chapter 6

Following a regretful occurrence, we found it necessary to conceal our whereabouts, alter our personal information, and unfortunately, my father became untraceable. Eventually, my sibling and I relocated to a secluded residence, but regrettably, Sis was infrequently in attendance.

I lived in a large house alone with Sis and since the house was empty the sound of Air conditioning echoed through the walls, Initially the constant sound of the air conditioner in the vast expanse of my solitary abode was rather nerving. However, with time, it gradually became a familiar and comforting background noise, serving as a constant reminder of my solitude.

This happened on a Tuesday when my sis just left the house for work. I went upstairs and jumped straight into bed and turned on the tv in my room. I didn't spend that much time downstairs because every time I was down there I would have this creepy feeling of being watched.

After a while, I laid back and rested my eyes. After a moment through the tv playing, I heard that familiar sound. I didn't open my eyes and continued to rest. An hour later somehow not able to sleep I got up getting hungry for dinner. I opened the bedroom door and almost on cue, that same sound came again. I'd never recalled the Ac making that sound once or twice a day, especially without touching the thermostat. I walked down the hallway to where the upstairs thermostat was. it was off which means that it had been off all day. I wasn't fully scared yet though my initial reaction was to figure out why the air conditioner was running while I had it off. I was just really upset that this inconvenience had to happen tonight.

I went downstairs into the kitchen. The only thing I had was leftover rice from yesterday so I set the oven and heated it. I stood in the kitchen waiting for the rice to be heated. Again this time it was much louder and it even felt like it shook the house. This was the moment I began to get scared. I hadn't convinced myself that this wasn't just the AC acting up but other possibilities began to creep in my mind. once the rice was done I ate quickly then figured it best to go into the basement and check the Ac unit. I didn't want to be creeped out the whole night I just wanted to know what it was and get it over with.

I opened the basement door and flicked on the light. There was nothing special to this basement and it was unfinished and had some furniture with old boxes. I walked over to the AC unit I wasn't sure what to look for so I was just kind of looking around for anything obviously wrong and while I didn't find anything I did notice that it was completely off nothing was running. It had to be something else that was not giving me the piece of mind I was looking for. I started walking back to the stairs planning on checking some other rooms on the first floor but just as I started walking I saw a figure right under the stairs the lights were dim but his eyes gave away his position. I couldn't move it was as if I had been paralyzed. A breeze of cold air hit my face.

"Su (short for su-jin)where are ya I brought cake come quick if you want some!"

I regained my mobility after what felt like an eternity, and I didn't catch sight of the figure vanishing.

"Hey, where did you go" Sis shouted again with a worried voice.

"I'm here don't worry luckily I'm not dead!" I shouted back, running up the stairs at full speed.

"Where did you go?" she asked as she placed the cake on the table.

"Oh I was in the basement I went to the AC unit to check it, it had been making weird noises" I chuckled leaning on the table. For now, I have to pretend that nothing happened or she will be worried about me again.

"Oh was it? is it fixed now?

"Yep it's fixed" ya it's toootally fixed

"You want some cake I got it, especially for you"

"Yes pass me some then let's quickly go to sleep"

After finishing eating, we made our way upstairs but I still had this eerie feeling of being watched it felt like something was right behind me breathing on my neck. The only thing I could is the thing speaking in my head came to reality to properly haunt me.

For several days, I received messages from an unknown number that only contained people's names. Despite my initial reluctance, I continued to ignore them. However, things escalated quickly when I received a threatening message that warned of a "huge coincidence" if I didn't respond. Fearing for my safety, I finally replied "I'm not trying to ignore you but what am I meant to do with just people's names" I didn't receive a message from the unknown number for a week after that. until they replied with "Kill them I want you to find these people and kill them If you don't you will lose something important to you."

"Wait wait. Kill them? how am I meant to do that? and why would I kill innocent people in the first place? I thought to myself after that I blocked the number but what happened next was the most painful.

My sister had died in a horrible accident and at that time I was only 17 and no one was willing to take care of me so I had to survive by myself even Giselle's parents didn't let her take of me just because I was dangerous.

I was still getting texts from the unknown number but this time they sent locations for the person they wanted dead and the person was willing to even reward me with money If I did what they told me and that's how it all started I murdered people for money and even this voice in my head wanted me to kill but the shadow's told me a different story but I just ignored them because I would now do anything to survive.

And so basically because of this many people in the area mysteriously disappeared or were found dead. and many people suspect that Su-jin is the one who is doing all this and this is why everyone is trying to get info on Su to expose him from the killing this explains the interview with the interviewer in the last chap.

If you were wondering this novel has a bad ending.
