Chapter 164: Shady Business (1)

Chapter 164: Shady Business (1)

~Jack POV~

*Brrr*

Heading towards the Mistral Kingdom on my company name I was on a delivery run this time around with everyone busy with the Vytal Festival coming I decided to go ahead and use this time to collect a Relic.

Currently, 2B managed to secure us a lot of magic artifacts from Ghira when they discovered it in the Menagerie desert and are going through necessary scanning as I even think.

2B already had a shipment plan to take the crate full of Capsules to the Mistral Kingdom when I went over with her, I saw a golden chance to take the Relic of Choice as it was about time, and I get my answers.

And also, the possibility to see if I can copy Jinn skills and what conditions I have to full fill in the process I began to write down the Rokushiki techniques and the steps to learn them from Rob Lucci's memory when I used <Soul Archive> to get what I need.

Have to say some of the processes are barbaric but essential.

As the saying goes you need a strong body but a strong mind to match.

But what I didn't expect is this is the 5th time I wrote the book on how to properly use the Rokushiki and there is a reason why.

[<Author> LEVEL UP!]

Yup.

It's because of the new skill I got from merely writing the book I managed to recreate a means to an end of creating real-life skill books with my <Author> skill.

Skill List.

----

<Author> (Active) Lv.15/100 Exp: 31%

Description: An author is the writer of a book, article, or play, mostly written work. A broader definition of the word "author" states: "an author is "the person who originated or gave existence to anything" and whose authorship determines responsibility for what was created."

This skill allows the user to create Skill Books depending on what knowledge they wish to spread to those who wish to learn. Those who read your skill books will gain a proper understanding of what they read the higher the level of the skill the higher the chances of creating a skill book will be easier to make.

----

Busted.

This skill is really busted as hell but really beneficial to think of ways how to easily bypass the learning process and just obtain the skill knowingly right away.

Sigh…

Sighing out loud taking a chance to look over my first attempt at creating a skill book with my prior knowledge I began to see the first one I made was Shigan when I started out writing the book contents from memory became real.

However, the issue is the level it resulted for the Skill book that made me want to retrain this skill in particular.

<Observe>.

----

Item: Skill Book <Shigan>

Description: This skill book was created by using the skill <Author> allowing the reader to gain a fundamental understanding of the skill <Shigan> and how it works. Readers will gain an understanding of the skill by 1% when it was written by the author.

----

Yup.

That means only 1% of people will be able to understand the book because at the time I wrote it and the others kept on growing when I was able to have 10% or 9% when my <Author> skill at the time was at Lv.9 and Lv.10.

So yeah, I spent my time writing down copies of the Rokushiki techniques during my ride to the Mistral Kingdom delivering the Capsules.

*Beep*

Hearing the sound of my company Bullhead dropping down to the City of Mistral making our trade with the Mistral Trading Company.

I particularly don't like the Mistral Trading Company because of its actions during the Great War which makes me wary of them business-wise.

The Mistral Trading Company, or MTC, is a mining company that focuses primarily on the extraction and refinery of Dust. It was primarily active in Vacuo following the Great War but abandoned most of its stations after the kingdom's resources were expended. It uses the Zephyr Line to transport goods to Fort Charon.

Sometime after the Great War, the Mistral Trading Company purchased and built various Dust refineries throughout the Kingdom of Vacuo.

Using this, was key in depleting the Kingdom of its natural resources, and once their purpose had been served, the trading company pulled out of Vacuo and abandoned its facilities.

And don't get me started on the level differences in Mistral as it's clearly viewable of what's going with the difference between the rich and the poor like with Mantle and Atlas.

Mistral is divided into multiple levels; the higher one goes, the nicer it gets. A massive platform in the middle of the city acts as an elevator to descend and ascend through Mistral.

The city is full of various buildings and vendors selling merchandise legally and illegally. Haven Academy rests at the top of the tallest point.

The lower levels of the city, called Mistral Below, however, are shown to be worse than the upper levels and full of criminals. Many criminals like Lil' Miss Malachite have buildings that they use as their base of operations like bars.

Most of the Huntsmen that weren't working for the Kingdom's council were also stationed there until they were all killed. A place called Sakura Park is found on these lower levels.

Spiders…

I REALLY want to mess with them but…

I don't need to make enemies here today since my clone is dealing with talking to Roman and neo at the moment.

For now, I'm going to deal with the rats trying to find me out and Team SMMK about finding out any dirt on me.

At least I sent a clone to make sure that's cleaned up nicely by passing Atlas easily to clean up a certain rat long enough.

~Roman POV~

Sitting down across the table with Neo I was the 'Hero of Remnant' we were called in by him somehow taking our Scroll contact number.

He said he wanted to talk to us about something getting our attention and a means to hide what happened earlier to blow over with the Vytal Festival calming everyone.

Taking a moment to take a smoke I began to talk to the kid considering he brought us to his own private island, "Sigh… alright kid. You talked to us about a new deal with me?"

The kid merely smiled at this when he began to speak out directly about what he wanted to be done catching me and Neo by surprise, "I like it. Straight to the point Roman. What I want from you is to be my puppet in control of the entire Criminal Underworld with me being the mastermind behind it all."

Sorry but what?

My eyes widen hearing the deal with Neo speaking out confused voicing out her own reasoning why a hero wants to control crime, "Uh… aren't you supposed to be a hero? Wouldn't you want to destroy crime and evil all that jazz you good guys do?"

At that, the kid merely laughed at that with a confident grin on his face and he spoke out realistically about the criminal underworld, "Destroying crime? Ha! Now that's a good joke Neo but no. No matter how many times someone destroys crime it will always be back. It usually does no matter what happens. But controlling crime though? That's something more reasonable to do. Wouldn't you agree Roman?"

Narrowing my eyes at the kid his right on that idea.

No matter what happens no one can really destroy crime.

It's like a cockroach no matter how many times you crush it the roach will always be around to be annoying.

But controlling is actually possible considering I did the same thing in Vale being its Kingpin for a long time now when there was a vacuum of power left in the criminal underworld for the taking destroying the Spider and Xei family influence.

Leaning on the back of my chair I began to talk to the kid he wants to control the Vale Kingdom underworld, "So what? You want to take my place in being the Kingpin of Vale?"

Shaking his head what the kid suggested was something very big and ambitious with the words he spoke out, "Oh no. I meant the Remnant Kingdoms underworld. Vale can be later once everything blows over in the Vytal Festival. But Atlas, Mistral, Vacuo, and Mantle underworld is up for the taking."

I couldn't help but laugh at how delusional this kid is as I spoke out how unlikely that goal is, "Haha! Sorry kid but even that's near to impossible without the info needed to control the Criminal Underground of all the Kingdoms!"

Neo also laughed a bit at how ambitious he was.

*Beep*

Soon enough hard light Dust screen lit up when I saw the info about – wait for a second…

Reading through some of them I noticed some big names of Criminal Underworld bosses especially the one on Atlas named Amoncio Glass mob boss in Atlas avoiding the legal issues of Atlas getting illegal technology goods from Atlas Military.

I should know I used his connection to get me the Atlas Mechs to show off to the WF members and with that little Cinder bitch help somehow procuring them over to Vale.

But not only that those are some illegal manifests and deals that are digitally made while I slowly glance at the kid with a new sense of fear of how he obtained all of these kinds of information with him smiling.

The kid merely replied with an 'innocent' smile on his face as he spoke out knowingly, "Roman. Did you know that Remnant never had to deal with a cyber threat before? I looked over the history of the CCT and the history of why they never encountered someone with the ability to manipulate technology till I realized no one ever had this Semblance. I only know two who have it. She doesn't even know she has this ability… and the other is off in deep space of the multiverse."

I don't know why but suddenly I feel very nervous about his response while he took out his Scroll casually playing it as he finishes his words making me realize what he can do, "So what would happen if someone were too oh I don't know… hack the CCT without being noticed collecting EVERY single piece of information ever been sent through Scrolls an everyday item EVERYONE uses every day. Hmm…"

Our eyes widen at this while Neo and I looked at each other eyes then got out our Scrolls realizing how easily he could've gotten our contact info…

Yeah…

I'm definitely not making an enemy out of this kid.

Accepting the terms of the deal of being his puppet for the time being of the deal we discussed the do and don'ts of what we do when I'm King of the Criminal Underground… with him as our backer with his growing company…

Yeah, I would say sorry to some poor chump that dares to make him his enemy.
