CHAPTER TWO – THE FOREIGN ADVENTURER, RYAN WAYNE

'Okay? Did I miss something?'

He thought as he asked himself but since no one would hear his question as he only speaks it through his mind, he just brushes it away.

He once again looked at the black hooded woman that seems taking so long to choose a job and he continued to speak, even though that the woman would ignore him once again.

"I haven't introduced myself yet and it's rude of me to approach you without proper basic courtesy. My name is RYAN WAYNE and I haven't made friends with anyone around here. Is it okay for me to tag along with you, Lady?"

The man, introduced himself as Ryan as he speaks to the woman and the said woman looked once again at him and nodded to acknowledge the other person's presence.

After that, she went back once again to looked at the mission board for the third time and ignore him once again.

Ryan, now being acknowledged by the woman he didn't even know the name yet, looked happy even though the woman didn't pay attention to him.

But it seems that the woman accepts his company.

'She might be cold and quiet as she tends to ignore me from time to time but it looks like this is her personality. It makes me want to befriend her because she is different from any women that I met before'

Ryan thought as he looked as well at the mission board to looked around since the black hooded woman is still looking for a job that seems like would take forever.

He wants to help the woman to suggest something but he doesn't want to meddle in her decision in choosing so he only waited.

On the other hand, many adventurers inside the guild saw the whole scenario between the black hooded woman and Ryan as they started to whisper with one another once again.

'Who is that guy? He had some guts to approach that woman'

'I heard he introduced himself as Ryan Wayne and this is the first time that I saw him here'

'Maybe, a new adventurer?'

'Seems like he is a foreigner because I didn't remember seeing that kind of face here around the Empire'

'And not just that, he happens to approach HER'

'Yeah. Indeed. HER'

'Why are you guys speaking like that as if she is a bad person'

'We are not interpreting like that! What we mean is…that guy happen to approach that woman that seems to ignore him from the start but it looks like this guy is bold to approach and speak to her'

Ryan's ear twitched as he heard the whispers around the people inside the guild and to be honest, the reason why he approaches this woman is that he is curious as to what these people are gossiping about her.

'Well, I can tell by the looks at it. At first, I thought this woman is just your average adventurer but when I approach her closely, I felt an overwhelming aura that she is hiding and it seems that I misjudge her'

Ryan thought as he smacks his head mentally as he reflected his mindset about this woman.

"Rank status?"

Once again, Ryan was startled as the woman speaks again out of the blue and the said woman is still not looking at him when she speaks.

Ryan manages to catch up with her sentence (If that is what you called a sentence then), and he immediately answered back.

"Er…Only an E-rank adventurer and I specialized in swordsmanship"

Ryan said as he scratches his head because of embarrassment. He felt that being with this woman who is hiding her true aura makes him felt inferior to himself.

Not that he is not strong but he admits that he is still lacking when it came to swordsmanship.

He might look bright and naïve sometimes but he had a well-built body that is perfect for fighting in combat and swords.

He might look soft because of his warm personality but his strength can't be underestimated.

After Ryan said those words, the black hooded woman looked at him once again and she looked at Ryan from head to toe as she gave a nod in acknowledgment.

"Not bad. Good build. Accepted"

The black hooded woman said in a few words and Ryan looked at the woman with a questioning gaze as he listens at the woman's way of speaking.

He only concluded that the woman didn't like to speak that much.

'Wow! A cold and quiet person indeed. Sometimes I would think that she hates me because she didn't even look at me for that long and only speak for a few words. Does speaking that much would cost her money?'

Ryan thought it comically as he chuckled but stop himself as he cleared his throat to composed himself.

He saw that the black hooded woman is still looking at the mission leaflets around at the mission board and Ryan didn't know what would he feel right now.

'I don't know what the woman wants for a mission but it seems that she is looking at it seriously'

Ryan thought as he also looked at the leaflet that the woman is looking at right now and he frowns upon looking at the information that is posted.

"What do you think?"

For the third time or so, Ryan was startled when the woman speaks once again out of the blue, and for the first time since he arrived here, he couldn't help but to felt irritated because of this surprise conversation.

"What the?! Can you please give me a signal when you are about to speak?! I am about to have a heart attack because of that!"

Ryan exclaimed and when he realized his mistake, he covered his mouth and he looked around as he saw all of the adventurers inside the guild looked at them.

He had a puzzled look when he saw that most of the adventurers are looking at him and Ryan could tell that there is a sense of fear or something in the way they looked at him.

'O-okay? What is happening? Why do they have the face as if they saw someone would die today?'

Ryan thought and before his mind could think any further, he heard a chuckle coming from the black hooded woman beside him and he immediately snapped his thoughts as he looked at her.

Finally, for the first time since he started to talk with her (Or much better, taking the lead in the conversation since the woman ignored him the whole time) the woman faced him, front to front and Ryan could see the woman's whole appearance.

Even though the woman is wearing a veil that covers her lips, Ryan couldn't take off his eyes from the woman's unique crimson-lilac eyes.

Her eyes glinted a spark of lightning and it emits a cold aura that you would feel like frozen on the spot when you looked directly into her eyes.

'Oh my God! Even though only her eyes can be seen, I imagine an ethereal being descended upon in front of me! I don't know why but I think my cheeks are flustered because of her presence alone!'

Ryan thought as the woman finally faced him with crossed arms as the black hooded woman began to speak.

"The mission. What do you think?"
