Chapter 14

''I dreamed of myself, standing in the steps of the garden. I could make up some silhouettes, these were not of any color but transparent, like the invisible layer of flame of fire that can be sensed but cannot be described. I asked them one the same question 'What are you?' after telling them that I come in peace with them. They answered in the language I could understand it was our language and not another. She I certainly think they are intelligent as one of them told me on behalf of all that they are spirits called 'Jins'. I knew a little about them and then I asked them my second question 'What are you doing here?' to which they said, 'It is our home for centuries!' I knew that there were entities that roam earth for centuries, but I was terrified a little to come across ones like them. I dealt in supernatural, but I never came across with such an energy. They felt a little unsettling but some aspect of them was bright and pure that kept me standing there. People hoarded the negative energy to that house and never tried to tend to its need.

Then I continued with my third question which was obviously a wrong one. 'Why are you here?' I muttered and to which I received a surprisingly different answer. 'Where do you stay beside your home? We were the first ones here and we will be last ones too!' I sensed cold sensation down my spine. And then they also removed my concern that they come in peace too. Then and there I was shocked to what I came across. It was unlike any other sensation I ever had. I was sweating and rushed to my dresser to look through the notes, where my Na saved a record of such entities. I used to find it amusing as I didn't believe in them. But know that all that you do not believe in, doesn't need your approval to exist and that was the case here. The Jins, these are actually a creation like human beings, have families, but possess powers unlike human. They also have different faiths like us and have hunger that is satiated through scent of food.

Jins don't need to eat them. They share nature like us too: good, bad, and neutral. The aspect of power that is given to them makes them dangerous not only for themselves but for us too. They need to follow natural principles and are bound not to reveal at all. Unless allowed to reveal their existence. Here, in the present Scarlet Garden, there was something that was not right and enforced them to reveal their existence to chase people away. I was too afraid to stay there alone but Andrew used to visit the garden and one day he brought lots of flowers there. He dragged me there and I had to help him out by digging pits for all the floral plants he brought there. It was Rose, Lily, Lavender and Sunflowers. The time passed and the disturbing noises were still there. Once Andrew was extremely upset about them and he traced them to where they came from. He ended up in the garden, only to find himself surrounded by echoing intolerably high noises of a crowd of people speaking in some understandable language. He could not bear them, his head started spinning with pain and he fainted over there. I rushed him in and locked all the windows in the house. It helped a lot; the noises lowered a little and we could gladly sleep. But it was not the permanent solution.

I was too afraid to ask these entities any other question and it was our third month there in the house. The children at night and during the mid-day were not allowed near the garden. And I came up with a plan to enclose the garden for people not to get disturbed by it. Then something happened a little something that guided me understand what could set the noises off for good. Andrew's planted flowers grew fairly quick, and all bore flowers. On the next day Andrew called me to a sight where all the plant turned into ashes, except one of them. A white rose plant and it was about to grow a little flower. Andrew loved white roses, but the white rose plant bore a red rose. Andrew though we were tricked and given red roses instead of white.

He was quite petrified and disturbed to watch the rest turned to ashes, he reckoned that it could be dark magic. But it was not I told him. so, I took my darling inside and told him about what we are living with as much as I knew that. That night we slept well and there were no noises at all. They desired their home to be planted with roses, and why was that I needed that explanation. It was clear that it was their doing burning what they dislike to ashes, and I understood that as they were made of fire, they could do that. So, it was quite clear that they desired roses and of red color only. I confirmed that by planting roses of different kinds and they all bore red roses instead of what type they actually were.'

Rosalie was a little uncomfortable now to read the diary after the revelation that the Scarlet Garden had joins in them. She dared not to visit the garden at night or at 3 in the morning, it would be a death wish now. She was taking good care of rose plants. She organized the other plants in according to her granny's diary instruction and what she taught her earlier. She was glad that her granny was not like her mother. She was kind but she was not open and true to Rosalie when it came to his father and that is what her granny knew as well. She was old but not that old to comprehend what her daughter's doing.

'Your mother and uncle did not let the Gipsy blood that ran into their veins dominate their lives. They led a simple life, although your uncle believed in the spiritual aspect of life, but your mother just altogether was a non-believer. But we must always keep that in mind 'Whether one believes it or not, what must exist won't cease to exist!' I was glad that Andrew was open-minded although life in the Keswick was not easy. People didn't welcome outsiders like me and the ones who allowed that mixing. Andrew was my light, and I didn't need them. Or their approval to continue living an easy life. Although most of them came for the fortune-telling and purification charms, it shocked me to how brazenly they mocked me, even after they visit me for these sorts of things.

I knew people were hypocrites, but to this extent made me sick. I fell ill one spring, but your grandpa took care of me and the garden both. He even hired a young maid for me when he had to visit for work. I felt better but doctors told me that it was some kind of seasonal sickness that kept me in bed for months. I was afraid of the later end of the year because naturally it led to that sickness. I was so hopeless as I thought I may die without seeing my daughter being married. You mother was a young lady by that time now and the maid was nearly her age too, I kept her with us as that poor girl had no family. She was our family too and a kind friend to my daughter. I loved that about her she was so humble and grateful that she never actually questioned or asked for more. But I felt like she must be treated better. She used to attend me and my needs during these extremely rough time in bed. She read me books and told me all about what they did during their visit around town. She also learned a little about charms from me, unlike your mother. And I hope she wear that tiny ruby in her necklace even now'

She didn't know that ruby was gift from her granny to her. She often saw that as it attracted her. 'I really do not know my dear grandchild whether your mother will allow you to ever have this diary or not but believe me love, your mother is trying to protect you through a lie that your father loved you. Know that when your father set his foot in the house for the first time, I knew that he was not the right man. But your mother did what she decided, and I had to do what I could. I blessed the house with a charm, but the man was pure evil. I know you remember the evening in your childhood where you overheard your mother confessing to a guilt that made her feel responsible for your father's death.
