Chapter 52

A stream of fire crashed into another Nevermore, effectively killing it as another one took its place. Reid couldn't count how many of them he had destroyed in the past five minutes.

The only thing of note that he recognized happening was the strength of his fire increasing as the skill leveled up.

Despite how many of them he must have killed, they never seemed to be scarce in his sight as they were gathered around the ship.

Ashton was unable to anything's he didn't have any form of ranged attack. Silva on the other hand had taken manual control of the airship to try and maneuver them to safety to no avail.

From what he could decipher with [Area Sense], the majority of them were gathered around the hatch where they perceived the threat to be.

Though he was happy to level up [Fire Aura Transformation] even more, he preferred to do that when he wasn't hundreds of feet in the air.

A lightning charged kunai shot out of his hand and through the hard beak of flying Grimm. He thrust his palm outward, the airship shaking as a large ball of fire shot out, missing its initial target.

"Stop shaking so much!" Reid shouted behind him to the man in the pilot area.

"Unless you want us to crash, be my guest!" The man responded above all the noise.

Just as he spoke, the entire ship shook violently as a Nevermore slammed into the side of the ship. Getting an idea, Reid turned to the man.

"Go as fast as you can. I've got an idea." He said to the man who looked at him like he was crazy.

"What good will that do? They'll simply trail behind until the tank is empty and we fall out of the sky." Silva said, skeptical of whatever the boy had in mind.

"Just do it!" Reid said as he dashed back to the hatch where the Nevermores were overwhelming Ashton who tried to beat those who got close.

*Chirp!* *Chirp!* *Chirp!* *Chirp!*

The sound of chirping lightning was heard as streaks of lightning shot out from behind Ashton into the crowd of Grimm, scattering them.

The boy turned behind him to see Reid with his outstretched hand crackling with lightning. Silva saw that from the corner of his eyes as he frowned.

As much as he didn't want to admit it, he had to follow whatever Reid had planned. He couldn't leave the steering wheel and Ashton was basically useless in this kind of scenario. That left Reid who had kept the ship from being turned to a fall piece of scrap metal.

Reid felt the airship go faster, gathering his aura at his feet to begin his plan. Jumping to the ceiling, he grabbed a hold of the outer roof before pulling himself up to stand on top of the airship.

He was using his aura to keep himself standing properly and barely affected by the speed at which the ship was moving.

He saw with his own eyes as the ship put some distance between itself and the crowd of monsters. They were far enough that he could concentrate on gathering his aura.

His eyes closed as he slowly and carefully pulled on the immense amount of aura he had within him. He perceived the world through [Area Sense], 'seeing' the formation in which they flew.

They flew in a clustered manner, moving close together as they chased after them.

Reid's eyes opened slowly, his hair fluttering from the amount of aura moving around him. He took in a slow and deliberately deep breath, his cheeks puffing out before exhaling powerfully.

A literal sea of flames was expelled from his lips, spreading in all directions in front of him. The Nevermores were completely engulfed by the searing flames, easily destroying them as it washed over them.

The area of effect was so wide that it covered the entire horde. Ashton who was in the hatch watched in shock as the sea of flames travelled through the air and decimated the horde of Grimm.

His body felt weak as he witnessed the power of the boy younger than him.

"Wha- What is this power!?' He thought in shock as the flames slowly died down, though the heat he felt even from that distance remained.

Reid who was on top of the ship grimaced, ignoring the notifications that popped up as he felt the slight burn on his lip. Though he had succeeded in what he wanted to do, his technique was too rough and unrefined.

[Heat Resistance] and [Fire Resistance] helped avoid him burning his throat and mouth beyond repair but not totally as seen by the burn marks around his mouth.

'No better time to test this out.' He thought as his used a skill that he hadn't touched since he got it.

His palm lit up in a soft green glow as he lifted it up to his face. It took more than a few seconds but the burn marks on his face slowly disappeared.

[*Ding!*]

[Heal has leveled up!]

Heal[Active][Level 2]

He just barely felt the increase in its effectiveness but his burns was already fully healed.

'I wonder what it'll be able to do at max level.' He thought absentmindedly as he jumped down with his hand on the edge of the ship, swinging back inside through the the hatch that was still open.

His eyes saw Ashton who looked at him in shock and slight awe. He ignored that as he moved towards the pilot area where Silva sat steering the ship.

He observed the buttons in front of him before his eyes zeroed in on the one he was looking for. Before he could press it, Silva pressed it, causing the hatch to close automatically.

He eyed the boy cautiously. Though he had seen him do many things, this one was far beyond his expectations.

Transforming your aura into elements was already crazy enough. Now he had done something that would cause the greatest scientists to go green in envy and cry in outrage.

"Since when could you do that?" He asked tentatively as Reid turned to him calmly.

"Since two minutes ago. It's fairly simple to achieve." He said, not mentioning how much trial and error he went through when he first started attempting aura Transformation.

Silva looked calm but on the inside, he was screaming in the shock at the boy's dismissal about performing something clearly extraordinary.

'Miko…I finally understand what you meant. This boy has more potential than any I could ever imagine.' He thought, his eyes staring at Reid.

"Do we have enough dust to take us to Ansen village?" Reid asked, causing Silva to let out a wry smile.

"We're already there." He answered, gesturing to the small village that could be seen in the distance in front of them.
