1 Freedom

~Azaria~

The padding of feet against tile echoed through the long corridor as I ran for my life. Voices yelling in the background could be heard, but all I could focus on was my breathing and trying to keep it even so I could run for as long as possible and not fall over my own feet. I burst out the balcony doors and looked around.

I couldn't reveal what I was, so flying was out the question, but I couldn't stay here, no one knew yet. I had to escape before they found out.

I stared over the railing that overlooked the forest. The breeze caressing my face, I hadn't felt the wind in over a year! I could easily take off but it would reveal too much and I couldn't risk anyone seeing me, after all, these were hunters and they might try to shoot me down. I wore white dress that went past my knees, plain and basic and a platinum necklace that I got from my mother the only possession I had left before I was stolen from my home. I took one long breath in and exhaled slowly

"If I survive this then I guess it was meant to be."

I looked down at the at the dense trees below trying to find a safe place to land but there was none. the faint sound of voices resurged my urgency and I took one last breath to steel my courage. I swung my legs over the railing and took a seated position and leapt off falling to the forest below.

~Nathan~

I stared at my phone screen with dismay. I replayed the security footage as I sat at my desk watching her slip between my fingers again! This time she actually was gone. My hand shook with rage as I held my phone and the screen started to crack where I squeezed what would have been the life out of my phone if it were living.

"Aaaahhhhrrr!" I yelled as I threw my phone into the wall and it shattered.

"Was that really necessary Mr. Black?" a tall, slender male stood in front of the desk unphased by the outburst.

"How did this happen!?" I want all of the staff interrogated and punished.....they have no idea what she is worth!"

The man that stood in front of his desk was dressed in a tailored, pinstriped suit not a strand of his long, jet black hair looking out of sorts and unphased by the mans anger.

"Very well Mr. Black, but I will ask that you refrain from breaking any more devices. It takes a considerable amount of time to make them suitable for the work we do here and making them secure." He pulled out a similar phone to the one he broke and handed it to him

"Fortunately I am prepared this time but if you break this one in too short of a time frame I cant guarantee that I will have a replacement so quickly." Nathans eyes softened and he finally looked at the man

"Thank you Jasper, you may be the only competent employee here...." I sighed, raking my hands though my hair leaned back in my plush leather office chair.

" I have to go after her myself.....but I cant let the others know how valuable she is or they will take all my glory and hard work claim it for themselves!" I groaned " Jasper, run the normal protocols for an escapee, but get me an excuse to leave here within the next 24 hours, ill be going to collect her myself." Jasper nodded with a smile

" Right away Mr. Black" and he exited the office door and closed it behind him. I leaned back in my chair and stared at the photo that lay on my desk of the girl who was the center of my rage. picking up the photo and tracing her face with my fingers "You can run but you cant escape me my little angel"
