Moving Day

You ever see those people who, with moving day, are up early, and everything seems to happen in an orderly fashion? Yeah, that wasn’t us.

Not only did we oversleep, but chaos broke out in our room as everyone scrambled to get ready. The movers arrived on time, but we didn’t prepare.

I heard a pounding at the door and dragged my butt out of bed, walking to the door, yawning as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I opened the door to see three burly men standing there in uniforms. They looked at me and realized what horror my hair looked like at that moment. I slammed the door on them.

They knocked again. /"Who is it?/" I asked through the door.

/"We’re from Movers R. Us. We’re here to move you today,/" one of them said.

/"You’re early!/" I yelled.

/"No, ma’am, your appointment was about nine,/" they answered.

I looked at the clock by my bed, and it was already past nine. /"Shit! Give me a minute./"
