In my arms

The warmth of his breath on her skin made her squirm involuntarily. Before she could hide it he seemed to have noticed it and he chuckled. Once again releasing a warm breath on her skin. Gods, was he doing it on purpose? She wondered. When she tried to pull away his grip on her tightened.

"please stay" he said with a husky voice which made her suddenly feel hot. Dahlia swallowed hard trying to wet her suddenly dried throat. She bit her red painted lower lip as she felt heat in her face. Dahlia could not see his face but she could tell that she was not the only one feeling hot. She felt him breath softly in and out and she caught herself in the process of hugging him head back and she stopped justin time. She didn't know what to do so in the end, she was left with her hands hanging in the air. But what frustrated her was that she ended up in his arms again. Damn fate!

...

Dola reached her car, with a grim expression. Now that she had seen the woman from so close she was sure that she had not mistaking. Their was too much resemblance to be a mistake. She needed to know more about that and if really, that woman was related to her long lost friend.

Plus she seem to have influence on her son. Not just a little bit. If they were together, it would explain that tension and surely with her help she would get what she wanted from Eder. Dola also needed to know if that woman was really Dahlia Quinn. She thinks so but she needed confirmation. She started her car and left.

...

Back in the office…

Eder was still holding on to Dahlia. She looked so small in his large arms. He held her in between his legs with his hands around her waist and his head in the crook of her neck. He knew that she would soon start been her cold self again so he wanted to use this moment when she was warm. Well, when she was letting him hold her.

He did not know for how many time they stayed like this and when he raised his head their eyes met. He was surprised because he saw something in her eyes. It was not the usual void but he could see something like worry, he was not sure. He was never sure, with her things were never really clear unless she wanted it. They held each other's gaze for a short while, both searching the other's gaze.

"I am sorry" he told her softly. He didn't wish for her to think that he was a brutal type of person or have a bad opinion of him. He didn't think she would come at all. He was too blinded by anger on the moment to control himself.

"what for?" she asked with a slight frown.

"for this scene. I am not usually so rash and brutal but I... I don't know what had gotten into me, I just.."

"it's okay" she stopped him gently, holding onto his head. "It's true that you should have had a bit more of self restraint, especially knowing the place where we are but I understand"

"you do?" he was a bit surprised by her understanding gesture. She was always so tight on the self control, especially in the office. He expected her to be a bit more strict but she was just... understanding. Plus she was suddenly sweet and understanding that he doubted a bit.

"more than you can imagine" she whispered, her beautiful green eyes gleaming with a particular look that seem sad and knowing, as she gazed away through out the window.

Eder tilted his head trying to see and understand more of her expression but it was as usual rapidly cleaned and left with emptiness. Could she perhaps relate to this? Did she also have problems with her mother too? what kind of problem could it be? Who was even her mother? was she the reason behind so much emptiness in Dahlia? Eder could only wonder -little could he really imagine the depth of the darkness surrounding Dahlia's story with her mother. But he couldn't ask any question about it. Now was not the right moment to talk about it. He knew she would just close up on herself again and he didn't want that. So what just decided to change the topic.

"thank you" he whispered.

"what for?" she looked back at him with a frown and a voice that was rather soft for her usual self and that surprised him again.

"for staying" he whispered back, feeling genuinely grateful. Then he saw a ghost of a smile on her face. It was so fast that he thought he imagined it.

"I should go now" she whispered. None of them knew why they were whispering in fact.

"I don't want you to go" he said. "please stay a little while" she looked at him for a short while before a soft sigh left her lips which made him understand that she agreed. Then he pressed his head on her shoulder and she held him.

"you have 30 seconds" she said strictly and he chuckled. She shivered. "stop talking" she told him and he chuckled again. "and stop … chuckling" she added. Then he looked up at her, he found her face inches away from his but it did not disturb him at all.

"why?" he asked with a frown. She looked away.

"just stop" she said.

"what?" he asked with a smirk. Dahlia sighed.

"I think I should go now" she tried to remove his hands from her.

"where do you want to go?" he asked.

"to work." she said like the obvious.

"you could forget about work for a while and stay where you are meant to"

"meant to?" she raised a brow at him. His gaze suddenly turned from playful to intense.

"yes, in my arms." he whispered so seriously that Dahlia fell speechless and her face became hot. She fell in a trance for a while looking into his eyes but quickly got her composure back and blinked away her blush. This man!
