3 Chapter 3:- Evolution of Earth in 6 months

After a small pause, Selene looked at the window and slightly smiled. "We all went into hibernation. In a state of deep sleep. We sealed our powers to make ourselves sleep for who knows how many millions of years. However, there is a catch."

"What catch?"

"You see to seal off our bodies, we had to use our powers. Even if we were supreme beings, that does not mean that we were invincible. To seal our bodies, we had to use..... maybe the word sacrifice would be more suitable, our powers."

Aditya widened his eyes as he realized something. "Does that mean...?"

"Yes, I have currently lost all of my powers. I am still the Goddess of the Moon. But it will take a few decades for me to regain my former powers."

"In the rank of supreme beings, there are some who are very weak, there also some beings who are stronger than me. The stronger we were the more longer we could preserve our bodies."

"I don't understand."

"Let me explain."

"When we sealed off our bodies, our bodies were no different from the bodies of the dead. Our powers worked as fuels to keep our bodies preserved to this day. For example, given how powers I have lost, I can say that almost 1 billion years have passed. Each 10 million years, I lost one percent of my powers. My powers were used to keep my soul and my body preserved."

Aditya held his head trying to process all this information. After a whole minute of silence, Aditya raised his head and look at the goddess. "According to the scientist, the age of the earth is only around 4.543 billion years."

Aditya then realized something. His face increasingly turned paler as his body began trembling which confused the moon goddess. "Wait a minute. Does that mean Gods and Goddesses and other supreme beings who are stronger than Miss Selene have awakened with their original powers?" If that were to happen, then Earth will be ruled by Gods and Goddesses.

Seeing Aditya's tense reaction, the Goddess chuckled lightly and then shook her head. "Actually no. Back then there were only a few handful beings who were stronger than me. Most of those beings have left earth while others tried to use their powers to keep Mana from disappearing. In the process, they lost a certain big percentage of their powers. There were also a few Gods and Goddesses who just killed themselves in the face of despair."

"But the possibility of Supreme beings retaining a small percentage of their powers still exists." If it took 10 million years for Selene to lose just one, just one small fraction of her powers, then just how strong she was in her prime. And there are Gods and Goddesses who were stronger than Selene. What about them? Even after 1 billion years, even with their small remaining percentage of powers, Aditya was sure that those Gods can destroy Earth.

"Aditya, you can calm down. For now, no God is going to act." Selene tried to calm Aditya. Right now her safety was also related to this human male.

"Why are you so sure about that?" Aditya asked.

"You see, the current earth is too big. Even though I have almost 99.999999% of my powers, I can still feel the size of the earth and the moon. Back in my time, the moon used to be way bigger. This solar system was on the verge of dying. In a few more million years, this solar system would have been destroyed."

"This happened because of lack of mana?" Selene nodded her head.

"The current Earth is in the state of being withered. Now that mana has finally returned to this solar system, Earth is going to expand by refilling itself. Not just earth but also the size of the moon and other planets are also going to change. Meaning that this whole solar system is going to expand in size."

"Does this expansion this harm Earth in any way?" Aditya worriedly asked.

"No. This expansion will rather benefit Earth. But I am not sure about the humans and other living beings that live on earth."

"What do you mean?"

"Approximately, six months from now on the Earth is going to expand. With the expansion, everything you know about Earth is going to change. Earth will finally become strong enough for the gods and Goddesses to descend." Right now the current Earth was too fragile. Selene was sure that if some Gods in their full power even got anywhere near Earth, the passive and wisp of small Aura that radiates from that God's body will destroy Earth.

"What do you think would happen to the humans and the zombies after the evolution? The evolution itself will be a dangerous process. When the evolution of Earth finishes, how will humans protect themselves from the dangers of the evil Gods? How will humans protect themselves from monsters? The world after evolution is very dangerous. Normal humans will fall from the top of the food chain, all the way to the bottom."

Aditya couldn't help but feel his blood run cold hearing Selene's words. Imaging humans falling to the bottom of the Food chain sent shivers down Aditya's spine.

In this situation, the humans had no one to rely upon. Even the so-called Gods and Goddesses have lost their powers and have become weak as humans.

'But, the system is there.' Selene noticed the newly found determination in Aditya's eyes. Right now he was a man who had found his purpose. He knew what he needed to do. He longer felt aimless in this new era.

When the whole world changed, the thought of committing suicide crossed his mind many times. He asked himself what would he do in this kind of apocalyptic world. It's not like his family cared about him or it's not like he had anyone that he wanted to protect. Aditya was someone who was alone in this world. He felt as if he was an orphan even though he still had parents. But Aditya had no love for his parents.

Aditya became a man with no purpose. Before the world changed, Aditya worked extremely hard. He worked harder than anyone in his family so that he can get away from his family and start a new life. He was so focused on his goal that he never had a girlfriend.

After the world changed, these goals were no longer possible to achieve. It made Aditya wonder what he was going to do next. At that moment the thought of dying also felt like a good idea. But Selene's words have given him a new purpose.

He had found a new drive force. He did not care if he lived or died. What made him slightly excited was the thought of finally going berserk. Modern society and its rules held Aditya back. Otherwise, by now he would have killed many people who often bullied him. In his heart, he felt no pain when he killed those zombies. This was also because of all the suffering and unjust that he had to face from modern society.

But in this apocalyptic era, Aditya can finally do whatever he wanted to do. For once he won't be limited by any laws. Aditya wanted to see how far he can go without having any laws binding him.

"So to survive in this nasty and apocalyptic world, I will need to level up. It seems I will have to hunt zombies."

"You're not afraid?" Selene grinned and asked.

"I don't care about death anymore. I just want to enjoy this world without being restricted." After saying that Aditya stood up and walked to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Selene looked at Aditya's back. Seeing him walking inside the kitchen, the Goddess's lips curled up. She couldn't help but smile. This human was very interesting to her. "Should I follow him? I want to see how he will end up in his messed-up world."

Meanwhile, Aditya looked around the kitchen, searching for a knife or something that he can use as a weapon. Unfortunately, Aditya could not find any kitchen knives. The whole house was newly painted so it was normal that there won't be any knives or any food.

"It looks like I will have to head to some Grocery." Aditya took one last look at the kitchen. Before leaving the kitchen, he found a 1-meter long iron rod lying next to the door. Aditya grabbed the iron rod and walked out of the kitchen.

"To survive in this messy world which is currently full of zombies, I will need food, water, shelter, clothes, medicine, and weapons. I can find all these things in a grocery store. So my first goal will be to find a grocery store."

"That's an excellent idea. But I don't know where we will find a grocery store." Selene's words made Aditya pause. He turned around and looked at the Goddess in front of him without any emotions on his face.

"Excuse me? t I am not going to take any extra weight with me." Aditya turned around to leave. After spending more than 20 minutes with the Goddess, Aditya understood basically this Goddess has lost all of her powers and was of no use to Aditya. In this world, where everything has changed, Aditya was sure that the other surviving humans wouldn't hesitate to kill other humans for food. Taking the weight of a beautiful-looking Goddess would only burden him.

Besides Aditya was going to hunt Zombies. He is not sure if the Goddess can keep up with him or help but. Aditya admits that her flying powers are cool and very useful. But he rather not take the risk of taking a Goddess with him. Aditya felt that presence of the Goddess would only bring him unnecessary trouble.

"Did you just call me extra weight?" Aditya stopped walking hearing the goddess's angry voice.

Aditya turned around and coldly looked at her eyes. "Besides flying 2 meters above the ground, what other thing you can do? Bringing you with me would only burden me. Also if you're thinking that I will go out, fight zombies and bring food for you here, then you're mistaken. I don't know how the people 1 billion years ago treated you, but I don't expect me to worship you."

"You...." Right now the calm and gentle Goddess, Selene was extremely angry. If she had even a 0.1% of her former powers, she already would have killed this hateful mortal.

"Who said I can only fly? Don't underestimate this Goddess, I might have lost my powers, but my combat abilities are far greater than yours. Not to mention even in my weakened state, I have more mana than you do." The Goddess looked like a cat whose tail has been stepped on. She was fuming with anger. She looked like a Lioness who had felt her pride hurt.

Right now she undoubtfully looked very cute even though she looked very angry. Her cute but angry face somehow touched the cold and dead heart of Aditya.

A small smile appeared on his face. His smile made the Goddess think that this mortal was mocking her but in reality, Aditya smiled because he found her angry face kind of cute.

"Alright, since you can fight and also fly, you can come with me." At least for now Aditya decided to bring the Goddess with him. He might be cold and indifferent to the Goddess, but thinking of leaving such a beautiful woman to starve can make even the coldest person's heartache.

"Hmph! Don't misunderstand mortal. It's you who needs this Goddess's assistance. Without me, you cannot survive in the future." Selene snorted as she began following Aditya out of her house.

After walking out of the house, Aditya was relieved to find that there were no zombies in front of her house. "By the way, what is a grocery store?"
