34 Concerns

Father Lechoń and father Robert said goodbye to bishop Wacław at the car. The parson bowed low to his superior and returned to the rectory as the car disappeared around the bend. He did not say a single word to Piotr. The young priest did not take this as an expression of condemnation or other disapproval. They simply had nothing to talk about at the moment.

Father Robert, the parson of this parish, was aware of his subordinate's awkward situation. He was even more aware of what such gossip could lead to. However, he was a decent man, and although he personally was wholeheartedly against homosexuality, he did nothing to make Piotr, whose cousin was gay, feel uncomfortable. Lechoń was not sure whether this stemmed from the parish priest's belief in the vicar's good conduct or from obedience to the bishop.
