole. Waking up at 8am he got his excessively large bag and ordered a taxi for himself, he could be seen to be getting excited over the idea of sitting atop Königsstuhl.

A quiet drive over to the north-east leads to Charles marching up the hill, unacompannied but still seeing friendly hikers passing by him on their way down. Stopping for lunch on a park bench, he sketched down a panoramic view of the chalk cliffs and updated his journal.

Soon he neared the cliff edge, the sea breeze brought crisp air and the smell of salt. Something Charles did not account for is that it also took something as well, which just so happed to be the ledge he was standing on at the time. "Shit"

Feeling the ledge slowly beneath him, he panicked leaving him frozen in fear, thinking that he would somehow be in more danger if he moved. His anxiety remained stubborn and his legs never moved, this is where Charles was last seen alive by the tour group passing by at the time. They also were quick to see where he died, which was at the shore as a pile of human viscera and ruined camp supplies.

(On another plane of existence)

(1st person)

I was still falling, falling for a lot longer than I should've since I doubt the cliffs were that big. I open my eyes, before me I see white clowds shifting slowly below me, atop it lay a shuffling queue of people in between cool golden railings.

I felt my momentum pick up, the queue grew closer and close until…

I fell through.

A quick 'poof' and I the clouds grasp at me trying to hold me up, and now off balance I fall past the radiant lights of heaven or nirvana or whatever could've been, to a deep red pit lit by great red fires. A great cavernous hole rimmed with ladders going deeper awaits me, I catch glipses of the denizens being subjected to torture beyond what I could think, shutting my eyes I tried to ignore the harrowing screams if the damned.

I quickly fell past this layer to subsequently fall through a macabre mix of demonic hellscapes, what lied for me came at the end of this torture, a blank emoty void. I pass by tartarus, not even sparing it a glance as I fall deep into the abyss. There's no end in sight, just a vast blackness littered by a few multi-spectral stars in the far distance.

Time passes, I grew used to my odd new environment, I'm not hungry, tired or exhausted. Yet I still dream of a time when the only worry I had was if my bag was stolen throughout the night. By some fortune I pass by one of the stars, I could make out voices from within, "It has to be you! Not me, not Hermione, you!" Was that Ronald fucking Weasley? In fact was that the Harry Potter universe? I could think no more on it before I heard "Hey you you're finally awake…" Skyrim…. Is this the space between universes?

I could only confirm this when I smashed into one floating in my path, the technicolour pane smashed as I flew through a new blank space occupied by an angelic being and what seems to be another human. "Spin this wheel to gain your system to assist you in your new…" I slammed into the wheel from the side surprising both of them "Sorry!" I shout to them as I fly past.

(In the aforementioned black room)

"WHO THE FUCK WAS THAT?! Why did he get in the way of me and my anime harem!" The man screamed at the angel, obviously blaming her for something out of her control.

"I- I don't know, this is the afterlife, people can't just… fall past here. Is that a new thing?…Is Aziraphel pranking me?" The last bit was mumbled under her breath as she sees the wheel was actually spun, landing on 'The scholarly system'. "Oh looks like he spun it for you! Good news then! DOOM needed a new chosen!" She clicked her fingers and sent the rampaging incel out of her domain.

(Back in the space between spaces)

My thoughts came to an end as I saw a new star in my path, I smiled nervously, my momentum has slowed down enough that I know I'll actually stay in this one. Finally, I fell through the technicolour barrier, feeling it shatter behind me and witnessing it repair itself as I spun wildly in the air.

Great purple lands stretched out below me, littered with ever changing fauna and residents with far too many eyes to be considered humanoid. Great beings in the far distance watched me with curiosity, gazing upon them, I felt something in side of me snap, these are creatures no one should see, they're nothing but the warped horrors of space-time. Perverts of the truth, aberrations.

I break past a new thinner barrier now and fly through a dense yellow mist, slower now yet still at worrying speeds. I see great crystal balls in the distance housing luscious greens and city greys each, yet I had no choice in my destination and neared towards a random one. Finally, this unique torment will be over and I can finally rest!

Security at my fingertips as I touch the sphere only for my vision to go completely blank.
