35 Reflecting on Fate

As soon as I appeared back in the Senju compound I was met with Lady Mito and Tsunade.

" So they finally breached the village. Wait for a few minutes then go back to review the damage."

" Right.."

As these two were waiting and eating dango Tsunade was hanging back. Looking at Ren she really had to make sure he didn't blow half the family fortune on dango… that was her gambling money damn it!

Putting that aside, she had a lot of troubling thoughts running through her mind all day. Quite frankly she was disturbed that these two people had planned out the events of today. The fact Ren kept this from her also made her feel a bit hurt.

She knew things weren't exactly perfect between her and Ren. Even right now while she knew Ren was her husband she struggled to accept it.

In the world of nobles this arranged marriage was quite normal but to her it was still a strange situation. It's how her grandparents got together so it shouldn't be that strange to her. Not to mention she had been mentally prepared for such a day all her life, but her thoughts now that it actually happened were all over the place.

When she first knew of the arrangement had indeed became possessive of him but that was mostly due to the idea she had to be. Whether she believed in this arrangement or not she had to maintain her family's honor. It was her duty to accept her role as his wife.

Despite that even at her wedding she hadn't wholeheartedly accepted him. This was the reason unlike Rens vows, hers were not romantic. To her their relationship was honestly more of a familial then romantic nature. Additionally in another part of her mind she also assumed Ren would outgrow his childish love for her. These thoughts never allowed her to take him seriously in any romantic sense.

Unfortunately for her that notion which was upholding her sanity had wavered after their wedding. With Ren confiding in her his hidden abilities she realized maybe he would truly love her. Revealing his secret abilities was a level of trust rarely found in their world. The nature of their profession made such trust one of the rarest things to find. Even with out their profession factored in, what set of husband and wife don't have some secrets? She saw his moment of trust as a defining moment for their future. The idea this might really work for them started to form.

However the progress she had made internally flipped on its head after the events of today. A lot of information was thrown her way that made her feel like she didn't really have his complete trust.

Her grandmother knew the future and apparently knew their entire family would die. Well except for her and Ren. This wasn't exactly something she had time to process properly just yet. The scene in front of her wasn't helping either. The fact these two people leisurely eating dango had some secret agreement deciding the future of not only their family but the entire world was disturbing.

Now she understood why her grandmother was so dead set on having her marriage arranged to Ren. The fact that Ren was her destiny was such a strange thing to find out. Well it would be if she believed her grandmother. She wasn't completely convinced this was really the case. It was strangely convenient her future husband had such remarkable abilities. This also made her doubt her current relationship with Ren was appropriate.

To be frank the whole talk on destiny and fate she got was a little strange to her. For all the talk about being unable to change fate, her grandmother was clearly making changes to go against it. What she really got from her grandmothers talk was that she likely manipulated Ren. There were some strange points she needed to clear up as soon as possible.

" Grandma was Ren really fated to be my husband?"

" Yes. From what I could see in the timeline since that fateful first meeting your futures have always been intertwined."

" Sure….So what did you mean earlier when Ren figured out the way to save our family? Didn't you know of his abilities with the whole being able to see the future thing?"

" No I did not know of his abilities. He's very unique as far as our world is concerned. The only being whose future I cannot see clearly."

" Wait what? Didn't you just say you saw our futures are intertwined? How would you know that if you can't clearly see his future?"

" Everything I said was correct. I found him by reviewing your life. Not his. He's probably one of the few people who can change fate at their whim."

" So the person you arranged my marriage to just happens to be so incredible?"

" I just told you he's someone who can change fate. This is your fault for catching his eye. I merely expedited the process by a few years."

Tsunade could only remember the first day she met Ren. Did he really mean that cheesy crap he said when they met? If what her her grandma said was right then that one idiotic moment was seemingly enough to decide their fate. To think the moment he met her he decided she would be his wife and eventually makes his silly declaration come true.

She could only stare at Ren. How did he manage to pull it off before her grandmas interference?

" Wife remember your husband is the future God of Medicine!… or maybe Dango now. I'm having trouble committing these days….Anyways the point is a little silly thing like fate is nothing!"

" He may not be wrong. Your known as history's greatest medical-nin, maybe as your boy toy he'll get the title by association."

Both Tsunade and Ren look completely shocked. Complete pin drop silence.

" Did you…"

" …just make a joke."

" Don't be the worlds strangest lovers in front of me. Completing each others sentences is creepy."

With a flash Ren appeared hiding behind Tsunade. Tsunade turned around to hug him. They both had a blank look on their face.

" Ren you didn't change her for a clone did you?"

" Do you think I would do that wife?"

" ….I won't answer that."

" I'm not that strange you two. Stop making fun of me all the time. You should respect your dying elder."

Pin drop silence again.

" I should go back to the field and see if your gift came to an end grandma…bye!"

With a flash Ren disappeared.

" My husbands really a coward isn't he?"

" He runs away so quickly when things get serious… You need to be careful with him Tsunade, he's going to be a handful."

" Grandma was he truly meant to be my husband?"

" The age gap isn't that strange Tsunade. He can be charming when he tries. Don't pretend you're not aware.

Believe me I was thrown as well, but since you've met there's only been one constant in the timeline. You two being married."

" So is the God and Goddess of medicine really a thing?"

" You could say that."

[ I can't tell her the God and Goddess of Dango is more likely at the moment. You owe me son in law.]

" Why didn't he trust me earlier with all of this?"

" Threat of death."

Tsunade gave her a strange look.

" Don't be a hypocrite about trust Tsunade. I really wish my granddaughter trusted me with her husbands abilities."

" You really didn't know?"

" You were definitely his first."

Tsunade blushed. Did her grandmother just tease her?
