5 Chapter 5: The Bristling-Autumn Bank (1)

[Curved Sickle-Dagger] (Common-Gray, Knife)

Level 0

Equipment Requirement: Strength 3

Attack Power +5

Durability 30/30

Note: The owner has taken quite good care of this weapon. Can also be used to farm wheat and such, but only if you have the back strength to spare.

Waving the weapon before him, Lin Ke smiled. This was a fine weapon for such early-stage gameplay. But… Common-Gray? He only remembered there being one area in the Gray tier, which was Gray Trash. Must have forgotten something.

In God's Domain, there was a certain weapon ranking.

Trash.

Common….?

Bronze.

Mysterious-Iron.

Secret-Silver.

Fine-Gold.

Dark-Gold.

Epic.

Fragmented-Legendary.

Legendary.

And lastly, Divine.

Shrugging, Lin Ke walked on, stashing the knife into his bag as he went. The nerfed foam Novice Dagger lay squished in its sheath, as he figured it could be somewhat useful in the future.

Fumbling around once more, he took out three copper coins. A few that he looted from the gangster Seth. His first course of action was to get something to cover himself up. After he did that, things would get a lot easier….

As he didn't want to be kicked out of the town in about five seconds, Lin Ke needed an item to obscure his name and all of his stats. Of course, there were quite a few NPC's that could probably see through a weakling such as him, but he wasn't going to go interact with them.

[No-Clip] would allow him to avoid most trouble, and they would be running in circles trying to find the culprit. You see, Lin Ke was going to be a cat burglar. And a scammer. But mostly a cat burglar.

[Counterfeit].

An ability of his that allowed him to copy anything temporarily, with fewer stats than before. But that wasn't the point. The confusing yet useful thing about the ability, was, that no one could tell. They wouldn't be able to tell even if they looked at the stats panel and such. Only on use did it appear more garbage.

So off he was, towards Red-Leaf Towns money hotspot. The Bristling-Autumn Bank. It was a place that Shi Feng hadn't gone to in Red-Leaf Town. From talking with a friendly NPC, Lin Ke had found this place. A place where one could save and exchange currency. A good place for any players that wanted to sort out their funds. It would be a little tricky getting the whole process down with as much obscurity as possible, but he would hopefully make his way through things with a breeze, fingers crossed.

He had many plans if things went south.

He walked down the street, passing by countless medieval vendors, with many a person calling out to him, displaying their various goods. Lin Ke saw ripe juicy tomatoes, brilliant orange pumpkins, and so on. A few children dressed in poor peasant clothes ran around happily, without a care in the world.

Soon, Lin Ke stopped. He stood right before a large granite building. His cheap leather boots crunched on red and brown leaves, and the strong smell of apple cider filled the air. It was calming, really. But his heart couldn't be said to be the same. He was going to try to lie his way out of things after all.

Granite pillars were embedded into the ground, forming an entrance into the large building. The bank itself was about five stories tall, with speckled rocky walls and clear gold-plated windows, showing the establishment's obvious status.

The roof of the building was made up of silver tiles, glinting in the sunlight, and fearsomely carved gargoyles stood guard above, their rearing figures frozen in place.

As per custom, growing in groves around the premises were sprawling grey-brown trees, all sprouting to the brim with those red leaves. Red-Leaf Town at its finest.

Two large velvet doors stood at the entrance, and an elegant plaque sat right above it. Written in beautiful calligraphy, it read:

-Bristling-Autumn Bank-

Pushing aside a rather low-hanging branch, he entered. As soon as he entered, the fine smell of sweet maple syrup hit him hard. Looking about, Lin Ke smiled. This game truly was aesthetically pleasing.

To the side, he watched a few Red-Leaf Guards march on, sharp pointy spears in hand. The lobby of the bank really was nice. The inside walls were seemingly made of old red-stained oak wood, and the soft carpeted floor of fluffy satin wool. Around the place, smooth circular tables sat, and countless people sat around, talking in muted whispers.

The counter was large and in a half-oval shape, made of fine worn marble. Countless books, records, and old yellowing papers sat behind, as many attendants and accountants worked their hearts out, shouting about as they bustled about.

Lin Ke casually walked over to the counter, greeting a young female receptionist.

"Hello, young Miss. I want to exchange copper coins for silver."

Smiling, he procured a leather pouch, which jingled, completely stuffed to the brim.

"Oh? Yes, welcome to the Bristling-Autumn Bank. We'll reserve an appraiser for you in just a moment." The receptionist swept aside her chocolate-brown hair, quickly jotting something down with a fine ballpoint pen, ink streaking across the page. "Now, what is your name? You don't seem to be native to Red-Leaf Town. Would you like to open an account?"

It seemed quite abrupt for Lin Ke, but he shrugged it off.

"Uh. My name is Samuel. Samuel Brown. I'd respectfully decline from opening an account. I'm leaving for Falling-Moon Town tomorrow. Just need to exchange my coin to simplify things." Smiling, Lin Ke hoped that everything went well as he smiled wide, hands straight along his sides.

"That's fine Mister…. Brown. If you are just here for the money exchange, then there won't be many complications." The female receptionist handed him a small card with a number on it and told him to wait for a bit.

Coughing as he sat on a soft leather couch, Lin Ke sighed, rubbing his temples. He'd been extremely stiff, and his dialogue was straight-up lame. He couldn't lie for his life….. So robotic.

Shaking his head, he opened the status menu and called his other friend, Black Cloud, otherwise known as Blackie. A person who was somewhat relevant in the RSSG universe, but lost quite a bit of "screentime", which was sad.

**Ding!

The call accepted, Lin Ke smiled, speaking a bit:

"Blackie. How are you doing? Where are you?"

"Huff! Ack! Goddamnit! Brother Feng told me to get to Red-Leaf Town as fast as I could, so... Yeah!"

On the other side, Blackie coughed outloud, seemingly in quite some stress. In the background, Lin Ke could hear the sound of wolves howling.

"Oh. Well, have fun~" Lin Ke said in a singsong voice.

*Drmp!*

"And, he hung up on me. Seriously." Rolling his eyes, Lin Ke sat back, yawning a little.
