Chapter 172: The Crown (1)

~Jack POV~

"Sigh… why again am I doing this 2B?"

When the Vytal Festival was just around the corner 2B suddenly called me as we both fly towards the Vacuo Kingdom in the western area of the Sanus continent west of Vale actually.

I was training my team and Team RWBY but suddenly got a call from 2B about making port trades with the Vacuo Kingdom of wanting me personally to view the contract much to my annoyance but intrigued when the caller spoke first.

Xanthe Rumpole.

Xanthe Rumpole is a professor at Shade Academy and the right-hand woman of Professor Theodore the equal of Goodwitch in the political and social standing of power.

When I heard 2B over the Scroll talking about the deal it was actually her that answered no more like requesting that I personally be there along with my friends if they were interested.

No doubt in my mind I smell something off.

Not to call her a traitor or anything I just knew because of beforehand knowledge.

And 2B immediately deduced the same more like an open ambush for us to go through and wanted to make sure I bring my Team along or some from Team RWBY which immediately got our attention.

No way I would do something like that hence I deiced to bring Koromaru along with A2 currently in charge of handling the HQ of the Future Foundation in Menagerie for the time being till I or 2B returns.

"Arf!"

Patting my dog lightly scratching behind the ears making him whimper in joy I spoke to him happily, "Ah… that's a good boy. Who's the best doggo in the world huh? You are! Yes, you are Koro~"

Playing with Koro giving him plenty of attention I glanced my eyes to 2B with our own private air rides to the Vacuo Kingdom speaking to me, "Sir what is the likely hood of everything soon turning or escalating to out-of-hand civil war? Or possible mass suicide in one day today."

Civil war?

Great now what…

That's actually the last thing I need right now.

Raising an eyebrow at that 2B began to show me the reports of what to be careful of around Vacuo considering what they have at home as well as some info provided to learn more about their lands.

Vacuo is one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant, located on the western end of the continent of Sanus, to the west of Vale.

Like the rest of the Kingdoms, Vacuo is nominally governed by a council representing its people and their interests. However, the formal government's influence is marginal. The Huntsman Academy of Vacuo, Shade, is the only true source of law and order in the Kingdom.

The notable city of the Kingdom is its capital, Vacuo.

They really need to be very creative with their names though… Vale City. Atlas City. Mistral City. And now Vacuo City.

Gezz…

Couldn't the people of Remnant can't think of any other names to tie their own cities rather than just their Kingdom names?

Vacuo is located in the center of the vast and harsh desert on the western end of the continent of Sanus. Although once at the site of a hospitable oasis, many years of unchecked Human activity have changed its climate into a barren wasteland indistinguishable from the desert surrounding it.

Vacuo has very few permanent settlements. Most villages are nomadic and are named after the tribe that originally settled them. When the tribe moves out, they take the settlement's name with them to reuse at their new location.

Quite intriguing actually.

From what I can tell what the RWBY show did to show the world-building behind Vale, Atlas, Mantle, and Mistral they never had the chance for Vacuo because of that being Vol.10 or maybe 9 if it shows glimpses of it.

Everything here in Vacuo is filled with sand and the other kingdoms took everything from Vacuo dry of resources.

A lack of formal governance for most of their history has given Vacuans a disregard for laws and order. However, they live by the philosophy that anyone who is able to survive the harsh conditions of Vacuo is welcome to live among them, though there is a limit to this.

Hence the saying here is quite true for them.

There's really only one unspoken rule in Vacuo – if you can survive here, then you are welcome here.

Vacuans often form settlements and nomadic tribes, to avoid Grimm. Tribes can become extended families since the survival of fitness is a thing here.

Despite their general disdain for official legal structures, the realities of so many people living together can force them to pick a leader from among them. These tribes occasionally merge to move in large groups.

Outwards displays of emotion are looked down upon by nomads, as they attract Grimm something so controlling your emotions is mandatory at times.

However, in the City of Vacuo, the locals tend to have a different shade as compared to the nomadic desert tribes. Reminiscent of the Great War, citizens within the city are resentful towards other Kingdoms, only begrudgingly accepting people from Vale.

This is really understandable considering how the other Kingdoms in the Great War bent Vacuo's ass over and fucked it repeatedly over and over again before it loses its precious resource.

Bad analogy but not inaccurate.

Vacuans are known to call sand their local spice, as it is very hard to get it out of their food. Common food choices in Vacuo include cactus leaves, coffee, fried crevice worms, cave beetles, desert lotus tea, cactus tea, gecko cake, bat stew, ale, flatbread, and breadfruit.

Additionally, mole crabs are considered a delicacy in Vacuo, as they are dangerous and hard to hunt. They can be prepared in the following methods: crab burgers, crab steak, crab cake, and crab rangoon.

Hmm…

Never had mole crabs before and they do consider it a delicacy maybe I can bring some more back home oh wait maybe create a farm for them.

I mean I have my island and it has plenty of sand for them.

When I was overviewing the backstory history of Vacuo 2B managed to get my attention as she told me to look over, "Sir. We are about to arrive at the City of Vacuo to conduct the Capsule Contract with the Vacuo Trade."

Glancing over with Koro coming along to see through our window we saw the view of the City of Vacuo for the first time.

Feels like that Aladdin movie or Alabasta from One Piece viewing the scene in front of my very own eyes.

Unlike Vale or Atlas, which were brought about with civic planning and organized development, Vacuo is rather maze-like, composed primarily of improvised structures and crude architecture.

Due to the unstable nature of the city's foundations, entire sections of Vacuo can be destroyed very quickly by sandstorms, massive sinkholes, earthquakes, heavy rainstorms, and Grimm attacks. Consequently, much of Vacuo's construction is relatively recent, particularly near the city's outer wall.

Despite these complications, the city has maintained a semblance of order in its layout, with separate districts for residences and businesses and a wide street through the center of Vacuo for use as a marketplace.

Shade Academy dominates the city's skyline, its sturdy construction and distinct aesthetic setting it apart from, the rest of the city, both figuratively and literally. Vacuo's primary Cross Continental Transmit System Tower is located at the Academy's peak.

City Vacuans hold a large resentment towards other Kingdoms in the city. I seem to recall in the notes this is reminiscent of the Great War in which people were discriminated against by their kingdom of origin.

Weird…

But then again it kind of feels like Germany with the Nazis hating other races because they aren't Germans like them so the feeling could be similar although I do find this odd considering the fact I'm a complete alien to this planet of Remnant yet they welcome me in open arms?

Quite the strange predicament.

Whatever.

For now, I get the chance to see what Vacuo has to offer while having the chance to see what kind of dangers I can get myself into this time.

I better hope there are a lot of EXP I can get from this.

~Jax POV~

Yes…

Everything is going according to plan.

With the help of the Queen of Grimm Salem servants and her gifts granting us total control of Vacuo City thanks to these magic artifacts and weaponry.

Thanks to the <Eye of Grimm> it allowed me to gain more boost to my semblance and my sister helping me allow full control over the people I command. At first, I was skeptical of Cinder and her group of more power.

Yet… here it is living proof.

When the Headmaster of Vacuo returned, he was surely in for a surprise when I had his whole student body defeat him and his right-hand woman.

Ha!

The look on his face when fear set in when I fully controlled him locking his free will down only a suitable servant for me to use.

And it's all thanks to the Queen of Grimm Salem for making it all possible and the promise I made to her.

She will allow us to get control of the Vacuo Kingdom and ally ourselves with her. In return for this alliance between us, I would get what I wanted the return of ancient times rejecting Dust and modern high-tech weapons into simpler ones.

We never needed high-tech weapons to win only sheer determination and power to do it.

And of course, those with gifted Semblance meant to be in power.

And I will prove that in the stories of Malik the Sunderer that I am his true heir capable of pushing this task for my glorious bloodline!

But in order to do so I have to take care of the rest of Remnant in the future under Vacuan Rule… however, I need to deal with the Heroes of Remnant first before I could try anything on the world.

After all, I would be a fool to not notice their sheer determination and power saving Remnant oh no.

If I let them live as my servants it would be grand and even though I'm secretly the King of Vacuo at the moment I can't announce it out loud at least not yet till Salem calls my forces to lay waste to Vale during the Vytal Festival.

The perfect way to call for a change in the order of the world.

But first I need to take care of Jack Nights and what better way than sheer force of numbers to get the job done?

My supposed 'allies' say that I should go after him and wait till we strike during the Vytal Festival when we take all by surprise according to Cinder along with her pets following after her.

What kind whore would I listen to her that is too scared to go after the bigger prize.

Even that Queen of theirs is a coward.

I will do what they have no guts to do… capture and beat this Jack Nights.

Once he learns his place like he should everything will fall for the Vacuans rule.

And once he falls under my control there will be nothing stopping me from conquering Remnant as I please sending them back to ancient times!

For I Jax Asturias the bloodline heir of Malik the Sunderer shall prevail against this nobody!
