Chapter 86: RWBY: Grimm Eclipse (5)

~Third POV~

Walking around the pathway of the underground City beneath Mt. Glenn Jack and Koromaru both were cautious of the area as they were gliding their way forward with Jack using <Glyphs> to propel them using repulsion.

Making a fast path forward the two observe the sad scene and state of the Underground City of Mt. Glenn making Jack shake his head in disappointment and a hint of sadness.

Mountain Glenn is a defunct city dwelling comprised of destroyed and dilapidated buildings. Grimm and sand have begun to retake the landscape.

The area also boasted an extensive subway system, taking advantage of the preexisting underground caverns; these caverns also contain a makeshift village as derelict as the rest of the city.

Passing through the debris of a ruined underground city Jack glances all around the city stopping to use <Glyphs> and beginning to use <Metal Skin> and <Polarity> to create a makeshift flying ability by controlling his body to fly around the city.

Mountain Glenn was the Kingdom of Vale's first serious attempt at expansion.

The kingdom developed an elaborate underground metro system that allowed the settlers to commute to and from the main kingdom and the new territory, thus bypassing the danger of the Grimm, while also setting up an aggressive perimeter defense that worked for a short period of time, keeping the thousands of the city's residents safe in their new home.

However, Mountain Glenn did not boast the natural barriers Vale did, and as such Grimm attacks began to increase every day until inevitably, they overwhelmed the city's defenses.

These ever-increasing attacks were partly due to the actions of Merlot Industries which worked to attract more Grimm for the purpose of experimentation.

In a last-ditch effort to stave off destruction, the citizens of Mountain Glenn took refuge in the tunnels they had initially cleared for their subways, converting them into an underground settlement and cutting themselves off from the surface entirely.

Unfortunately, this supposed safe haven was eventually compromised when an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern filled with subterranean Grimm.

This left the town completely exposed and the remaining citizens beyond saving. With no other recourse, Vale sealed off the tunnels permanently, creating the world's largest tomb. The ruins of Mountain Glenn now stand as a reminder for history to reflect upon.

Using <Observe> Jack began to find a way around the ruined city glancing above him with a smirk evident on his face, "Bingo. That must be one of the sinkholes around Mt. Glenn's topside above. Hold on Koro."

Koro nods his head gaining more understanding thanks to Jack leveling together gaining more bonuses with each stat evident increase Koro's understanding.

*Woosh*

Lightly increasing his <Polarity> on Jack's own metal body parts he began to increase his speed when he finally arrived topside of the sinkhole with Grimm all around making their way to rush towards him.

As they enclose faster the Beowolves were about to rush towards the two when Jack began to form water surrounding them thanks to <Water Attraction> coming into contact with the water vapor existing in the air to form it.

Glaring at the Grimm he began to shoot out a volley of Water Bullets size at them all forcing them back Jack got easily annoyed by this, "I don't have time for you guys I'm a very busy man. Now then where exactly is that building?"

Taking flight once more going high above the Grimm ignoring them with Koromaru on the back of Jack's bag getting a full-eye view of the Sky Jack is trying to locate the person solely responsible for Mt. Glenn's destruction building.

Merlot Industries.

Merlot Industries was a research and development corporation that had its main facility in the ill-fated settlement of Mountain Glenn. It was likely founded by Doctor Merlot.

The corporation initially led research into artificial intelligence and genetics.

However, they began experimenting on live Grimm, later going as far as attracting Grimm to Mountain Glenn in order to acquire additional specimens, with disastrous results.

The corporation lost its primary facility as well as many of its chief staff officers in the fall of Mountain Glenn. It was unable to recover from this blow, shutting down shortly after.

Taking a view from high above Jack glanced around till he finally found the tallest building with an 'M' like insignia on the building causing Jack to comment, "Oh. So that's where Merlot Industries is at. Kind of glad I remembered this guy from that RWBY game. Better make sure he doesn't bother us. And get his technology while I'm at it."

*Woosh*

Floating his way to the ground level of the abandoned Merlot Industries facility in Mountain Glenn Jack made his way to the entrance level while using <Observe> to not detect any Grimm nearby.

Koromaru jumped off now walking by Jack's side seeing the door was locked by a terminal Jack use his Aura to connect inside using his Skill <Technopathy> to unlock it while gaining control inside.

*Beep*

Hearing a beeping sound with a smirk on Jack's face he saw the metal door opening up powered by whatever energy reserves the abandoned facility had Jack commented on this, "This will make things a bit more easier. Come on Koro. We don't need to stay with the Grimm, tonight right?"

"Woof!"

Barking in agreement the two enter the abandoned facility with the metal door closing up tightly with the Hunter and dog observing the inside of the first floor filled with dust and spider webs inside.

*Beep*

Listening to a beeping sound Jack goes towards his <Deep Pockets> taking out a light stick and cracks making an illuminating light leaving a few down as Koro actives his semblance <Shadow Control> wagging his tail.

The shadows soon solidified as eyes and mouths were formed but one quick small slap on the back of Koromaru's head not to hurt him stopped his semblance while warning his pet, "No Koro. Save your Semblance when you need it. Shame you need light to activate it but at least use it when needed ok?"

Koromaru whimpers a bit but soon barks fully happy seeing Jack care for him barking happily, "Wh-mm…? Woof!"

Nodding and taking it as understanding they both continued to observe the abandoned facility inside taking some looks around till Jack found a terminal for him to use.

Going towards it and placing Aura on the machine itself Jack began to use <Technopathy> to log inside the data stored inside while examining the contents through his head and on the screen provided while Koromaru looks around sniffing anything he could find.

While sitting down on the terminal Jack began to look through the achieves of logs within the abandoned Merlot facility searching through different files as he glances at them, "M-hmm… All of these files are really old, especially with Merlot's early studies of the Grimm mutations. Scary. Now then… where can I find any signals…"

Searching through the info of data Jack began to glance at the files using his <Technopathy> he managed to pick up a signal through the servers of the abandoned facility getting Jack's attention immediately, "What…! This signal… this is similar to the CCT in Vale, Atlas, Mantle, Mistral, and Vacuo but this is unregistered… unless…"

Smiling with a grin shown on Jack's face he smirked wildly bringing up his Scroll beginning to cross reference a map and the coordinates needed, "Come on… if I picked up this signal… then that means – "

*Beep*

*Beep*

Next Jack sees that the coordinates matched his Scroll seeing a random spot inside an open part of the sea blinking in surprise gathering the info received from Merlot's real base Jack smirks at this in joy, "That's it! That's the one! Yes…!!! Finally, it looks like I managed to find out about Merlot's secret island. Now is the best chance to make my way there!"

Grinning at the info provided Jack began to hide his trail using his <Technopathy> hiding from Merlot or his security systems if they get curious about locating Jack talking to himself, "Ok. Now I backtracked covering my trail. Wonder if Merlot still stuff for me has to use?"

Rechecking the logs inside Merlot Industry's abandoned facility Jack managed to find shipment documents reviewing a few of them when one of them caught his attention, "Let's see… oh? One Bullhead was damaged and needed repairs at the date when the great tragedy that befell Mt. Glenn happened. Rest their souls."

Taking a moment of silence to respect the dead Jack returns his attention to the info about a damaged Bullhead in the lower levels of the facility.

Knowing this info, he began to deactivate the security systems and servers within the facility getting Koromaru attention and standing up after what seems like hours searching for the info needed, "Come on Koromaru. We have a Bullhead to recover and maybe decorate for our little home. You up for its little buddy?"

"Woof!"

Agreeing immediately rushing to his side and following Jack they both began to take their time inside the facility of the abandoned industry.

While walking to their destination it was at that moment Jack received a mission for to do on the screen in front of him.

Seeing the screen Jack's expression darkened seeing what will happen as he calm himself down talking to Koromaru in a lighter tone, "Come on Koro. We have a mad scientist to put down. You with me boy?"

"Woof!"

Barking confirming with Jack's words with his small tail wagging around Jack smiled at this. Then soon enough the two began to search for the damaged Bullhead in order to find Dr. Merlot's coordinates.

/////

Elsewhere in the Schnee Mansion with Weiss inside the home frowning at the seen seeing her servants decorating for the event her father has in place talks to herself, "Sigh… all of this for father friends coming in the next few days. Wish I could bring mine..."

"You seem unwell sister?"

Hearing an annoying voice making her scowl hearing her brother voice.

Whitely Schnee.

Turning around Weiss sees Whitley has white hair and light blue eyes with a fair complexion. His hair is mostly pushed to the left, although he does have a cowlick. Whitley is fairly tall with a slender build and stands a few inches taller than his older sister Weiss.

His attire consists of a short-sleeved white dress shirt, the sleeves fastened just above his elbows by navy blue cuffs, each with twin gold buttons. Over his untucked shirt, he wears a light blue vest, with a black handkerchief in his right breast pocket. He also wears a black necktie, navy blue trousers, and black dress shoes.

Not bothering to reply to Whitely only giving him the basics of communication to him since they weren't close, "No dear brother. I need to see… how mother is doing."

Whitely frowns at this but keeps his side showing Weiss kindness and respect façade to her, "If you need her dear sister. Mother is at the family Garden."

Weiss nods at this going to her family Garden and seeing her mother Willow Schnee drinking away her problems.

Willow is a fair-skinned woman with slate-blue eyes. She wears her white hair tied up in a bun, low on the right side of the back of her head, while her bangs are shaped around the left side of her face and a small, curled lock of hair reaching almost to her shoulders.

Her attire is colored navy blue, white, and gray, consisting of a white coat with sleeves that expose her upper arms, a red-lined high collar, and a red brooch.

Willow wears her hair in a low ponytail over her left shoulder. Her attire consists of a white cravat secured by a silver brooch set with a red stone, as well as a light purple jacket with light sleeves, a wide belt around her waist, and a matching pencil skirt with black tights and slippers.

Weiss could only sigh sadly seeing the state of her mother thinking to herself in her lonely mansion home, 'Sigh… I really wish some friends here would lively up the place… I wish staying at Beacon with my friends would last longer...'

Truly Weiss wasn't having the best of time with her family...

Seeing her mother is busy being drunk Weiss returned to her own room activating her Semblance <Glyph> on the floor…

*Shiii*

"Grr…"

Suddenly a Beowlove appeared making Weiss smile talking to herself in a grateful tone, "I still need to practice my summoning but… I'm making progress with this. Brute— no Jack I wish to show the free time you spent on me boosting my aura finally pushed me summoning. I just wish you were here to show you how thankful I am. That thanks to you helped me reach where I struggled for years with… When we meet again I promise to show my thanks."

Like that Weiss used her time on how she wants with no one to tell her what to do.
