Chapter 31: The First Step (5)

~Third POV~

*BRRR*

*Thud*

A loud engine sound was heard throughout the Emerald Forest as a Bullhead landed at the outskirts of the Bullhead and released a walk bridge on the cliffside.

Students began to come following outside the vehicle where they immediately see Ozpin and Glynda as Ozpin begins to talk to them out loud, "We will now begin initiation. Now then please take your positions as soon as possible!"

At Beacon Cliff, overlooking a forest, where several students some old, some new, and some unseen are standing on silver tiles in front of a mug-holding Professor Ozpin and Glynda with her tablet.

Ozpin first begins to explain to his students what to expect as he explains to them expecting great things from them, "For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."

Glynda the professor at Beacon Academy began to announce the teams the instructions for their teams, "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today."

That was when Ozpin then begins to explain the rules to the students casually making some of them nervous for the trials ahead of them and the people they pair up with, "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So, it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

Some of the students laugh nervously at this feeling of pressure ahead of them.

Jack merely tightens his fist as he began to think to himself nervously about the events to come in the near future only made him feel more nervous, 'No worries Jack. You can do this. I just can't fail or else certain evil suicidal milf would destroy the world. Or Gods… or Humans… or evil terrorist organizations… The sooner I get this done the better would be for my mental state.'

Ozpin then begins to explain to the students what he expects from them as well as gave them a safety net of sorts to them about being monitored in a casual tone to them, "You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

No students taking on the Headmaster's options of questions made Ozpin smile taking a whiff of his mug of hot chocolate as he responds to everyone happily, "Good! Now, take your positions."

Everyone agreed immediately they went ahead to see the tiles at the ready for them to step on with their name plates shown on the screens as everyone ready their spots as carefully be prepared.

Glynda now began to voice out her words to the students as she began to speak out, "Well then everyone, have a safe landing."

"What? We're going on this?"

"Nice! Isn't this fun?"

Jack listens in to Ruby and Yang's conversation as he was No.9 on his tile while Ruby was No.8 and Yang is No.7 as he nervously thinks to himself about being launched, 'I've got an idea of how this works. But I'm not going to like being right in the next few seconds.'

*BOOM*

Next came one of the first students fired off as Jack saw this feeling a bit nervous but now that he was here at this moment he thought, 'Welp there goes my sanity but… Seeing that Glynda is here… <Fusion>!'

Like that Jack using his Semblance <Fusion>, he began to see a window screen

Description: Glynda Goodwitch is a staff member and current Headmistress at Beacon Academy. She shares Ozpin's ideals about what embodies the perfect Huntsman and hates goodbyes. You have to impress Glynda Goodwitch during the test to show you have the perfect qualification of being a Huntsman.]

*BOOM*

"Woo-hoo!"

*BOOM*

"Yeah!"

"AHHH!"

After the last one, Jack screams in surprise being literally launched into the air as Glynda comments about the students, "I wonder what kinds of teams we'll get this year. And the boy Ozpin? Do you honestly think Jack Nights have what it takes to be a Huntsman?"

"And what kinds of leaders will appear right?"

That was when the two instructors began to view another Huntsman enter the cliff side casually looking around as Ozpin makes his opening comment, "I thought you went on a journey in search of your prey, Shion Zaiden."

Shion appears to be a young person with long silver hair and lavender eyes. They have light purple nail polish on their fingernails.

Their outfit consists of loose light purple long sleeves with their shoulders exposed, baggy white trousers with a black sash that holds three golden keys, and high heel black boots. In addition to their attire, they wear a big light lavender mage hat with three black feathers on it and a black fabric collar with two gold rings around it.

Shion replied to Ozpin as he walks closer to his side as he spoke in a calm and stoic tone, "And that's exactly why I'm here, Professor."

Professor Ozpin began to talk back in a calm tone, "So that Grimm is here?"

Shion agreed by nodding his head with a reply, "Yes. The Test may become dangerous"

Ozpin with no show of conern on his face just continues to speak to Shion in a calm tone, "There's no such thing as a safe initiation test."

Shion turns his head and attention towards the headmaster in a calm tone of his voice, "You believe that future Huntsman should be able to overcome any difficulties?"

Ozpin takes a sip from his cup as he turns around to face Shion with a calm smile as he replied to Shion, "Of course. I also hope that your hunt end in success."

Closing his eyes and taking up his bag he began to leave the Headmaster as Shion began to hunt his prey as he bid them goodbye, "You never change. Well then, until next time."

Like that Shion began to leave the side as Ozpin returns to view the distance of where the students were thrown off towards as he spoke out to Glynda, "As for Jack Nights Glynda… hmm… who knows really? But I always have been good at collecting talent from just an eye glance Glynda. Who knows he might just surprise us yet."

With the cloud of students now making their way down into the forest below under the eyes of the teachers?

Ozpin, for his part, simply takes a sip of his drink as Glynda sighs at him, "Ah… now this is really some good cocoa to go along with doing my favorite part of the job."

The Emerald Forest serves as the location where the initiation of new Beacon Academy students takes place. It extends away from Beacon Cliff on top of which the academy is situated.

Ozpin informs the students that those who enter the forest will meet 'opposition,' which is revealed to be the monsters known as Grimm.

In order to monitor the forest and its hostile inhabitants, the school has installed cameras in several locations throughout the woods.

It is unknown exactly how many types of Grimm live in the forest, but it is shown that Beowolves, Ursai, King Taijitus, Nevermores, and Death Stalkers take residence there.

Some of the Grimm live in caves in the forest and have done so for so long that the caves are decorated with old cave art depicting Humans fighting Grimm.

*BANG*

Yang, soaring right over the treetops, is using her gauntlets and their fiery force to push her through the air further and further north, spinning and laughing with each blast, even when she crashes through the leaves of a tree.

*BANG*

Yang while in the air used her gauntlets as she used one filled with Fire Dust on a nearby rock as she created a platform for herself to land.

Leaping down from her platform to the trees and then to the dirt ground surface she landed as she smirked to herself, "Woo-hoo! Yeah! Alley-oop! Nailed it!"

Emerald Forest, where a Ruby crash through the sky as she uses her trusted weapon Crescent Rose to recoil from the force to land near the ground and use her weapon as a stopper to decent to the ground.

*Bang*

Ruby fires off a few rounds from Crescent Rose to slow her down, then turns the weapon into its scythe form to catch the branch of a tree in her blade and fall downward at a slower pace.

*Thud*

When Ruby finally lands down, she immediately began searching for anyone she knew, "Yang where are you? Jack are you anywhere nearby? I don't wanna get split up!"

Like that she rushes into the Emerald Forest in search of an ally.

*Thud*

*Crack*

Pyrrha, and her weapon in sword form and armed with a shield, crashes through several trees and rolls on a branch, immediately shifting her blade into a rifle and looking through the scope of her rifle to see if there were any potential allies for her to gain.

Pyrrha has met up with some interesting students –

*Swoosh*

*Swoosh*

That was till she heard the sounds of gust followed by blue rose petals as if dashing towards a certain location as she turns her attention towards the sound as her eyes locked onto a familiar person as he simply flew down on the ground as the blue petals of aura began to form together into a noticeable Jack.

Jack began to materialize back to himself using <Petal Burst> as he began to talk to himself quietly about using <Petal Burst>, "Oh… still need to get used to that. Being able to disassemble and reassemble myself is very nauseating for the first few times. Good thing I got used to it when I had the time. Now then where to find a partner."

Like that the Beacon Exam begins.
