Chapter 9: The Rewards, Competition

When they heard what the final reward was they all gasp in shock.

" a skill book! "

The village chief really is generous about giving rewards.

Beast contractors can use skills that can assist them when it comes to taming or fighting, and a skill book contains directions, instructions, and training menu on how to learn the skill.

The skill book that the village chief is about to reward them is called "Bind", it is a skill where the user can use his or her's dominance to make a rope that can bind a savage beast or a person in its place, making it easy to tame or attack them.

The guards were holding the rewards and they passed it o the participants, when Kali received the rewards he inspected it, the beast ring has a bronze color and can be put on in his middle finger, he immediately wear it on his left middle finger, he has to put his dominance on it first to use it and put a dominance imprint on it, to make sure that only the owner of the beast ring can use it, when they wore the beast ring no one can take it off other than themselves, unless they allowed it or they died.

After putting his dominance imprint on the ring he use it and made black serpent beside him to enter the space on the beast ring, he then closed his eyes and used his dominance to look inside the ring and saw black snake moving around trying familiarize with the new surrounding, he smiled and retracted his dominance to inspect the other reward.

The beast crystal has the similar color to the one he got from the boar he fought inside the cave, but the one rewarded was much bigger than it, and  it contains more and purer energy.

After giving out the rewards the village chief announced the start of the banquet he prepared for the new beast Contractors.

They ate good food and the others were dancing and drinking, the banquet lasted until morning, Kali didn't stayed the whole night and went home after midnight, he summoned black serpent inside his house, because it didn't like the space inside the beast ring that much and it like being outside more,it scanned the surrounding before finding a spot where it coiled up and sleep Kali shook his head and proceeded to his room, he didn't meditate and just flop down the bed where he immediately fell asleep, because of the accumulated stress and exhaustion from the ceremony.

The next morning Kali woke up late because it has been a long time since he slept in his bed when he opened his eyes black serpent was beside him starjng at his face, he patted the its head and smiled he then wash up and went to the kitchen and prepare breakfast for him and black serpent he ate a simple meal and he gave black serpent the remaining beast ration that was not used during his stay in the crimson leaf forest, aftwr eating their breakfast he didn't train like he usually do instead he took his bag and took everything inside it, different things random things are lined up on the table in front of him, these random things are the resources and materials he gathered during his stay in the forest, the flame tusk boar's tusks, the beast crystal he gained from the flame tusk boar, the five resources he got from the cave, the skill book, and the other beast crystal.

He can't use the tusks for himself so he planned to seek it or trade it, then he pick up the small beast crystal and feed it to black serpent.

" here take this " Kali gave the crystal to black serpent and it immet swallowed it and went to his spot where he coiled up and sleep to absorb the energy from the crystal, he then picked up he other beast crystal to store it and use it in the future, he read the skill book and decided to study it more later, he stored the tusks for safekeeping, and he then picked up the five resources and went to the backyard, these resources are herbs can be fed to savage beast to improve their strength similar to what a strengthening pill can do but it's effect are much weaker, Kali replanted it to have unlimited supply of the herbs, with this he doesn't have to buy the expensive strengthening pill,although the effects are weaker with five different herbs black serpent will receive the same effect as a strengthening pill, after replanting the herb, Kali smiled with satisfaction, he entered his house and saw that black serpent is still absorbing the beast crystal, he proceeded to his room with the skill book in his hands, he sat down and opened the book to start learning the skills.

Hours passed after Kali opened his eyes, joy and excitement is visible from him, he learned the skill after hours of studying, instead of eagerly trying the skill out he decided to do it in the morning, he just closed his eyes again and proceeded to meditate.

Morning came and he and black serpent proceeded to his backyard to tryout the skill he just learned, with black serpent beside him he pointed with his two fingers and chanted an incantation then suddenly the head sized rock was wrapped in transparent rope that came from the ground there are five transparent rope on the stone, looking at the ropes Kali was satisfied with his new skill.

" with this skill, taming savage beasts will be much easier in the future "

While checking out his new skill he heard the sound of a bell for three times, summoning every villager, so he recalled black snake on his beast ring and went to the village square where the chief is already waiting, after seeing that everyone has come he proceeded to the center of the platform.

" I won't waste your time, I summoned you all here today to announce that one year from now we will have a Beast Contractors competition, where the newly promoted beast Contractors will fight one another to determine the strongest young beast contractor in our village "

The new beast Contractors are excited because they want to see how strong their savage beast against the others, they are eager to show off their strength.

" other than determining the strongest young beast Contractor in our village, the top 3 will also go to flame heart city to compete with the other young beast Contractors from different village and cities for the title of newcomer King!"

Passion burned in the eyes of the young beast Contractors, Kali clenched his fists after hearing the village chief's words.

" the newcomer King " Kali whispered.

" during these one year do your best to increase your strengths, that will be all, now go on your ways" said the village chief before turning around and leaving the village square, while walking towards his house, Kali was still thinking about the chief's announcement, it awakened Kali's competitive spirit.

When he reached his house he went to his backyard to tend to his herbs, and then he summoned black serpent and did his daily routine.
