CHRISTA ASK TO GO AND VISIT THE BABY

Reaching the airport Errol said, "Dad seeing that Laura doesn't have school for the next two semesters. I am sending her with you so she can help take care of Christa and baby Thomas."

"Thank you, my son, I know you will handle everything." Blessing Laura for going with him because he wasn't feeling happy traveling alone. Turning to Errol, Antonio call out, "Errol, did you have sufficient money for the tickets?"

"Yes, dad, and dad I have bought a small gold band for the baby. And it is in your bag pocket and it also has something for Christa."

Antonio could not stop the tears. "Bless you, my son, I was so worried I was going empty-handed."

For two weeks Christa was very weak and wasn't able to travel nor did she go to see the baby. With the baby in the incubator at the hospital and was unable to move around.

Thomas was busy doing the visits from the hospital every day. His parents stayed at night in the hospital, while Thomas stay during the day.

Wednesday the fifth of March after two in the afternoon, Christa said to her mother-in-law, "Will you call Thomas to take me to see the baby today?"

Taking her time as she took her shower and dress so when Thomas reaches he won't have to wait on her. Christa knew her stitches has not completely healed but she did not want to take any chances.

Taking Mrs. Marva with us, she sits in the front seat while Thomas helps me to lie down in the back seat.

A few times while he was driving, Thomas heard her make a funny sound, but she said nothing. Each time, I slow down the speed, thinking the jerking of the van rides was causing her discomfort.

At the hospital, Christa took some deep breaths then slowly walks by his side.

Holding her close to his side seeing the way people were rushing by after they bounce her twice and she almost fell.

In the elevator, she clings on to my jersey, thinking, 'There's still so much I need to learn about her. Almost nine months we are married and only once we almost reached dinner with Bill and Jill.

He was so angry when he called but when he heard that Christ had the baby he simmer down and became concerned about her health knowing she was due for the half of March.

A few times I took her to the pre-natal clinic, but she prefers for Dad to take her. This, last month before the baby comes. Unable to explain what had happened during her pregnancy. That she constantly made excuses and held back information's from me.

At times during the night, I would find her praying and crying, and when I asked all she would say is "She cannot sleep."

Although she told me we had to shop for the baby items when she goes to the clinic with dad she send him home. And she would go and do her small shopping that she could manage, then take a taxi home.

A few times dad would state his concerns but she never cares what anyone says, she stays by herself.

Mom on the other hand had her busy when she complained of the stairs and not being able to do her exercise. So she stays with her as she does her walking in the corridor.

She had not complained about them but I know she still doesn't trust them. But dad shows her love just as Mrs. Marva, and always takes something for her to eat.

The only person who ever gets close to her is Mrs. Marva, and she still doesn't know much either.'

Stepping out of the elevator she stood aside for the others to pass then she looks at both sides.

"Honey, the nursery is this way." Seeing she hesitates, "There's no need to be afraid?"

Entering the nursery, Thomas thought, 'Oh my God, I am so glad they had taken out all those tubes that were hooked onto him. I wonder why she is afraid of hospitals?'

Seeing she turn aside when a trolley was being pushed towards the elevator, 'Did she have a bad experience at a hospital on some previous occasion?'

Thomas held her shoulder whispering to her softly. "Aye, you are going to see how big he has grown. I hope you know the both of you will be seeing each other for the first time?"

Thomas notices how she drags her feet as though ready to run away any minute. Gently stroking her arm as his hold tightened on to her, in case she got scared and change her mind.

Wondering to himself, 'Any mother would rush to see their newborn child. So why is she so hesitant and obstinate?'

Inside the nursery nearing the crib, when the Nurses saw me they just wave. As I led her towards the crib. Observing as she looks around at the other babies, then stops

"Honey, our son is over there," but she was crying. "Don't be afraid?" Trying to imagine if she had seen him at first what would be her reaction. I had so much fear in my heart at that time thinking I will lose him.

Shocked when she whispered, "I am not knowledgeable of him being conceived:" Recalling that evening what she spurred out, as the memory flashed through his mind.

'Could she be thinking that he was not conceived in love?' Hugging her close to his chest, gently stroking her.

'How do I explain to her that our son is not a mistake. "Sweetheart, I wish you could remember that night he was conceived.

You might think that he was conceived without love, but you are wrong. Honey that night you made me promise you, that I will marry you.

Why did you think I bought you all those clothes. I didn't know how it was going to happen. My fear was you might reject me, and I wouldn't be able to fulfill my promise to you."
