Part 32: Date

"Can you hurry up?" I yelled out to Harvey who was searching for his car keys. "I'll have a new keyholder installed for you." I joked. he always loses his keys and has tons of duplicates in a box. He's a great assassin but a bad keyholder.

"Sorry. It was just in my pocket the whole time." He laughed. "Let's go hiking!"

We loaded our things to the car and we were now on our way to Ponko mountain.

As Harvey drives, Pan!c at the disco songs started playing and the both of us sang along to 9 in the afternoon and The Ballad of Mona Lisa.

We got to the base of Ponko mountain and parked the car in a shady area. We got our stuff and started to go up the trail.

As we went up, Harvey kept singing more songs and I sang along with him.

We were almost at the top when Harvey stopped walking.

I bumped into him. "Harvey, what's up?" I poked his shoulder.

"Well heck. It's Cindy." Harvey shook his head.

I just started walking and dragged Harvey along. "So what?"

Harvey laughed nervously. "I kinda told her I'd be busy with my job today."

I smirked. "True. Your job is to take me out on a date which you are currently doing."

Harvey chuckled. "Well, I can't argue with that."

We headed to the top where it was filled with flowery decorations, butterflies, swings, and a small shop where they sell fresh fruits smoothies from the mountain's gardens.

Harvey bought two pineapple orange smoothies and we sat quietly on a couple's swing under the cool shade of an old tree.

We were having a peaceful time when I noticed Cindy and her friends coming our way. I choked on my drink when I noticed her two friends to be familiar.

Harvey patted my back. "Is there something wrong, hon?"

"It's Cindy and she's with Ruby and Sierra. Tough luck." I said as I drank my smoothie again, leaning back on the couple chair swing.

"Don't worry, Caroline. I'm here-"

"Oh hi, Harvey!" I leave my eyes closed for a moment and breathed in and out for a moment.

"Caroline! I didn't know you could have a boyfriend." Sierra exclaimed with fake excitement.

I heard a scoff. "Maybe they're just cousins." Of course, it's Ruby. "No offense but I'd never imagine Caroline being with a handsome guy like him."

I opened my eyes with irritation but stopped myself. She's just low-key insulting me while trying to flirt with Harvey.

I looked at Ruby with all the confidence that I have left in me and said. "Well, better believe it, Ruby. He's my boyfriend."

I felt Harvey's hand gently pat my back to keep me calm.

"Is she just saying that?" Ruby said. "You can't be her boyfriend."

Harvey nodded. "You're right. I'm not her boyfriend."

I froze as I feel like a cold bucket of water being poured on me.

Harvey pulled me closer. "She's my fiance." He happily announced.

The three girls stand in shock but then Cindy looked at me in rage. "Well, fact check, Caroline. I invited him on a date just a few days ago because he said he was still single. He never mentioned you at all!" She half-yelled.

Ruby was having a smug face and Sierra looked dumbfounded.

"I can explain that. I never said that I was single and I mentioned to you that I was in love with someone else. I didn't reply to your invitation on going out on a date with you because you're a terrible person." Harvey said. "Me and Caroline are going out of the country and I'm gonna marry her." Harvey looked at me with a smile and a secret wink.

It mans I should play along.

"Yes." I started. "Turns out, we're moving to a country where I could marry while finishing my studies and jubble a couple of jobs. It's even more eco-friendly over there since they banned plastics in the country." I lowkey pointed them out.

Ruby clenched her jaw. "I'm surprised your parents are so supportive about this."

Harvey laughed. "Yes. I'm surprised as you are. I'm also moving her family with us so that they'll have a better life."

Sierra looked at Harvey with a confused look. "Are you like, a son of a billionaire."

Harvey patted my head and looked at three of them with great confidence. "Actually, I'm a zillionare."

Wait what?

I didn't ever thought Harvey would be this rich.

I mean, he's living with me, I cook him homemade food, likes to collect and use a lot of coupons and loves sales and flea markets.

Ruby looked unreadable while Cindy and Sierra had a sudden change of heart.

Ruby crossed her arms. "Well, what a shame. You two are gonna be an issue of the town when you marry and have children early."

I could feel irritation finally emitting from Harvey. When he starts to get fed up, he'd promise the most absurd things but then make it come true to shove it in the person's face.

Harvey chuckled. "I have money. Even if I'd have a hundred children with Caroline, they'll all have super comfortable lives without denting my riches since I earn centillions each day."

I screamed internally. He can't be serious.
