Chapter 76: Bounty Mission (2)

Chapter 76: Bounty Mission (2)

~Third POV~

"Ugh…"

Returning their minds in order again Team (J)NPR with Ren, Nora, Pyrrha, and Glynda both began to wake up as they try to recall something in the café with Ren speaking first, "Ugh… guys… why are we inside the café again. And with Professor Goodwitch?"

As they all looked around they began to see people talking Glynda was confused about the situation as she spoke to a nearby person who happens to be Honey Wine as she spoke confused, "I'm sorry to bother you but… do you happen to know what happened?"

Their eyes were dazed in clear confusion when Honey Wine talked in song as if it will allow her to use her semblance at best.

Honey Wine was a member of Spider who used to operate, in a local Mistral nightclub, The Luck of the Mountains.

She was used by the organization for her Semblance, which made those who listened to her song feel good and prone to listening to her suggestions and ignoring their surroundings, making them easy to pickpocket.

Although pressured and blackmailed again by the Spiders forced to work them again as she used her semblance for the job again <Alluring Song>.

Honey Wine, an operative of Spider, has the power to distract and lure people who hear her <Alluring Song>, making them easy to command and oblivious to their surroundings.

Honey Wine smiled as she sang a bit in her reply to Glynda as their eyes daze further, "Why no darling but what I see is that you and all have been teaching them how to be the best of the best they can be in private lessons~"

Although forced and sounded bad it was enough as Glynda shakes her head immediately agreeing with her, "Right… there was something about helping you all with your grades. Hence the private lessons here by…?"

Honey Wine sang around as her words entered their ears poisoning them in confusion, "To teach how to be the best of the best in school as students ask for help in combat and know how all for their own needs~ Da do dee la~"

Listening to Honey Wine it was Ren as he began to reply in a neutral but confused tone but soon turns to confidence, "Right… we… we asked Glynda for private meetings. We needed to be our best when we have a mission, so we came to ask her more about it."

Glynda began to see nods of acceptance coming from her students as she began to teach them the tips needed.

Honey Wine simply took the time to leave the area back to her Harmony Club with a reluctant smirk on her face as she thinks to herself, 'So long as Lady Beat gets her leave from Vale the sooner, I get my freedom again paying the Spiders back.'

Elsewhere in some abandoned warehouse acting caught completely off-guard Jack was bound with an Aura Suppressor as he heard one of the Spider Grunts speaking to Neo, "Alright brat make sure you keep guard on him. We placed Aura Suppressor so that he can't use his aura. The boss wants him to feel in terror before we collar him. Got it bitch."

Neo merely nodded as Jack was cuffed on the hand he soon saw a message on his screen clearly displeased by the situation, he was giving himself into.

[Notice the User has been placed with <Aura Suppressor> use of Aura-related skills is temporarily canceled.]

Seeing this with a small crack of his eyelids open he is forcing, himself from clicking his tongue at this info, 'Tch. Guess I got to do this the good old fashion way then it is.'

*Thud*

Opening a door slightly Neo placed Jack inside a basement and tied him up to a nearby pole as she gently began to leave the area to safeguard it as Jack opens his eyes fully awake.

He quickly examined the room as it was empty, dirty, and wet with puddles, but his eyes landed on the creature tied up clearly making Jack frown seeing it, "An Apathy. Of fucking course, it would be one of these things."

But he did manage to see a Grimm.

"SCREEE!!!"

An Apathy.

/////

~Jack POV~

The Apathy is humanoid in shape, somewhat similar to the Imp, but is very tall, with long arms that reach down as far as the ground and extremely long fingers.

They have hideous faces, resembling skulls, some even lacking nostrils, and low-hanging jaws.

There are at least four variants to the Apathy's appearance, two being extremely hunched back, whereas the others stand taller.

Apathy has the ability to use a scream that weakens its prey by draining their will.

This works through remote proximity, but if the Apathy can see their target, the effects become much stronger. If the prey is startled, they are jolted out of these remote effects, albeit temporarily.

Repeated attacks will weaken a target to the point of falling asleep while in combat, or even cause their death while unconscious. They also seem to have the ability to drain willpower from remote proximity.

However though…

[Ding!]

[Notice the skill of <Willpower-Draining Screech> has been detected!]

[<Mind Resist> Blocks the skill <Willpower-Draining Screech>!]

[<Mind Resist> LEVEL UP!]

[Notice the skill of <Willpower-Draining Screech> has been detected!]

[<Mind Resist> Blocks the skill <Willpower-Draining Screech>!]

[<Mind Resist> LEVEL UP!]

They only make me stronger the longer I'm exposed to them as I feel myself getting sleepy but not enough to be a concern but more so to keep my mind intact.

[<Mind Resist> LEVEL UP!]

Only smirking to myself this is easy and with this Apathy helping me train my <Mind Resist> skill I better hope to use them to train it against people mind fucking with me again.

Now about these Aura Suppressors on my wrist and the tied up to a pole…

"Whew…."

Breathing in and out I began to focus on using my <Unarmed Combat>, <Super STR>, <Martial Arts Mastery>, and my new skill <Breathing> to have a better chance to break the cuffs they have on me.

Focusing on breaking them with pure strength I'm kind of glad that I spent my stats on my STR stats because I can be as strong as I need to be physical with the Huntsman/Huntresses-in-training.

The one thing I learned very quickly is the fact that the people there don't train their bodies hard enough so with me having decent fighting and physical strength is necessary for me to have in order to compete.

The Huntress/Huntsman-in-training completely ignore their physical training when Aura was introduced becoming their crutch always relying on it. It was so bad that even the Professors in Beacon say that losing one's aura in a battle against Grimm is instant death.

Ha…

Tell that to me when I fought barehanded against Grimm or using skills to help me survive the outcome but still they should train their bodies they physically can since Aura is just a booster to us.

Sigh…

I'll worry about the whole education system later right now I have some bigger issues to deal with right now. And thanks to Honey Wine screwing with my team and Glynda I have to make some tough choices here but also, I need to figure out where exactly am I at the moment.

*Creee*

Slowly using my strength I began to easily deal with the cuffs with the stacked strength of my levels as they break more and more easily…

"SCREEE!!!"

[<Mind Resist> LEVEL UP!]

Feeling another wave of screeching I took the moment to see the Grimm as I wondered… can I take their skills as well?

Hmm…

<Fusion>.

[Ding!]

[-Fusion Conditions-

Description: Apathy is Grimm that are cannon fodder for merely one of them but in a pack, they prove to be a scary foe to face alone. Merely be within the Apathy for 30 minutes.]

Raising an eyebrow at this seeing can get a skill by staying close to it for the next 30 minutes it could prove useful to have the skill to drain the willpower of my enemies and could come in handy for the upcoming fight.

But I need to break these cuffs if I want to stand a chance to break free.

"Whew…"

*Creee*

*Creak*

Bingo.

[Ding!]

[Notice of Aura Suppressor cuffs have been destroyed! Use of Aura Skills is now permitted!]

Nice.

Breaking my way from the cuffs and next to the rope I merely used my Aura skills to enhance myself again breaking the rope they used to tie me up as I left on the floor looking like I escaped but…

Turning my head towards the door I can't help what the people here have planned and fortunately, I have my Scroll kept inside my <Deep Pockets> in case something like this were to happen or get stolen.

Taking out my Scroll I began to smirk seeing that I have enough bars to ask for help or help get info but if my team and Glynda are alerted while inside the café could be trouble as the Spiders overwatching could sense something up.

Going over my Scroll I began to type in the coordinates I would need to have my weapon locker launched in my direction if I can't rely on my team and Glynda to notice then the next best thing would be getting Ozpin attention.

He would know since I have been shadowing Glynda and I can't call team RWBY since they already left when they got their mission with Ms. Peach from our class on an escort mission carrying sap from the Forever Falls.

Having it on the ready-to-send I began to play the victim to catch my oppressors off guard if not run away.

That's a good backup plan but what to do about Neo well… I was planning to complete that <Fusion> request here and I have some food stockpile long enough to last half a day.

Also…

With my strength stacked the <Collar of Obedience> enough for me to break it the next question is how should I go about dealing with Neo?

Here's hoping my LUCK works and some faith in surviving –

"SCREEE!!!"

[<Mind Resist> LEVEL UP!]

And my goddamn attention span as well as my ears hearing this Apathy screaming at me for the last 30 minutes better be worth it.

If I can withstand it's constant screaming that is…
