15 Lucas

Chapter 15

"For goodness's sake…" Lucas was on the verge of annoyance. But then, he couldn't get annoyed at the man who made his heart throb, and he hated the feeling that he felt at the moment.

He felt neglected, dejected, and unwanted, even though he had an important message for him. There was no telling what he was doing with Maya in there that kept him from communicating with him.

The feeling of jealousy was slowly consuming him, as Maya was reveling in the exact same thing that he wanted so desperately. He didn't want to think about it, as it caused him great pain.

"Where's Alpha Charles?" Alpha Ryder, the guest asked impatiently. His question brought Lucas back into the moment.

The alpha of the neighboring Blood Moon pack had been waiting for the past few moments in the lounge with his beta— a young man who had been hitting Lucas with a cognizant gaze, which Lucas hadn't noticed up until then.

"Is he coming or not?" Ryder was on the verge of having his impatience turned into annoyance.

"I tried reaching him with the mind link, but then he seemed like he's a bit busy with something," Lucas muttered as he was under pressure.

"Then, I might have to get going then—"

"Just wait a minute, I will go get him," Lucas didn't want him to leave, as he wanted to get a chance to speak with his beta. "Give me a moment…" he said, scurrying away to go get his alpha.

With urgency, he made his way out of the lounge and headed for Charles's room. He went through the stairs and walked through the corridors, hoping that his alpha was done with whatever he was up to behind those doors.

On his way, he could see two of Charles's queens heading towards him. From their figures, he could tell that he was about to run into Elizabeth and Amelia. He wanted to turn around and head back, but then the confrontation was inevitable.

He disliked all the queens, as he counted them as the obstacles that kept him from ever getting to the alpha. Every so often, he wished that all of them would just suddenly die.

"Hello, Lucas," Elizabeth said with a smile which he thought to be fake. "How are you doing?"

"Very well," in his mind, he could already tell what she was up to. All the queens tried to get on good terms with him, but then he chose to stay neutral as he didn't fancy anyone of them.

He barely stopped for a minute, as he walked past the middle of them with vibrant urgency in his steps. For a moment, he wasn't concerned with what the aftermath of that would be.

Soon enough, he was at the door of the Alpha's room. He took in a deep breath, as he was about to knock on the door.

But then, just about when he was about to tap on the door, the door came open with Charles coming out of it. He had a long overcoat on over his shirtless body and a pair of trousers below. He almost had Lucas short of breath.

"Alpha…" Lucas muttered under his breath.

"Why did you have to disturb my privacy?" Charles said to him angrily. "Even after I blocked you from reaching me through the mind link, you still insisted."

"I'm deeply sorry about that. I regret my actions, but I was pressured from Alpha Ryder. He came here to see you, and was demanding urgently for your presence," he narrated, trying not to lay his eyes on his alpha's chest, but his eyes kept being stubborn as they were.

"Alright then…" Charles sighed, and looked up ahead the corridor to see the other queens in the corridor. "Were they also waiting for me?"

"I guess so, but I'm not quite sure of that. But you're free now, let's go see Alpha Ryder at once. He seemed so impatient."

"That bossy prick. Why does he think he can easily call the shots, even on my own turf?" Charles said as Lucas followed him from behind. "Is he here alone?"

"No, he came with his beta," Lucas said, as his mind reverted to the young man that had been looking at him. From the way he had been staring at him, it felt like he had a lot of lewd intentions for him.

His heart raced as he looked forward to when both alphas would be deep in their conversation so that he would have him all to himself in a conversation of their own. Beta to beta. He could only hope that he wouldn't get disappointed again, like he had been disappointed by the other guy.

"Just his beta?" Charles asked as they made their way down the stairs.

"Yeah…" Lucas sunk back into the small euphoric world of his thoughts where the sun was always shining above the rainbow.

He imagined all the crazy things he would end up doing with the young man if he happened to be his type. His heart couldn't help but run wild with expectations.

But then, he still had one eye on his alpha, and it made him feel a slight twinge of guilt that he had begun to desire someone besides his alpha. He quickly justified it with the fact that his alpha didn't pay him any mind whatsoever. At that point, Charles seemed like an impossible target.

"I guess you're fully recovered now," Lucas asked, as he was uncomfortable with the silence growing in-between the both of them as they walked. "Seems like Queen Maya knows just how to take good care of you."

Charles stopped and looked at him with his brows furrowed in a frown of disapproval. Why was Lucas always acting funny around him?

"I'm sorry… I didn't mean it that way…" Lucas mumbled frightfully, as he hadn't been aware when those words escaped his lips.

After a while, Charles sighed and continued walking. They soon got to the lounge, and Lucas was soon feeling uneasy. His nostrils were filled with a scent he couldn't explain, but he knew it was pleasant, and almost seemed edible. It was like a concoction of vanilla and honeysuckle.

He couldn't believe his eyes when he walked into the lounge to see what he thought to be the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

"Mate…?" he didn't know when the words exuded his lips.
