3 Ch.3 - Wyvern Dragon Queen

While the Wyverns hunted down the ship, Alex was escorted by 4 wyverns to a palace. This palace was massive In size, the gate was big enough for him to fit through normally. This palace was made out of some sort of black stone with some parts being crimson to accent it.

The gates rumbled as they were opened.

Alex walked in and found at the end of the hall was another gate which was also opened, a wyvern lay coiled up on the ground in there. This was the Wyvern Queen.

[Quest 'Escape!' completed.]

[Universal Mental Communication awarded.]

[Skill: Universal Mental Communication]

[Info: Can communicate with any physical creature with a brain by transmitting the intent of your message to it.]

[Limits: Can only link with 12 targets at a time, and targets can not leave a distance of half a mile.]

Alex activated the skill instinctively.

[Hello.] Alex thought with the intent of her hearing it.

She raised her head and looked at Alex in surprise.

[It's quite rare for even a saint dragon as young as you to awaken universal communication, even if it's in a flawed form.] Alex heard a surprised gentle feminine voice in his head.

[A saint dragon? Is that what I am?] Alex asked, inwardly he was satisfied with the skill, this could solve the language barrier he's been having.

She was even more surprised hearing he didn't even know what branch of dragon he was.

The wyvern seemed to frown [Did your clansmen not tell you?]

Alex looked down… He still remembered all the corpses.

[No… From the moment I was born, they were dead. Someone or something killed them, I'm the only survivor.] Alex responded slightly depressed. He had been quite lonely.

The wyvern's eyes widened in shock. [The saint dragon clan to the north is gone!?]

Alex nodded.

[How… How could this have happened? Multiple at the 9th Divine realm or above would have had to make a move to do this…] The queen muttered.

Meanwhile, Alina said something to Alex.

[They were wiped out by the heavens themselves, a consequence of you being reborn.] Alina said to him.

'What?!? Why?' Alex thought.

[Rebirth is forbidden by the 12 heroes, 24 champions, and 36 warriors of this world. As the most powerful individuals in this world, the heavens of this world will enforce any reasonable rules they might wish to set collectively. Banning people from being reborn with their memories intact into this world is indeed a reasonable request.]

Alex sighed.

'Should I tell the wyvern queen?'

[NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!] Alina yelled in horror.

Silence reigned for a couple of seconds before she cleared her throat.

[My creator paid a huge price to reincarnate you, it would absolutely not want to see you die due to such foolishness.] Alina explained, obviously embarrassed about her outburst earlier. Things like this made Alex subconsciously think of Alina as a real person.

Alex didn't ask further seeing she was hesitant to say even that much.

[Hey, are you okay?] The wyvern queen asked bringing him back to his senses.

Alex shook his head [Why would I be ok? The first thing I saw in this world was the dead charred corpses of my clansmen… It's been lonely until now.]

The wyvern's gaze turned to that of one of pity.

[Come here.] The wyvern queen said.

Alex was hesitant but in the end, walked forward. She extended her wing upward giving space for Alex to climb under. Alex ended up snuggling up to her.

He was still a baby in dragon years. 10 years was usually barely enough for a baby dragon to learn how to fly, spit fire, and the basics of hunting among a few other things.

Despite him being huge at this age, saint dragons could grow to be the size of mountains.

Just the wyvern queen alone was the size of a large manor on her own.

When she took him under her wing Alex couldn't help but snuggle up close to her and close his eyes peacefully.

[Do you want to join my clan?] The queen asked.

Alex nodded against her side. Was he acting like a baby now, yes, but he didn't mind. Honor, pride, dignity? What was that in the face of happiness?

[Alright, I dub you my 2nd son. I promise you, no matter what happens, we will find out what happened to your clan.]

Alex simply rested for a bit and eventually fell asleep, today was exhausting, he had used his bloodline for the 3rd time in this life. His bloodline energy was a bit exhausted and needed time to recover.

When he fell asleep the wyvern queen seemed to smile.

A moment later a much larger wyvern entered. This was the wyvern king.

[You intend to take him in?] The king asked sighing.

[Yes, do you have a problem with it?] She asked a question in response. Although she seemed calm, the wyvern king could feel a certain fierceness behind her calm tone. He shivered, he knew she wouldn't take 'yes' for an answer.

He shook his head reluctantly [I have no problem with it… But he bears the mark of rebirth.]

She nodded realizing what happened to Alex's clan now. [So? He's my child now, even the heavens can only dream of killing him with me around. As for suffering lightning tribulation… Let it come. The ones that survive will be much stronger than before.]

The dragon let out a sigh through his nostrils, causing crimson lightning to crackle.

[Alright…]

With that, the king left.

Hours passed and Alex began recovering his bloodline energy at a steady pace. While he was sleeping, wyverns were moving about in this paradise of a land.

The queen watched as he slept peacefully.

'Even if the sky falls down… I won't let you die, my child… Rest well.' She thought before falling asleep herself for a bit.

When she woke up again, she sent a mental communication to her 4 children and instructed them to wait in the meeting hall. She also began making arrangements for Alex's future all without disturbing his rest. Eventually, he began twitching, he was having a nightmare…

A nightmare where this was just a dream… a dream that his brain made up in his final moments in order to die without regrets… Years passed in this dream but ultimately he still woke up on a medical bed getting ready to die.

The queen stared worriedly at Alex. She gently caressed his scales with her talon trying to calm him down. Eventually, he returned to normal sleep with a peaceful smile on his face.

'Sleep well, kiddo. Whatever fears you may have from your past life we will get through together…' She thought.

Eventually, Alex began slowly waking up.
