Part 12: Ignite

"oh...ok" is what I just said. Can you blame me?!

He just waved his hand and went away.

"He'll be sleeping...in the afternoon."

I smiled bitterly. "I only have two hours or none."

I clenched my fists tight as I walked back in the house. I'm working my butt off with these projects while people like them do nothing to help. NOTHING! They don't even check on me to see how I was doing. They don't check if the project is almost finished or not nor offered a hand to help.

I assigned parts to them, gave them deadlines, checked on them, updated them on all my actions...but why am I the only one working?!

I need to go to the beach.

I look at Bruno who was playing with a tennis ball and felt my eyes sting a little.

I took Bruno's harness and put it on him.

We walked to the beach together and it was still seven in the morning. I tied Bruno's leash to a nearby tree and went in the water. It was cold. Maybe cold enough to cool my hot head.

I just swam and chill as I float on the water.

Then I remember. The ring.

I held it up and stared at it. It looks better every time I look at it.

I notice at the corner of my eye, a group of guys drinking and smoking not so far from me. They were at the shore, some swimming in the water.

After thirty minutes, I managed to calm down and untie Bruno's leash from the tree.

"How bout another bottle?" I hear a guy ask, then some voices agreed but I can't really make out what they were all saying. I'm just minding my own business when I one guy said in a loud, angry voice.

"Those rookies were lucky to win that ML match."

"Drink that sorrow away you sore loser." Another guy laughed.

One of the voices were familiar. Maybe...

I turned around and realized they were people I know. Aaron, Timothy, Alex, and Jasper.

I couldn't contain my frustration any longer.

I walked up to them, Bruno growling as he pulls me back. Sorry Bruno but I just want answers.

I walk up to them and Aaron immediately recognized me. "Caroline, gone for a swim?"

"Yeah. Oh, Jasper." I looked at him in fake shock. "I thought you were busy...is this what you meant?" I gave him a look and a stare that silently told him to go eat bull poop.

"Yeah, I am busy, Caroline. Just go finish the project and shoo away." Jasper said as he blew his cigarette smoke at me. It felt like it ignited something inside of me. Like a fire.

A FIRE OF RAGE!

I could sense Aaron keeping himself from saying anything which is a smart decision.

Bruno was nipping at my shoes and I knew it was a sign.

My thoughts were full of nothing but clouded rage but I am still trying to be 'civilized' and act like the wise person that I am.

"I'm telling your grandmother"

Aunt Jenny.

jasper stood up and held my collar up making me stand on my toes but I didn't change my expression.

I chose to stay strong...then my cheek started to sting.
