Savior! Redemption in Another World!

Vincent DeCourville was not a stupid man, supposedly. He was a young college student, who through a mix of luck and more luck was able land a full ride scholarship. That was about a year ago, the height of his life. Present day, we find Vincent DeCourville plummeting off the side of his college dorms, a note and shoes left on the edge. However, for the first time in his life, Vincent defies his cowardly nature and declares, in his final moments, "I want to live, I'm too good to die here!" Unfortunately, gravity does not bend to the wills of man, and Vincent Decourville was no more. Until one man came to him upon his death, offering a hand. "So even the cowardly can be prideful in death. Perfect." And so, Vincent Decourville died but was given one more chance. One final chance to redeem his cowardly life, in another world! ----

Showdown

As the two of us steel ourselves, the seconds of silence and stillness felt akin to hours.

"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you." He snickers slightly, cracking his neck.

"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to die," I reply, my mouth spewing the line before I'm able to suppress it.

Begin.

In a flash, it happened. The masked man dashed towards me almost faster than my eyes could follow, he was taking the shortest possible route, a straight line.

"Stone Wall!" I yell, raising my staff. If he thinks I need to chant like other casters, I can catch him off guard.

Regardless of his next move, I have mine. Placing my hands in the direction of the wall, I begin to chant.

"What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine. Release unto me all that rightfully belongs to me. Despot's Grasp." I chat, waiting until the masked stranger appears.
